Manufacturer of defunct motherboard: Soyo.

Is there any hope to raise this computer up and running? Soyo went bankrupt in 2001, while the latest drivers for my P4S Dragon Ultra are for XP and not will not even install on my computer.

I was able to get almost everything works without any driver: LAN, AGP, PCI and even integrated audio. But I still can't get my USB ports and IDE working properly. The USB ports on the motherboard, run as version 1.1, at low speed, even if they run as 2.0 under XP without driver. The front USB on my case to do the same thing, but the PCI USB card works like the 2.0 version. In regards to my IDE problem, Windows lose my second hard drive, then randomly find and treat it as a removable storage device. The same is true for the second partition on my first hard drive, but there is no problem with my external hard drive...

Is there a place for the Soyo for Windows 7 drivers, or y at - it a Microsoft update that I can download? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Randy

You could try driverguide.com because they do not have drivers Soyo,
If one is for Win7 or not I don't know. Your best bet
is to go back to XP or nget a new motherboard.

  • Motherboard manufacturer: hidden...

    Hello

As you could see in my other previous topics, I am quite interesting in an old Satellite 1670 CDS of tuning.

To do this, I must of course know the manufacturer of the motherboard of the machine.

Best software to identify the material (such as Sisoft Sandra) gave no results, just:

    # System:
    -Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
    -Model: S1670CDS
    -Version: PS167E-19886-05
    -Serial number: 80726155GþSS167-1988605
    -ID: 00000000-00000000-00000000-00000000
    # Motherboard
    -Manufacturer: Null
-MP Support: none (what's the point?)
    -Model: 888W1
    -Version: Null
    -Serial number: 0123456789AB
    # Chipset
-Model: Corporation Intel 82443BX/ZX/440BX ZX CPU to PCI bridge (AGP implemented)
-Bus: ISA AGP PCI PCMCIA CardBus USB i2c/SMBus
-Main Bus speed: 1 x 99 MHz (transfer rate of 99 MHz)
    -FSB / memory speed: 1 x 100 / 1 x 100 MHz
    -Width: 64 - bit

    Then I just model: 888W1.

I know that the BIOS updates are delivered by Toshiba, the manufacturer must have its own updates but I want to test it.

So I sent an email to Toshiba Europe and did not answer...

Finally, what is the model of the motherboard in this model (maybe it's the same manufacturer for all the old toshiba laptops) manufacturer and real?

I wish that any employee of Toshiba answer this question because it seems to be illegal to hide this information from customers. You buy a product, you have a right to know exactly what are the elements that make it up.

    Thank you.

    Hi Rock

Your comments are very interesting, but otherwise I do not understand why you are doing this whole thing. You know very well that the configuration hardware specifications different workstations ant it is not possible to do a lot of tuning. What kind of work do you need performance so much?

I put t really know what you want to do exactly. This machine is an old one. If I remember it works with about 500 MHz and hat about 32 MB of RAM. Am I wrong? The only thing you can do is to extend the RAM and try to install a new OS.

In my opinion it is not worth to invest a lot of money for this oldie.

  • A1410n on the motherboard heat sensors

I have a pavillion a1410n that heat on the mother sensors on board who were not properly welded.  I looked on the HP website and can not find a local partner of HP who can fix the welds.  HP wants me to spend more than 300 for the computer shipped to them to repair or replace.  Is there another alternative?  I am on a fixed income and really can't afford that much $$, but need to use my computer.

I guess he is not a technician in electronics. I suspect that your system is no longer under warranty. It was a defect of manufacturing of the motherboard.

Why not buy a new replacement motherboard. They are not very expensive. Just don't buy it at HP... too much. The link will take you to one that sells for $59. Do a Google search for the card mother a1410n and you will find more. Once you have a replacement motherboard, you can bring to your independent technician and hire to remove the old and put in the new mobo. Then, your problem is solved. Since the new mobo is exactly the same as your old it is simply a matter of plug all components (including the HARD disk) and get to the top. Are no required reinstallation of the operating system that the HAL is the same.

  • Windows will not start after replacing the motherboard

To begin, I must say that I am pretty clueless when it comes to computer skills.

