Management changes in Master Pages.

Hello

I created a PDF form using livecycle designer.

I got a template which is to have an editable region. When the fields are changed in any page, I want to change to also be reflected in the other pages.

How can I do that. Is this possible?

Best regards, Raghu

Try to change the Global binding for the field.

Thank you

  • change the master page in muse

It is a page of a master, I want to change it is to say change the depth and I can do so only on the master who change them all-hw can I do this on a page

    Thanks in advance

In fact, to change the height of a given page, there are two approaches that do not involve the master page.

    1. simply add content. Pages in Muse, as the pages on the web, grow in size vertically when adding content. If you draw a rectangle in the middle of the page, then drag it down the foot moves downwards and the page will expand to accommodate that.

    2. go in the Properties Page and explicitly set a larger minimum page height. This sets the initial page height before any content is added. This setting on an individual page replaces the value of the master page.

    Hello

It would seem that the Master Page has an associated Style sheet (CSS file) that differs from the first page you associate with that.

Fortunately, this is a fairly simple process to re - associate a style sheet given with one or more subjects. Just open the pod of the list of subjects, select all, right click and choose Properties. Click on the appearance tab, and then choose the CSS file.

You can also change your Master Page so that it references the CSS file. In this way, when you associate it with the subjects, it should carry along the desired reference of the Style sheet.

    See you soon... Rick

  • How global master pages changes and reference...?

Here is my scenario, I have several technical documents (books) who are between 40 and 90 chapters.  I need to make overall on the master pages overrides and reference (logos, etc).  How can I change the master pages in the book without having to change each chapter separately master/reference page?

I was not the creator of these books, and I'm fairly new to framemaker.  I have a lot of experience in Indesign and Pagemaker.

The original documents were created in version 8.0 and I use version 9.0

    Thanks for the help-

Either get a chapter just as you want, or create a master (recommended) file, is not in any book, but who has all the settings properly.

    Open your file of "master".

Open all the files in the book (Shift + file > open). In the book file, select all the files of the component to which you want to apply the changes. Do file > import Formats > and specify your master file as source.

If you only want to update the master and ref pages, simply select these options (template =) layouts.

In most cases, you do not want to activate the checkboxes that remove the replacements.

  • multiple automatic master page assignments in an InDesign document

I got quite a request of my client, and I don't know if this is possible. We are working on a multiple-chapter, each chapter as its own document, manual. They want what he delivered under a pdf print and interactive pdf. So far so good.

Now comes the part that I can't quite wrap my head around. They want different templates for each type of pdf and want only a delivered InDesign file. The masters will be probably different headers (created in Illustrator) and elements assigned. They also talk about the different margins, and I hope that they decide against it.

I pronounce the InDesign files, but also print and interactive files. The client wants something that she can work well with in the future.

    So, my questions:

    (1) is there an easy way to change the Master pages in a document without changing the presentation? Perhaps using a script any? Is it possible to use a book .indb file to achieve this? I really don't want to have to reassign the master pages

    (2) I found that pages in the documents does not always block for text frames in master pages, especially the first in threaded frames. Any ideas why this happens? When I put the text to the second, third, fourth etc pages they lock to the master. This is the first image I have trouble with. So if I can't solve this problem, so I have to also make sure that all text blocks are always aligned correctly.

I hope I gave enough information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I don't know exactly what's there for tutorials, but I suspect that if do a search of conditional text in InDesign you'll find more than one.

My workflow has not yet necessary to alternative layouts (come close once on a brochure for page American and European sizes, but he managed with two files because the customer was still CS3 and did not want to update), but I probably strongly consider if the customer insists on two layouts. If everything that they change the graphic and you use conditional text you can produce one, change the conditions and the other output. There is no move to do something manual along the line here.

How to make scrolling text or twisties work in the footer of a master page section?

We try to add drop-down text menu / twisties in footer of each topic so that our clients can access company, product, technical support of any subject information. To do this, the most logical is to change the master page and add content in the footer.

