Making backups

I made a backup with onekey recovery, but it won't let me install the software on my pc, so I can burn it to a dvd. If not, how can I write the files to a disc?

Thank you.

Hi fadetoblack22,

As I understand, the problem you are having is that you want to burn a backup DVD, but your system of the S series with no optical drive, you want to use a separate desktop PC to burn the DVD.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to do this without the help of an external DVD burner. If you don't have an external DVD drive, so I don't see why you need to burn a backup anyway since you will not be able to restore the backup without an external hard drive either.
Alternatively, if you have an external hard drive, you can create a backup, save it to the external hard drive, and later restore this same file if necessary.

If you try to make a backup of backup MS in win7 so it won't work if it's the original... only pro or ultimate version... For some strange reason MS consider home version to do no need to work at network resources...

I highly recommend the purchase of a... decent backup software which can backup to network drives.

The starting point is you can create a directory on the TC drive and copy files to it?

Don't worry about backups until you know that you have all permissions to copy files.

Please note... recovering from a TC is going to be as hard as making backups.

A PC on a NTFS formatted USB disk plugged directly into the PC for trouble free restore backup... If you plan to use storage-based network buy a good NAS... you use a TC and find yourself in trouble if you need it.

  • Avoid photos lost or missing/proper export/backup of catalog

I am an amateur photographer who mainly take pictures of family and friends. Our PC just crashed about 3 weeks, so we bought a Mac and update of Lightroom backup off on our external hard drive as the internal hard drive from old PC. I got 4 Lightroom for almost 2 years and have been exporting photos in different folders on both drives (external and internal old PC) in order to not lose them, print them or simply classify elsewhere. For some reason, Lightroom showed hundreds of random as "missing or lost" photos THREE times since we moved to the Mac, and this last time instead of completely erase the Lightroom or charge, I spent 4 hours of hunting and gathering a TON of different files. I know I missed the part on export correctly to avoid this problem, but now that I have this huge mess, I have a few questions.

1 how/why Lightroom is randomly pick up some files previously exported to lose without losing not others in the same exact import in the same exact folder? How or can I program it not to do so that I don't end up with 400 + photos "missing or lost" for the 4th time in a month?

2 How to export? Obviously put on a desk or a hard drive, it is difficult for Lightroom to find later, is why the program loses records and I pull my hair back.

    3. can I save my catalog each time I have import new photos to go back if Lightroom shows a large majority of my photos "missing or lost" again?

Thanks in advance for all your help. I'm so lost, just at the moment where I thought that I understood.

    Molly

    1. Lightroom is not 'lose' the files, this occurs because the user has done something wrong. You cannot move, rename, or delete these photos (or the folders that contain them) outside of Lightroom. If you stop managing your photos outside of Lightroom and do all the managing photos in Lightroom, the problem disappears. Better yet, develop a "workflow" that doesn't require you to move pictures from here to there. To resolve the problem with the missing photos, use these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing
    2. I would not use the export strategy that you have defined. I would export photos only when you need it outside of Lightroom (example: e-mail, web to print,) and once the exported photos have become useless outside of Lightroom, you delete the exported photos. The original is always managed in Lightroom, so you can find it whenever you need, and you can reproduce if necessary export.
    3. See my response to the #1, making backups is a good thing to do, in fact, I'd say it's mandatory, but is not the way to solve the lack of photo question, actually it will not solve the problem of missing photo.

You have a big mess on your hands.

The way I see it, you have two choices (practices) and a little practice.

    Choice number one practice:
He write off and learn (the hard way) the value of making backups.

    Number two choice practice:
Call my friend, Kurt. Kurt Van Meerbeeck. He can help, for a price. Yet once, you will learn the value of making backups. Kurt is available through his Web site, http://www.ora600.be/

It can re - build entire databases, even when missing the SYSTEM tablespace. It can be a lot of work.

It will be much better to explain what is possible. Tell him I sent you.

    Finally, a hard choice:
Try to build your own tool to rebuild your database. I say impossible, cause, unless you are simply a genius, it will be much more cost and time effective to hire Kurt.