To summarize, I sent my CPU to a repair shop when my computer has stopped working. I removed my hard drive before starting the repairs because it contains confidential data.  They have narrowed the cause to a faulty motherboard and replaced by a new dissimilar.
At the store, the guy had a vista 64 bit recovery disc so I have it home and tried to fix it. He said it will be a breeze and relatively bug free. As part of the Startup Repair, I tried to drive the Startup Repair, and tests were all successful except one. An error of diagnosis readings
"Unspecified system configuration changes may have caused the problem.
Repair action: repair and checking the integrity of system files
    Result: failed. Error code 0 x 490
    time taken = 720023 ms
Everything I've done has led to a brief blue screen to the Windows loading screen and then it restarts itself.
I also tried to restore to the previous two points, but it has also led to the square - a brief blue screen after the loading screen and restarts on its own windows. I'm not ready to reinstall vista and I can't afford to do it too, because I don't have enough disk space to perform another installation. Nor am I willing to reformat one of my two disks.
If you need additional information on the specifications of the material that must be provided, ask me.
IM at my end intelligence now, and I really hope to solve this problem.
    Thank you.

    Hello

I'm sorry, but you have to completely reinstall the operating system after replacing the motherboard with a different motherboard.

"Startup Repair" is exactly that: a start NOT a repair system repairs

What has happened, it is the operating system on your hard disk contains the drivers for the old motherboard and does not and you can't change drivers in doing what you do.

The only way to solve this problem is to reinstall Vista.

You wipe the hard drive and restart and make sure that the repair shop gave you the disc to install the new drivers of motherboard after you reinstall vista or download on the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard.

And here a question for you to consider, too.

If you bought a copy of Vista retail yourself, you can use the method above to a new installation and then install the new disk motherboard drivers.

But, if your computer is a trademark of purchased manufacturer, HP, Toshiba, etc., you can not change the motherboard that the license of Vista OEM is stuck at motherboard the origin of the manufacturer that it has been installed on and now you canceled your Vista license.

    See you soon.

  • Tecra 8100 - no sound except in mic!

    I have a Tecra 8100 Windows XP.

I can't get sound on the speakers or the headphones emitted by the computer, such as beeps, CD, etc. But if I have to reactivate the microphone, I can hear through the headset, ensure that the microphone picks up (there are a few comments without microphones, proving that the speakers work physically). All volume controls are the maximum and reactivated. All devices are enabled and correctly selected in sound control panels.

Any help would be welcome! Is the sound card, or am I missing a driver? Could not find anything else on the web with similar symptoms. Thanks in advance.

    Hello

A good questions and I never heard of this topic which s...

I think the fist, you should start to update the audio driver of your laptop. Therefore, you can see the Toshiba site for an update:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Before installing the latest version, you must remove the old version first and reboot the laptop.

Maybe a reinstall of Windows with the Toshiba recovery disc could also be useful and in the worst case, it s only a hardware malfunction and it must swap the motherboard. :(

    Welcome them

  • How many years of guarantee?

    Toshiba Qosmio G30-211 SN 37801820G
How all the same guarantee? When you buy a laptop on this site is written in 3 years in service center say 2 years.

More please answer the important question for me!

    (1) with what the serial number of the motherboard, is he?
    (2) what is the date of manufacture of the motherboard Toshiba A5A001964010 SN: C069S48K
    (3) and it is possible to change the graphics card without replacing the motherboard?

    Thank you

Guarantee is also depending on the model of country and laptop. So no one can say that a new laptop has always 2 years warranty for example.
Sometimes it of also necessary to register your laptop on the Web from Toshiba site to get the extra year warranty.

So if the ASP says he has 2 years warranty, it should be ok.

About the serial numbers for the laptop and motherboard, no one can help you here, I think because it s a user to user forum. Therefore, local contact with ASP.

    > Is it possible to change the graphics card without replacing the motherboard?
No, because the graphics chip is fixed on motherboard and nontradable.

    Hello Peter

Please don t get me wrong, but there is not a magic method that you can use and solve this problem.
You know how it works with external devices: either it works or not.

Point is the disk HARD is not faulty and works correctly with other devices. Why it does not work with some mother's good question, but for the manufacturer of the motherboard.

    Hello!

You will find hundreds of discussions here in the forum about this, if you install Windows XP and Vista from a Microsoft disc and the HARD drive can't be detected... So he s strange to read these questions again and again.

However, to install Windows, you need the SATA drivers or let's say the Intel Storage Manager package. It contains the driver you need. You can then create a new installation using nLite [www.nliteos.com]
Or look you at this Toshiba document: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

    Good bye

  • 1670CDS - PCMCIA location settings

I would use this laptop with Windows NT.
For networking, I need set the CCIP-mode PCMCIA controller. However, this option is not in the bios.

Does anyone know how to get to this option?
I tried several bios' are already, without result.