    We have these main sections:

    Contact the Doc Team

    Documentation PDF

    Support links

    Information about the company

    Product information

Here is roughly what I want to be like him once that the user he develops:

    Contact the Doc Team

    Send your comments

    Documentation PDF

    Readme file

    Manuals

    Support links

    Technical support

    Forum

    Regional office

    Information about the company

    Address

    Web site

    Product information

    Name of the product

    Version

    Web site

But when I open the master page in the main editing view, the ability to add the drop-down list feature is grayed out inside HR.

I tried to create the footer drop-down content in a separate test topic and then copy and paste directly into the master page. HR removes such content from the minute I'm trying to save him, leaving only the related topics. Example of text that is deleted:

    <? HR-droptext_start class = "droptext" id = "POPUP542020552" style = "" display: none; '? " >

    < class p = "footerpar" > Readme.pdf | < a href = "#" class = "footerlink" > LINK

    HERE < /a > < /p >

    < class p = "footerpar" > printable manuals | < a href = "#" class = "footerlink" > LINK

    HERE < /a > < /p > <? HR-droptext_end? >

Are there workarounds to accomplish twisties on a section of the footer of a master page without using an external .js file?

I may try a road .jquery if I can't get HR to behave, but would like to just use the page master itself without other files.

I finally got drop downs working inside a .hts which is then inside the .htt footer section.

I discovered that the problems in the CSS I posted in the pictures above are attributable mainly from my own CSS problems.

However, when I tried to add images twistie, bad new...

Twisties are all or nothing in RoboHelp. You apply all the drop Downs or None.

That won't work for us, since our footer is a background more dark.

So I created my own downfall personalized stockings with jQuery and CSS.

    And they worked!

    Well well, mostly...

Long story short: it has been a painful week and the other half, mostly spent trying to get this .hts of footer to the appearance and behavior of the way I want it too in my chm. I had to do a LOT of trial and error and additional testing to figure out something that works.

    Things I've learned:

    • Square pegs can go in the round holes with a lot of hammering and a lot of mess.
    • CHMS are old. They are not easier to work with when it comes to the use of styles. Many things are not taken in charge you can do in a normal browser.
    • Under the hood CHMS use IE 7, so you have to use CSS that matches that version.
    • You can work around some limitations that HR requires using methods and tool parts.
    • Use a repository. If you make a mistake or fall a path that you want to cancel or put on the shelf for later, you can do it easily. (I'm really happy that I did. I could come and go between my revisions and see what the code worked and which did not easily).
    • In a repository, use a test project that mimics your production project, including the folder structure, but on a much smaller scale you can do faster chm builds. (I got my footer to work Monday, but when I moved it into our real project, the footer did not work on CHMS in subfolders. So I had to build a workaround for this. I would have seen previously had I better imitated my directory structure.)
    • Don't get so sucked into approach that you neglect other tools or methods that might be simpler. (I spent a good amount of time trying to get HR drop downs working in HR footer when jQuery, once I figured how to make, provided a simpler approach.)

Result of my footer (with custom twisties and drop downs in expansion):

  • Can release you a master page

You can stream a page of the master setting everything using other Masters?

  • Master pages does not

I'm editing a document, InDesign (2014 cc). I changed the master pages. I "applied" these master pages in my document pages. And,..., nothing happens. What happens here? Why document pages do not reflect the changes to the master pages? I "applied" master pages several times intant. The placement of all the text boxes remain the same, that it was.

    Thank you

    Peter

When you place content in a frame master he is automatically overridden on the document page, and any changes made to it will lose their link to the page master. If all you do is text, then you would lose the link to text attributes in the main storyline, but other changes should stay linked. If you are also changing the geometry or the position of the frame after you add the text, you would lose the connections geometyr and position and this kind of chang on the mast would result is no longer in the pages of existing document.

  • How to set up an editable text box that can be controlled by master pages

I am designing a book. I created a master page to the first page of each chapter. I also need the text box content to be in a different size. So I tried including a blank text box in the master. That's when I met a problem - to place text, I have to manually replace the text box on the first page (Page of chapter) making a page element... the following pages have no problem however, as the son of text in the main text boxes. Now when I want to change the size or formatting of this text box, I can no longer use the master and have to manually apply to each chapter of this.