Good luck in whatever you decide,

    -Mark

PS and LEARN to DO the BACKUPS! (AND TESTED!)

    Hi all,

I want to use the backup strategy incremental cumulative rman i.e.I want to take a full backup Level0 every week (Sunday) and a cumulative LEVEL1 database incremental backup every day.

    RMAN configuration parameters are:

  • Backup in Oracle procedures

I'm trying to backup procedures for a number of research platforms and software and I was wondering if someone could help with the Oracle database with the following text:

    • For backups of Oracle databases, which is the default tool or utility that is used to back up the Oracle database and Oracle backup what file extension will have when the backup is created? Also, is there a default folder that will be written the backup too if the use of default tools?

    • Is more typical, an Oracle database will be saved using the default backup utilities in Oracle or do most people use a 3rd third party tool?

    • Too far do you go with backups of databases? You back up the database to another drive, then the backup to the backup media, once again? Extent to which channel are you going?

    • How do you feel about the use of backup utilities system including databases oracle on system within the backup volumes is common or it is essential to have a specific to the Oracle database backup procedure?

    • What audit connects or trails will be available to demonstrate to management or the Board of Auditors that the backup was performed in accordance with departmental policies? Where is this file and how much detail does show when you use the default oracle utilities?

    • As Oracle DBA are there any particular reasons why backups cannot be run on a specific day, that evening, if so could you give some details on what types of occurrence will prevent to be logical to run the backup that night? For example, if you saw, that she has been saved 6 days out of 7, why for the 7th day would be reasonable, as appropriate.

Would prefer your comments and input as opposed to a load of links that the links I've read to date are not compatible.

There is a very good thing that you should not forget. All that you can choose to use, if it is not supported by oracle, its of no use at all. And RMAN is the tool supported by oracle for making backups and recoveries. Another thing, is your own responsibility. In addition to RMAN, BCV backup are also very popular.

The repository that you mention, which will provide us with 3 weeks backup days a, b, c but not d and z?

  • RMAN cold backup pending

    10.2.0.4 RMAN + catalogue + Data Guard

Hi, I'm confused about a few things here :) I was wondering if someone has faced these same issues.

1 documentation states that on making backups in sleep mode, rather than on the primary:
Only the backups that have been written to tape are available to the primary database for restoration and recovery.
So if I took a backup on the disk and then he went to band (not directly on tape via RMAN), I can't use this backup to restore my first? This is not sensible.

2 oracle recommends to use editable incremental image copy backups as best practices of database pending backup. Someone at - it a link to an explanation of this? Thank you!

Perhaps you need to specify where you will find in the documentation
    a. that are aligned with the backups, writings on the Strip
    (b) the recommendation to use progressively update backups

If you have taken a backup of the day before cold and you have restored it on the primary (Note: you must be aware that the backup of the previous day will not have the most recent applied archivelogs!), the restored controlfile is a controlfile "Standby". Then you would have to convert it to a primary
The sequence would be (similar to that of the primary be "destroyed" - alias 'a disaster')
    RECOVER MANAGED DATABASE ENSURES CANCEL
    ACTIVATE THE BACKUP DATABASE

(You will not be able to "PASSAGE OF the EVE" that, conceptually, you do not have a PRIMARY.)

I have an iMac 27 ", mid 2011, El Capitan 10.11.6 running. During the last two months, the awakening from its sleep, it gives a single quiet beep... but it is incompatible, that is not all the time, nor even every other time. OK, I have this very frustrating problem.

I use a lot snapchat. also with music in the background (via spotify and/or music Apple).

When I snapchat, I'm in places very different noise.

I'm going to the festival with artists a lot, so there is a lot of hard noise, but I use snapchat a lot to quiet places as well.

From one moment to the other, the microphone is killed. It no longer works, is sounds like his breath upward.

Dictaphone does no longer work, so it's a hardware fault.

I tried the software reset, without making backup installed several times.

I swapped the phone like 7 times for new.

Even bought a brand new one, BUT IT CONTINUES to SE!

I feel like I'm the only one with this problem, but I don't let drop the phone or treat it's bad.

