I just got a new laptop Windows 8 Pro and when I try to get to 8.1, it tells me that I must be an administrator.  Windows will not let me doo that neither she will leave the default Admin do.  Now I have two users who don't really seem to have the administrator rights.  Help!

Hello

1 have had any changes made on the computer before the show?

2 are you referring to the built-in Administrator as the default admin?

To solve the problem with the update to 8.1 Windows, follow these steps:

Step 1:

If you have not activated the built-in Administrator account, follow these steps to activate it.

(a) press Windows and x key together on your desktop screen.
(b) click on prompt (admin).
(c) type: net user administrator /active: Yes

Note: Please follow the same steps and type net user administrator /active: no to disable the administrator account after the diagnosis is made.

Step 2:

After you enable the built-in Administrator account, see the article Windows 8.1 operating system update:

Update to Windows 8.1 of Windows 8

  • Account Exchange does not authenticate to exchange server with a domain under Windows Surface 3 pro 8.1 user

    Hello

We recently bought a Surface 3 pro from our supplier that has windows 8.1 pre installed (OEM) and I have set up a local user with local administrator rights account, I did windows updates, also activated the account administrator local and then added the device to our area, but I can not set up exchange on the domain user account. I also gave this area local administrator user rights, but it does not check the name on the Exchange Server. It makes the connection to the network, on behalf of the research, but it will not connect to the server. I tried to manually configure upwards, but not luck. When I created this same domain account on a local user with administrator rights, I works very well. I did several times on Windows 7 and never had any problems. Has anyone encountered this problem? • Help! -New Dell i3847 - Windows 7 Pro - Dell Recovery Disk Win 8.1 & DBaR don't make a backup of the system

I bought a new Dell i3847 and it has Windows 7 Pro 64 bit installed at the factory on it.

I wanted to make a complete backup of the system, but the Dell Backup and Recovery software does not allow me to make a backup of the system.  In addition, I was unable to create a system recovery disk using Dell backup and restore.

I can't use the drive system recovery expected Dell because it clearly states Windows 8.1

    (1) why is a Win 8.1 drive included with a Win 7 Pro 64 bit system?

    (2) what is the problem with Dell backup and recovery that she:

    (a) cannot create a recovery disc factory

    (b) allow me to create a backup system so I can go back to the factory State

    Help!

It has been 2.5 hours and it is still "initialize disk" to create a recovery of the plant.  It usually somewhere fails during initialization or in writing.    Spend hours for each failed attempt to create a factory recovery disc is NOT GOOD!

The factory restore disk was finally created.

Dell is now a person pays create a backup system and the user must download a update to do so.

Microsoft has a tool to create a system image and make a recovery / restore disc which is free.

So, I used DBaR do restore disk by the factory.

However, to make a system image and a recovery / restore for that, I used windows 7 built in software.

    1. Click the start planet.
    2. Type cmd.exe in the search box.
    3. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    4. Click on "Run as Administrator".
    5. Type the following command exactly:
      NET user "user %%nom" ' "{Enter}
(this will reset your password for a white)
    6. Type the following command:
      Control UserPasswords2 {Enter}
    7. Check the box "users must enter a user name...". »
    8. Click on your account name.
    9. Uncheck "users must enter a user name...". »
    10. Click OK
    11. Leave the fields blank password and click OK.

  • Through router remote desktop connection gets login screen, but the administrator is the only option (windows 7 pro)

I have a new windows 7 pro system which has been configured to host a remote desktop connection.  There are 1 user account (active admin), the port number was changed from 3389 and I think that the firewall is disabled (it's Norton Internet Security and I tried to completely disable the firewall).

When I established a remote connection from another computer on the same subnet, the client asks for login/password and the connection ends and goes directly to the screen of the user.

This subnet has an internet connection via a firewall or router.  It has been configured to redirect incoming connections for the custom to the host port number.

When I establish a remote connection from outside through the firewall I am invited to login/password, but the Welcome screen appears and the only options are administrator and other users.  Administrator is blocked for the account restrictions and using other users to type the login and the password does not work - it still fails on bad login/password.

I've seen this problem described in other forums, but have not seen a solution - anyone got one?

