On the Master Page of the page style to add changes

Hello

I have a question about adding Page Mater in my list of topics, styles of change topic (page)

I followed ongoing measures are here:

1: create a project by importing a word doc.

2: set the Master Page by file > new > Master Page.

3, select all or a topic in the list of topics > right click > select Properties, and then add the master page

Do more high style of the steps in the topic in which I added some changes of master page

Please help

Thank you

Hello

It would seem that the Master Page has an associated Style sheet (CSS file) that differs from the first page you associate with that.

Fortunately, this is a fairly simple process to re - associate a style sheet given with one or more subjects. Just open the pod of the list of subjects, select all, right click and choose Properties. Click on the appearance tab, and then choose the CSS file.

You can also change your Master Page so that it references the CSS file. In this way, when you associate it with the subjects, it should carry along the desired reference of the Style sheet.

See you soon... Rick

  • Reset the paragraph Style - how to change?

    I use a file that has been designed with paragraph for English styles, but I do a layout in Japanese. My problem is when I try to justify the sentences in the text, the copy does not extend to the end of the text box. I want to make some text upwards or downwards and it does not move the cursor and unexpected text moves down or up to the next or previous line. I can't control it. I guess it's an implementation of rule and I wonder how to change. Thank you.

    In addition to what Nini said, there are two ways to compose text in ID, the composer of the paragraph, which looks at the entire paragraph and allows you to adjust line breaks to get the best balance (which can result in changes as you type) and the composer of the only line which resembles the current line. The paragraph composer is the value by default and for justified text, at least in the Roman languages, tends to give more uniform spacing around the paragraph, but you sacrifice control over line breaks. Adding nonbreaking spaces, or selection of short pieces of text and adding no. Break may force the ID to make a difference for you. No no not the Japanese version, I don't know what effect it might have, but you might want to take a look at changing the composer as well as Lithuanian.

  • Table of contents using a style/section of the master page

    I'm at the top of my head I think... and probably incorrectly to the top of my document.  I hope I can quickly explain where I am:

    Question 1

    I'd like a Table of contents to use 10 section headers that appear throughout my document.  Here's how I set up:

    • In the master page, a place for the header of section and it gives a paragraph style.
    • Then, throughout the document, I used the "numbering and section options" start each new section and give this article is the unique name.

    When I went to generate the Table of contents, I've specified using this particular paragraph style that I used for the section headers, but nothing appears (except for the title, I asked for the General table of contents).  It's as if this isn't to find the sections - or this style (which applies only to the master page).

    Where am I wrong?

    Question 2

    I wish that my Table of contents, not numbered.  How do I do that?

    Shanell

    I don't know that you understood my post. I was able to do exactly what you did - create a master page with a frame and the section marker character (indicating "section" on the master page) and then add the actual text of the marker in the numbering and section options. The text appears on the page of live document.

    When I tried to do a table of contents, text was not resumed UNTIL I selected and carried this master frame on the page of the document (Ctrl + Shift + click on Windows or Cmd + Shift + click on Mac on the image that you want to replace). After substitution, the text appeared as scheduled in the table of contents.

    You're right about the number of page for this page. You can use another master without a page number, or you can cancel and delete the master page number frame. I assume that you will need to use a different master for the first page and pages in any section to avoid having the marker appear on all pages, or you can replace only the first page so that you don't repeat entries in the table of contents for each page of each section.  If you use the marker as a running header Section, you can learn more about Variables header running in the help files in place. In many ways, the use of a variable can be simpler and more direct.

  • How to edit a page that uses the layout of the master page?

    Hi I made a layout in the master page and its now on all pages, but I want on some pages of the stuff away but I can't edit this more or its not let me remove/resize or else its not let me I have just to see the layers I can turn their market but I there is no arrow I can click Open all that is inside.

    This is how works the master page. You cannot change the things that you put there on normal pages.
    On master pages, you should leave that parts of your layout which sholud look the same on each page. Other parts of the layout must be placed directly on the pages.