It's just that it continues to be, which is so frustrating.

Please someone help, or tell me that they have the same thing?

I'm really lost my confidence in the iPhone through this.

It seems to me like a problem of Snapchat vs a phone number.

I don't know anything about Snapchat. It's pictures you send? Videos? Videos must have audio?

Apart from Snapchat and in a normal environment, your microphone is working correctly? can you do voicer memos or use any other application for registration? Can you do a regular video without audio problems using the camera application?

  • I have reset Firefox and now I've lost the Favorites and the custom toolbar.

I can't restore my custom toolbar. Got back bookmarks by following the instructions found. I can not understand how to restore the toolbar... I go to the "Troubleshooting" information and I click on the "view files", but the only 'local' in my opinion, is not dated before I reset Firefox and I do not understand ' click on Firefox and while it repairs... etc. ". I am pretty good at following instructions, but these baffle me. Help, please!

I haven't seen that pop up...

If you want to try to roll back the clock I can describe a procedure to do this. In short, it would be to create a new folder of parameters (a new Firefox profile), deletion of the contents of this folder and copy the contents of your old data from Firefox on the desktop file.

Does not take long, if you are interested, but then you have to troubleshoot why the old profile was slow. Here's how:

    Resucitating your profile before reset

    (1) create a new Firefox profile:

Close Firefox and starts in the Profile Manager, as described in this article:

Use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox

Any time want spending profiles, close Firefox and come back to this dialog box. When you create a new profile, I recommend that you use the suggested default location, not to delete all profiles without first making backups. For quick reference, name the 12 profile so you can easily recognize.

    (2) when you start in the new profile, it is almost empty. Open the profile folder using

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

The bar of Windows Explorer should show a name combining random characters with 12.

    (3) keep this folder open, exit Firefox. Allow a few moments for Firefox complete update of the files in the profile folder. Then delete the contents of the folder new profile. This will leave you with a profile folder 12 vacuum.

    (4) in a separate window, open the folder of old data from Firefox on your desktop. Copy all the data of this file in the profile folder 12 vacuum.

    (5) run Firefox. It is expected to launch in which looks exactly like your discount to zero prior configuration.

Now on troubleshooting. If Firefox feels slow, I suggest starting with Safe Mode. It is a standard diagnostic tool in order to avoid interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe help

Help > restart with disabled modules

In the dialog box, click on 'Start mode safe' (not Reset)

    Any difference?

  • How can I restore my default browser

I have problems with my email Go Daddy account. Go daddy said that I need to restore my default browser. I already deleted my history, cookies and cache settings. How can I restore firefox default.

I'll answer that in a few minutes, but first of all, what is the problem you are having with the account?

What the function of Firefox Reset done that create a folder of fresh settings, carrying over your bookmarks, saved passwords and some other information but shedding some of your add-ons (extensions and themes) and custom settings. It's quick and easy, but in some cases, you can lose information, such as groups of tabs, it's important to you. This article contains more information: Refresh Firefox – reset settings and Add-ons.

To see if a reset is likely to help until you do, you could test email from GoDaddy in a totally blank Firefox profile. A new profile inherits the plugins already installed on your system, such as Flash, but otherwise, will look like a new installation. If this does not resolve the problem of GoDaddy, then it is useless to do a reset.

If you want to try this, close Firefox and starts in the Profile Manager, as described in this article: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox. Any time want spending profiles, close Firefox and come back to this dialog box. I recommend that you use the suggested default location, do not delete anything without first making backups.

The site works as expected in the new profile?

  • The displacement of time Machine on an iMac to a new macbook

I have a new macbook and I copied the files from my iMac to it. I would like to take his retirement from the iMac and the macbook it will become my main computer. My time machine is 50% full. Should I format my external drive for Time Machine and start all over again?

It is up to you. If you leave the external drive, as it is now, Time Machine will focus on making backups until your hard drive is full. Then, it will start deleting older backups, probably those made in your iMac.

If you think you won't have old backups, you can use disk utility to format the external drive and start all over again, but it is not necessary. Time Machine can do the work for you automatically.
