  • flash drive crashed; Formatt required; any way I can recover the data?

I downloaded a file to my USB key quickbooks.

The first time that I saved the file to the flash drive errored out in the middle of recording.

When I tried to access the file on the flash drive, I was told the drive needed to be formatted.

Is it possible to recover the data on the flash drive?

    Thank you.

    Hi RexSweetwood,

The problem that you are experiencing is very common, it is often caused by the pluging and unpluging the flash hard drive. In this case, you probably can't get your data from the flash drive, however, if the data in the flash player are very important, you can contact the manufacturer of your flash drive to ask if you can recover the data.

In other words, in this case, you can easily get your fixed USB (the manufacturer can do it), but you probably cannot recover the data.

    Good luck to you.

  • Error-insert the disc when try to open the flash drive.

Original title: why connect my USB drive as an external drive.

When the flash drive is plugged into the USB port, it seems that it will be added as a flash drive, but then the following equipment added window indicates that an external hard drive has been added.  When I go into windows Explorer to open the drive in Explorer mode, it says to insert the disc.

    Hi JimScottATO,

    We will try this.

First of all, make sure that you are connected under an administrator account on your computer. Then plug in your USB key.

Click START then right click on my computer , then click MANAGE

In the new window, click MANAGEMENT OF DISKS

Find the name of your flash drive and right click.

Click on the letter of change of road and railways

And then change the drive letter to something not already taken by another drive on the computer, such as "x" or "v".

  • flash drive, copy the files of microsoft word 2007

unabe to copy files from word to a flash drive, can cut/copy but nowhere to paste?

Save your file (s) to the Documents; and create folders here to keep all easily stored files.
All the files that you create in Word, etc. must be saved somewhere to keep them.

Any file (Word or other) that you save in the Documents can be copied by opening Documents > right click on the file > Send to > in the drop-down Menu that opens, you will see your Flash Drive > just select it.

  • How to automatically store scans on a USB flash drive

How can I change the default destination for the scans in Windows 7 Fax & Scan go somewhere other than my C:\.  I want all scans go to a USB flash drive and NEVER written on the C:\ drive at all, but can not find a way to do it.

    It is not easy.

    See this thread--> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-fax-and-scan-move-default-folder-location/221b8942-1242-4bc5-8350-5f68a68fd02b

In particular, see the response of J Thorne on November 22, 2012.  See also the answer of wizzardking on April 30, 2014.  Ignore the 'response '.

I have my doubts, however, about the universal applicability of the solution of J Thorne (and directions of research of the wizzardking seem to either correct for me).

My scanner does not use Windows Fax and Scan and so I might miss the registry entries that point to "Documents scanned.  This is perhaps why I have not found references to the 'Documents' in my registry.  What I can tell you is that

    (a) I reinstalled my whole profile on my D: drive.

    (b) Accordingly, "My Documents" is located at D:\Users\\Documents; and

    (c) I have a "Documents" folder located in D:\Users\\Documents\Scanned Documents.

I do not have a "Documents" folder on my C drive:- but I do not know if WF & S would have created such a file there if I had put in place a scanner that uses WF & S.

Another issue I have with the solution of J Thorne is the name of the current folder 'Documents' and not 'My Documents' (the latter is a "junction point" - a pointer to the actual location, see the LINK).  For example, the registry looking for "My Documents" may not come to something useful.

You only must not move your entire "My Documents" (i.e., C:\Users\Documents) folder on your flash drive.  IMO, that would be very dangerous.

My suggestion is - very important - create a Restore Point or otherwise back up your registry (LINK) and then use regedit.exe to search the registry for the 'digitized Documents' (without the quotes).  If you find the entries that point to a location on the C: drive, create a new folder on your USB key and change the registry accordingly.  You can also search for 'My Documents' or simply 'Documents' - in each case, do not include the quotes.

Keep in mind that if you delete you flash drive and you connect to something else, the next time you insert the drive flash it may assign a different drive letter - so WF & S may throw an error or your scans can be found somewhere that you didn't intend them to be.

    Good luck.

  • What is the best way to transfer pictures from an old computer to a flash drive or a drive back then to a new computer?

What is the best way to transfer pictures from an old computer to a flash drive or a drive back then to a new computer?

The easiest and most reliable I've found is to make the direct drag-and-drop method.

    (1) on the old computer, open your Windows Explorer and go to your photos.

    (2) open another Windows Explorer window and access your 'Computer' folder and in your flash drive

    (3) drag the photos to the flash drive.

    (4) take the flash drive on the new computer and drag them into your images folder

  • bought a new flash drive but it says it is protected, and I'm not allowed

I got a new flash player, but when I insert in one of my usb ports, it says "unable to access q: because you are not allowed to" how to fix this?

    Hello

Have you tried with another pen drive or flash drive
I wanted to clear if problem with usb or flash drive
Check same flash with another computer

However, you can follow this to fix

    1. Remove the flash drive of its port on your computer. Check the rear end of the flash player and see if there is a tab that can be moved.
    2. Click the tab on the back of the flash drive in the position marked as 'Unlock '. Plug the flash drive in its port on your computer and then click on the option "Open folder to view files" when a window appears, asking for an action you want to take.
    3. Click and then drag the file that you want to open on your desktop. Open the file and attempt to make changes to see if you receive an error indicating that the file is set to read-only mode.
    4. Choose the Option "Properties".
    5. Right-click on the file. "Scroll to the bottom of the context menu, and then click Properties of the option" and.
    6. The "Read-only" box
    7. Go to the "Général" tab and then scroll down to the heading "attributes". Uncheck the box marked 'Read only' if it is currently enabled. Click on 'OK '.
    8. The icon 'CMD '.
    9. Open the start menu if the 'Read only' checkbox is grayed out and you can not click on it. Click "Run" and type "Cmd" If you use Windows XP or an earlier version of the operating system. In the search box, type "CMD", and then double-click the icon that appears if you are using Windows Vista.
    10. The command prompt
    11. Type of the expression "attrib - r + s" followed by the location of your USB, for example "attrib - r + s E:\. "If your flash drive is designated as drive"E:\. "on your computer. Press 'Enter' to enter the command and remove the functionality of the drive read-only.
    12. Drag the file that you want to change once again, on the desktop, then open it and try to change it!

  • put the photos on a flash drive.

I'm new to computers.  I was sent a lot of pictures that landed somehow in libraries.  How can I put them on a USB stick

Additional information from the DUP thread:

cannot open photos received in email

I received pictures in e-mail. I put in my pictures folder. When I looked for them, they are listed as JPG and a number. I want to organize and put on a flash drive. I opened one and click on COPY. Now, it will not be open. What I've done wrong?

Insert the flash drive into a USB port.

Go to your photos directory, then right-click on a photo and use the "SEND TO".

Your flash drive will appear as a removable drive in the list of destinations.

Note that this will leave a copy on your computer, which is a good thing... :-)