  • Lose the Master Page assignments after import layout

    I have a book with about 40 chapters, and I'm trying to change the page layout.  I update the master pages in Chapter 1 and then use the import formats to import master pages in the other chapters.

    However, when I go in the other chapters, the first pages lose their 'first' assignment page and just came with a normal allocation of L/R.

    If I Master Page use manually and change the first "chapter" page it works OK, but who will become a bit tedious for those chapters.

    Is it possible to keep the existing master page to use assignments when importing to page layout?

    Thank you!

    John

    Ah, interesting.  Of course, during the test of this morning, he had not this problem.

    But your message prompted me to finally understand that cryptic MasterPageMaps and so I made a chart like this, which seems to do the trick:

    Paragraph tag name Right hand Master Page (or master Front Page) Left Master Page Indicator of rank (single, on the pages up to this amended) Comments
    Titrechapitre First Unique Titrechapitre page as the first master page

    Thanks as always for your quick and helpful answer!

  • Script will not apply the paragraph style

    Hello

    I'm new to scripting in InDesign (CS3), and I'm trying to understand why the scipt below does not apply a style in the following text file? :

    < ASCII-WIN >

    < ParaStyle: Heading 1 > who are we? < ParaStyle >:

    For ease of reading, I have shortend the text file to just two lines.

    The script that I use to open and to format the text file is:

    Create a new document.

    myDocument var = app.documents.add ();

    Set the units of measure and the origin of the rule.

    myDocument.viewPreferences.horizontalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.points;

    myDocument.viewPreferences.verticalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.points;

    myDocument.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin = RulerOrigin.pageOrigin;

    Get a reference to the first master spread.

    var myMasterSpread = myDocument.masterSpreads.item (0);

    Get a reference to preferences on the margins of the first page in the Master spread.

    var myMarginPreferences = myMasterSpread.pages.item (0) .marginPreferences;

    Now set up the page margins and columns.

    myMarginPreferences.left = 4;

    myMarginPreferences.top = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.right = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.bottom = 78;

    myMarginPreferences.columnCount = 2;

    myMarginPreferences.columnGutter = 14;

    The margins of page and columns for the right-hand page.

    var myMarginPreferences = myMasterSpread.pages.item (1) .marginPreferences;

    myMarginPreferences.left = 48;

    myMarginPreferences.top = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.right = 70;

    myMarginPreferences.bottom = 78;

    myMarginPreferences.columnCount = 3;

    myMarginPreferences.columnGutter = 14;

    Adding Master Page items

    var myMasterSpread = myDocument.masterSpreads.item (0);

    var myLeftPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (0);

    var myRightPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (1);

    var myLeftFooter = myLeftPage.textFrames.add ();

    myLeftFooter.geometricBounds = [70, 742, 728, 528];

    myLeftFooter.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myLeftFooter.contents = SpecialCharacters.autoPageNumber;

    myLeftFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .pointSize = 11;

    myLeftFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .leading = 14;

    var myRightFooter = myRightPage.textFrames.add ();

    myRightFooter.geometricBounds = [48, 742, 728, 542];

    myRightFooter.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myRightFooter.contents = SpecialCharacters.autoPageNumber;

    myRightFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .pointSize = 11;

    myRightFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .leading = 14;

    myRightFooter.parentStory.characters.item (0) .justification = Justification.rightAlign;

    Adding master text frames

    var myLeftPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (0);

    var myRightPage = myMasterSpread.pages.item (1);

    var myLeftTextFrame = myLeftPage.textFrames.add ();

    myLeftTextFrame.geometricBounds = [70, 70, 714, 528];

    myLeftTextFrame.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myLeftTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnCount = 3;

    myLeftTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnGutter = 14;

    Add a label to make the image easier to find later.

    myLeftTextFrame.label = "BodyTextFrame";

    var myRightTextFrame = myRightPage.textFrames.add ();

    myRightTextFrame.geometricBounds = [70, 48, 714, 542];

    myRightTextFrame.textFramePreferences.firstBaselineOffset = FirstBaseline.leadingOffset;

    myRightTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnCount = 3;

    myRightTextFrame.textFramePreferences.textColumnGutter = 14;