Is there a better way to do it. I'm on a deadline, a quick response would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    -International

After that you override the master element on the page, it retains aspects on the page of the document that you do not change. So, if you change the size or geometry of the image on the page of the document, change the master page will have no effect. If all you have to do is out of the text frame to fill it with the type, you can still control its size and position through the frame of the master page. If you do need to change size every time you release and add text, I am not aware so as to always be driven from the master page.

  • Master Pages to control the body of text Styles?

I think that I must not understand Master Pages.

I want to create a set of blocks of text on each page in my book. I'd like the images to be the same on each page, with the same font, justification, size, etc. for each frame (and I'm not put on blocks of text from one page to the other).

If I try to use Master Pages to put all in place and then you change the master page by pasting the different text on each page, I lose the ability to change the fonts, the sizes of fonts, etc. on all pages at once. Since I replaced the captain for this block of text, change the mask is no longer affects this text.

Should I use another way to set the font, font size, the justification, the etc in frames on all pages at once? (I join resize or move these blocks of text on all pages at once, too, but just pasting text into a substituted master framework seems to let me to modify the framework itself.)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

What you describe is paragraph Styles: font, size, justification, etc. When you use a paragraph style say body text and want to make a global change, just change the assigned to body text paragraph style. Can you give an example of the "set of blocks of text on each page. Also if you can tell us what version of ID you use, Mac/Windows?

  • Head / Work Flow / Master Page confusion

    Hello ,.

I think that I am not understand a basic concept here with regard to the workflow.

I have installed a new Master Page in the Document that contains a head on one side and it imported into Document B.

When you work with the new Page Master Document B, I decided that the head side had to be larger.

I go to a Master Page view and then choose Format > Page layout > column... layout I get the following warning:

    http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/1945/smni.png

I click OK and get the following warning:

    http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/8884/hngx.png

The column layout box and I can change the width of the head to one side but, as defendants, only the Page of Master of law is changed.

How do I change the Master Page imported and what term I don't understand?

Once A Doc formats are imported into Doc B, there is no other connection between the two, then, really, that's about Doc B.

On master pages, change each of the Masters using the Panel object properties and you should be good.

IIRC, the Format > Page Layout > column layout works more consistently when your cursor is in the main stream on the pages of body.

Now that you have noodled with the masters and order of column layout, you may need to change the steps a little, but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

  • Applying master pages, the work is lost

While he was trying to apply a temporary change of master pages in a book that was almost finished, CS3 seized and closed. Reopened and try to undo the changes, but the work went it seems.

I don't see my work after this change and cannot cancel.

I was intending to apply some guiding principles through the entire book through master pages. Indvertantly, there was a new block of text in the whole page with applied wrap around her, and then by applying master to the rest of the book, all the work of text has been pushed back because of the new block of text in the master with dressing applied to it.

I returned masters, removed the text block and attempted to apply this additional pages with dressing. It may still work.

Please go to the format (i.e. apply to the Sec1:1 - 100) to apply master pages. My notes are lost and it is not detailed in the help section correctly, although here somewhere on the forum I'm sure. I have

If you have a book of 100 pages and you want to apply the changes across the entire book, which form is correct:

    Sec1:1 - 100

    or

    Sec1:1 - Sec1:100

    or

    ?

The accident is probably not connected to master pages (although there was some sort of bug, perhaps with masters of several columns, but I can't remember which version it was in). First, CS3 is connected to the channel 5.0.4? Second, have you tried to export to .inx to clean the file? See remove minor corruption by exporting

This kind of behavior is also not rare if you have a bad policy.

  • InDesign CS 5.5 points to "Override the Master Page" doesn't work

I am working to set up a model with layers that have different art on each layer to cycled as another layer used on each page.

They are all on the master page with a single lit.

Dragging to the bottom of page two, turn off the first piece of art, and on the second, which is on the next layer down, change both the master layer and page 1. «Overiding the master...» "on each page does not work.

What is the last layer that is on, changes all pages to match. "Detach" I found online as a way to select an element on the page to change, does not appear anywhere.

It's as if they are connected in reverse. Page 3, even with the verified replacement option, by selecting another layer will be not only the change of page 3, but it changes page 1 and 2, and it changes the master page.

    Any ideas?

That is right. Layer settings are wide document.

But it seems to me that you try to use master pages, almost like live pages. The only thing that should be on them are things that will always be there.