    Thank you

  • Different drag / drop behavior of the mouse on different users on the same virtual machine Windows 10 Pro accounts

I just upgraded to 8.1 on Mac OS X 10.11.3 Fusion "El Capitan" on a new iMac 27-inch 5K retina. The guest operating system is a new virtual machine Windows 10 Pro. I have two user accounts on the virtual machine, my local administrator account and another account local standard user. When I am logged into my account, I am able to drag and drop files to and from the guest to the normally Mac OS. As the mouse moves freely between the guest OS and the Mac. However, when I connect using the standard other account, I can't drag - move to and from the guest for the Mac OS. Also once I click into the virtual machine the mouse movement is limited to the virtual machine until I have press the buttons on the Mac to free the movement of the mouse to the Mac. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the vmware tools but the same behavior persists. Any ideas on a solution and why these two users accounts would act differently?

Just phone with the help of VMware. They solved the problem in uninstalling and reinstalling VMware tools and change the following VMware Fusion preferences-> preferences-> General-> Gaming: to 'Never mouse optimize for games '. It has been set to 'always optimize the mouse for games '.  After that drag & drop, mouse movement works smoothly and perfectly now. Thank you VMware support!

  • Upgrade to Windows 8 Pro fails miserably, why?. What can I do to make sure it works this time.

DV6 - 7247cl just bought 1 week ago, I bought windows 8 pro upgrade pack and backed up my windows 8 base images.  When to perform in-place upgrade today ' today-all seemed well until it has restarted and came to a start with three boxes menu: Windows 8 on volume 4

    Windows 8 on volume 4

    Installation of Windows

I tried all 3 and each of them became all black and then blue screen, your computer has encountered a problem....

I went into recovery options and each tried and nothing worked.  The last option that I came was to make Factory Image Recovery, I need Windows 8 Pro because I join domain and use Bitlocker and start with the virtual hard drive.  Why it failed, would it secure boot or UEFI.  Please tell me what I can do to get this update to work.  The upgrade looked like it was working but then wouldn't boot into Windows more after the reboot.

Sorry for the experience with the support of Microsoft. I wasn't expecting that. Let us try the old process to restore the system to the factory settings, uninstalling unwanted applications and then create an inplace upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. Let's see what happens this time.

  • Make an ISO of a system running (Windows XP Pro SP3)

I have a few HW record that has ONLY the drivers to run on XP - I DO have a Windows XP machine!

I just upgraded to a machine more powerful and you have installed

    Windows XP Pro SP1, then

    Updated til SP3, then

    upgrade to SP3

and then I installed all my SW - Total use on the 11 GB disc - and the machine is runing like a dream!

It's a job to do all this, so I was wondering if I cam make an ISO of the entire installation file - because it's 11 GB there must be on severel DVD?

If not the whole installation, then only the OS would be very nice to make an ISO of only one file.

If yes how can I do that?

Yes, use a disk imaging software to create an image of the entire hard drive.  In fact, if you have an external hard drive - reasonable size, you can (and should) make periodic images of the disk as backups.

A diagram would be to do an image immediately after the system has been setup as you wish.  Then make a series of periodic backup images, with the frequency of backup images depending on how often you make major changes and the number of backup images (before throwing 'old') depending on the size of your external hard drive.

Here are a few representative programs.  Most created images or clones, but some may be cloning applications only.  Some are free, others are not.  Vs clone image

If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):

    Acronis True Image Home
    EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
    Casper

  • unusual files in the user part of windows xp pro.

Hi, this could be something I did and maybe not. If I go to Documents and Settings all users, it has acquired a two different application data folders. And on top of the USER folder now has one in this document, 'MY Documents' and if I try to delete the file it deletes all: MY Document: files. I don't know what I did. And I have no idea on how to fix.
I usually keep all four records: administrator, user by default, all users and users of vacuum. With the exception of all users. I keep the rest blank. It is a single computer and I'm the only person who uses it. Also, the start Menu folder has a folder Administrator.
The user file is large 120 gigas!

    Hello Gene,

In Windows XP, there will be some default files in the c:\Documents and Settings folder.
    c:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur
    c:\Documents and Settings\All Users
    c:\Documents and Settings\All Users
    c:\Documents and Settings\Default User
    c:\Documents and Settings\LocalService