    Add a label to make the image easier to find later.

    myRightTextFrame.label = "BodyTextFrame";

    Link the two frames using the nextTextFrame property.

    myLeftTextFrame.nextTextFrame = myRightTextFrame;

    The substitution of Master Page points and adds text

    var myTextFrame = myDocument.masterSpreads.item (0).pages.item (1).textFrames.item (0) .override (myDocument.pag es.item (0));

    Add text by setting the contents of the insertion of a string.

    In JavaScript, "\r" is a return character.

    .silence myTextFrame.insertionPoints.item (0) = "dok\r";

    Adding and applying a paragraph Style

    var myParagraphStyle = myDocument.paragraphStyles.item ("title 1");

    try {}

    var myName = myParagraphStyle.name;

    }

    {} catch (MonErreur)

    //The style of paragraph don't have not exist, so create it.

    myParagraphStyle = myDocument.paragraphStyles.add ({name: 'Title 1'});

    }

    We need to create a color. Check if the color already exists.

    myColor var = myDocument.colors.item ("Green");

    try {}

    myName = myColor.name;

    }

    {} catch (MonErreur)

    //The color have not exist, so create it.

    myColor = myDocument.colors.add ({name: 'Green', model: ColorModel.process, colorValue:[100,0,100,0]});})

    }

    Now set the formatting of the paragraph style.

    myParagraphStyle.appliedFont = "Arial";

    myParagraphStyle.fontStyle = "Bold";

    myParagraphStyle.pointSize = 24;

    myParagraphStyle.spaceAfter = 24;

    myParagraphStyle.spaceBefore = 24;

    myParagraphStyle.fillColor = myDocument.colors.item ("Green");

    Apply the style to the paragraph.

    myDocument.pages.item (0).textFrames.item (0).paragraphs.item (0) .applyParagraphStyle (myParag raphStyle, true);

    You can also use:

    myDocument.pages.item (0).textFrames.item (0).paragraphs.item (0) .appliedParagraphStyle = //myParagraphStyle;

    Import a text file

    Display a standard dialog box open the file to select a text file.

    var monFichierTexte is File.openDialog ("choose a text file");.

    If you selected a text file, and if you didn't press Cancel,

    Place the file of text on the first insertion point after the title.

    If ((monFichierTexte! = "") & & (monFichierTexte!) (= null)) {}

    myTextFrame.insertionPoints.item(-1).place (myTextFile);

    }

    Place a graphic

    Display a standard dialog box open the file to select a graphic file.

    var myGraphicFile is File.openDialog ("choose a graphic file");.

    If you have selected a graphics file, and if you didn't press Cancel,

    Place the graphic file on the page.

    If ((myGraphicFile! = "") & & (myGraphicFile!) (= null)) {}

    var myGraphic = myDocument.pages.item (0) .place (myGraphicFile);

    //Since you can place multiple graphics at once, the place method

    //returns a table. For the graph you have placed, get the first

    //item in the table (beginning of JavaScript arrays with element 0).

    myGraphic = myGraphic [0];

    //Create a style object to apply to the graphic image.

    var myObjectStyle = myDocument.objectStyles.item("GraphicFrame");

    try {

    var myName = myObjectStyle.name;

    }

    catch (MonErreur) {}

    //The an object style have not exist, so create it.

    myObjectStyle = myDocument.objectStyles.add({name:"GraphicFrame"});)

    }

    myObjectStyle.enableStroke = true;

    myObjectStyle.strokeWeight = 3;

    myObjectStyle.strokeType = myDocument.strokeStyles.item("Solid");

    myObjectStyle.strokeColor = myDocument.colors.item("Green");

    //The frame containing the graphic is the parent of the graphic.

    myFrame var = myGraphic.parent;

    myFrame.applyObjectStyle (myObjectStyle, true);

    //Resize the frame to a specific size.

    myFrame.geometricBounds = [0,0,600,600];

    //Fit the graph in the image proportionally.

    myFrame.fit (FitOptions.proportionally);

    / / Next, mount the frame to the resized image.

    myFrame.fit (FitOptions.frameToContent);

    var myBounds = myFrame.geometricBounds;

    var myGraphicWidth = myBounds [3] - myBounds [1];

    //Move the graphic frame.

    var myPageWidth = myDocument.documentPreferences.pageWidth;

    var myTopMargin = myDocument.pages.item (0).marginPreferences.top;

    myFrame.move ([myPageWidth-myGraphicWidth, myTopMargin]);

    //Apply a wrap to the graphic frame.

    myFrame.textWrapPreferences.textWrapType = TextWrapTypes.boundingBoxTextWrap;

    myFrame.textWrapPreferences.textWrapOffset = [12, 24, 12, 24].

    }

    I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey, Ron.

    The problem has nothing to do with your script. You can see if you attempt to place the file from indesign tagged text by hand.

    Your instinct for divide and conquer for debugging is a good - have a short text file to work with is very useful - of course this is also true for the script.

    During the validation of the scripts on the forum, please do not use the syntax insert > feature Java which lies behind the > arrow in the toolbar. Otherwise, cut and paste your script are difficult requiring manual corrections.

    Anyway, your problem is that each paragraph can have only a single paragraph style, and it's the last one that you define.

    So in your IDTT file, you set the heading 1 paragraph style, enter the content of the paragraph and then set the style of paragraph votes to zero.

    If you have included a line break before setting the style of paragraph votes to zero, you must set the None style for the following paragraph. But since you have not, it resets just the style to the current paragraph.

    In short: success back before .

  • Add/change the columns of data type (scripting)

    Hello

    I am writing a script to add default columns and their values in tables. So far, for me, it is possible to add columns to an existing table in the model.

    Then, I want to add value to the data type. I discovered there is a method called getDataType(). So far, I have not found the "setter; for this property.

    Like other scripts, I started by creating a table with columns, and then using the API to read the values.

    A simplified version of my code:

    get the columns of table

    myTab var = model.getTableSet () .getByName ("T_POSITIONS");

    colArray = myTab.getElementsCollection () .toArray ();

    loop through columns

    for (i = 0; i < colArray.length; i ++) {}

    the type of var data = colArray [i] .getDataType ();

    model.getAppView () .log (colArray [i] + "a datatype" + dataType);

    colArray [i] .setDataType ("VARCHAR2 (1)");

    }

    An error occurs when I want to run this script: could not find setDataType function in the object ID.

    I can't find the right method to add/change the datatype property.

    Any information would be appreciated.

  • Page style changing page to page (fonts, positioning), even with the same master page.

    OK, Ive never noticed this before. Here's the question.

    I have elements such as fonts, positioning evolution page by page. Even when they share the same master page.

    For example. In my footer using fonts im 'A' with focus on my positioning jig.  I'm using this master page for my map of the whole of the site.

    When I publish the site and go to other pages are 'A' becomes Ariail or default, loses all the attributes style and is now turned to the left.

    What is happening here.

  • Master Pages to control the body of text Styles?

    I think that I must not understand Master Pages.

    I want to create a set of blocks of text on each page in my book. I'd like the images to be the same on each page, with the same font, justification, size, etc. for each frame (and I'm not put on blocks of text from one page to the other).

    If I try to use Master Pages to put all in place and then you change the master page by pasting the different text on each page, I lose the ability to change the fonts, the sizes of fonts, etc. on all pages at once. Since I replaced the captain for this block of text, change the mask is no longer affects this text.

    Should I use another way to set the font, font size, the justification, the etc in frames on all pages at once? (I join resize or move these blocks of text on all pages at once, too, but just pasting text into a substituted master framework seems to let me to modify the framework itself.)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

    What you describe is paragraph Styles: font, size, justification, etc. When you use a paragraph style say body text and want to make a global change, just change the assigned to body text paragraph style. Can you give an example of the "set of blocks of text on each page. Also if you can tell us what version of ID you use, Mac/Windows?

    Hello Edi,

    This normally happens when you add any code iframe in Muse design.

    If you are using any 3rd party code that creates an iframe then you will have to style code iframe.

    However if it is a page by default to Muse without 3rd party widget or iframe code, I will propose you to publish the file and let us know the direct link here so that we can look at the site codes.

  • Combo / twisties in the master page footer section?

    Windows 7 64 bit

    CHM output

    How to make scrolling text or twisties work in the footer of a master page section?

    We try to add drop-down text menu / twisties in footer of each topic so that our clients can access company, product, technical support of any subject information. To do this, the most logical is to change the master page and add content in the footer.

    We have these main sections:

    Contact the Doc Team

    Documentation PDF

    Support links

    Information about the company

    Product information

    Here is roughly what I want to be like him once that the user he develops:

    Contact the Doc Team

    Send your comments

    Readme file

    Manuals

    Support links

    But when I open the master page in the main editing view, the ability to add the drop-down list feature is grayed out inside HR.

    I tried to create the footer drop-down content in a separate test topic and then copy and paste directly into the master page. HR removes such content from the minute I'm trying to save him, leaving only the related topics. Example of text that is deleted:

    <? HR-droptext_start class = "droptext" id = "POPUP542020552" style = "" display: none; '? " >

    < class p = "footerpar" > Readme.pdf | < a href = "#" class = "footerlink" > LINK

    Are there workarounds to accomplish twisties on a section of the footer of a master page without using an external .js file?

    I may try a road .jquery if I can't get HR to behave, but would like to just use the page master itself without other files.

    I finally got drop downs working inside a .hts which is then inside the .htt footer section.

    I discovered that the problems in the CSS I posted in the pictures above are attributable mainly from my own CSS problems.

    However, when I tried to add images twistie, bad new...

    Twisties are all or nothing in RoboHelp. You apply all the drop Downs or None.

    That won't work for us, since our footer is a background more dark.

    So I created my own downfall personalized stockings with jQuery and CSS.

    And they worked!

    Well well, mostly...

    Long story short: it has been a painful week and the other half, mostly spent trying to get this .hts of footer to the appearance and behavior of the way I want it too in my chm. I had to do a LOT of trial and error and additional testing to figure out something that works.

    Things I've learned:

    • Square pegs can go in the round holes with a lot of hammering and a lot of mess.
    • CHMS are old. They are not easier to work with when it comes to the use of styles. Many things are not taken in charge you can do in a normal browser.
    • Under the hood CHMS use IE 7, so you have to use CSS that matches that version.
    • You can work around some limitations that HR requires using methods and tool parts.
    • Use a repository. If you make a mistake or fall a path that you want to cancel or put on the shelf for later, you can do it easily. (I'm really happy that I did. I could come and go between my revisions and see what the code worked and which did not easily).
    • In a repository, use a test project that mimics your production project, including the folder structure, but on a much smaller scale you can do faster chm builds. (I got my footer to work Monday, but when I moved it into our real project, the footer did not work on CHMS in subfolders. So I had to build a workaround for this. I would have seen previously had I better imitated my directory structure.)
    • Don't get so sucked into approach that you neglect other tools or methods that might be simpler. (I spent a good amount of time trying to get HR drop downs working in HR footer when jQuery, once I figured how to make, provided a simpler approach.)

    Result of my footer (with custom twisties and drop downs in expansion):

  • Related texts master pages rendered badly in the new Muse Relsase February 2016

    Installed the new Muse February 2016 exit 22/02/2016.  Only on the Master pages, I have style of the texts that are RELATED to other places on my site.  When I SAW in Muse, everything's fine, then when I PUBLISH to Adobe Business Catalyst, some of these texts of Master Pages only are not displayed correctly, specifically now appear in verses BLACK color that I place originally, which in this case was a RED color.   Where is the problem in the Muse or Adobe Business Catalyst?