Maybe someone knows the manufacturer of the motherboard?
With that maybe they have a different BIOS that will do the trick.
    The exact modelno. is: S1670CDS / PS167E-19886-OF

    Thank you
    Eric

    Hi Eric

Toshiba supports this device just with W98SE. With the installation of NT, you're on your own. This unit is about 5 years old and I don t know how the BIOS looks like and what options are there.

Sorry, but I think that there is nothing to do.

  • [S1670CDS] Updates for ACPI and Overclocking

    Hello

First of all, let me tell you how happy I am having found such a community; (O)

I used to participate in the "Toshiba Linux users' mailing list, but never had advice windows on it.

    I own a 1670 CD Satellite, which belongs to the ' 1670 CD / 1690 CDT "series.

At the time, I want to overclock this pretty 550 Mhz machine, because it comes with a processor Intel Celeron Coppermine of good potential.

    I encounter these problems:
-Cannot get the temperature of the CPU / fan speed
    * I found a BIOS update to this URL: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_dtlViewDL.jsp?ct=DL&soid=107294&ref=EV&BV_Se ssionID=@@@0242927038.1115376347@@@&BV_EngineID= ccceaddeieliiehcgfkceghdgngdgnn.0
But I already did a more recent update and then hesitate to apply this earlier update, since it could kill the machine.
What are the results of your BIOS up-to-date experiences (multiple applyings of a similar update, bad update timeline [2002, then 2000 and 2001, etc])?
Another strange thing is that the last update of the BIOS file, indicated by Sandra, dating from 2000, but on the site Web of Toshiba, this update is dated 2002.
I'm not sure that CPU and fan have sensors on the Toshiba 16xx series laptops... Someone who knows?
-Impossible to configure the properties of CPU (FSB) in the BIOS
    * Then I give great hope in this update of the ACPI, which could enable these settings. Someone installed an update to ACPI? He did allowed you these parameters?
I've read elsewhere that, even if the BIOS allows the processor settings, this can be done in Windows. I tried with the 'SoftFSB' utility, but he complained of PLL - IC data.
-Failed to get the name of motherboard manufacturer
    * Help overclocking utility in Windows XP, I need to know the model and the manufacturer of the motherboard.
I got with ' SisSoftware Sandra Lite 2005 "(monitoring software) is the following:". "

    # System:
    -Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
    -Model: S1670CDS
    -Version: PS167E-19886-05
    -Serial number: 80726155GþSS167-1988605
    -ID: 00000000-00000000-00000000-00000000
    # Motherboard
    -Manufacturer: Null
-MP Support: none (what's the point?)
    -Model: 888W1
    -Version: Null
    -Serial number: 0123456789AB
    # Chipset
-Model: Corporation Intel 82443BX/ZX/440BX ZX CPU to PCI bridge (AGP implemented)
-Bus: ISA AGP PCI PCMCIA CardBus USB i2c/SMBus
-Main Bus speed: 1 x 99 MHz (transfer rate of 99 MHz)
    -FSB / memory speed: 1 x 100 / 1 x 100 MHz
    -Width: 64 - bit

So I intend to wait your answers before you apply the update, because I don't want it crash.

I'll just search the forum, but could you give information and links to Windows software that work with Toshiba 16xx series (or other series, I'll test it):
-utilities for monitoring (which at least recognizes sensor of CPU, to manage temperature stability after overclocking)
-battery diagnostic utility (I found "BatteryMon" shareware)
    -anything that you think useful

    Thank you; (O)

Well, then, there is a problem with the flashing file I want to run on the laptop.

His name is "s167x_169x_v104.exe" and here is the link:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_dtlViewDL.jsp?CT=DL&soID=107294&ref=EV&BV_Se ssionID=@@@0242927038.1115376347@@@&BV_EngineID= ccceaddeieliiehcgfkceghdgngdgnn.0

Some pages say it is intended for the CDS of 1675 and 1695 CDT models, but others explain that these 2 models are American and that the CD of 1670 and 1690 CDT are Europeans, and then these pages onclude both 4 models for the ACPI update flashing.

I never had problems with the other images flash (which uses Win Image Self Extractor) but this time (the ' * .exe "file is not linked with WinImageSelfExtractor like other flash drives and diskettes of good start that can be found on the internet, that's another thing), I get this message when I try to create the diskette:

"The current image format is not supported by the drive.

I run under WindowsXPHome, MS95 or 98 compatibility mode (if I'm not so, the ' * .exe ' file complains "Please do not run this utility on Windows 2000 environment".)

Early in the process, the disk has to be a "Formatted 2HD floppy Virgin ', 'empty' means a disk 'gross', as linux"rawwrite"utility performs?

I tried to run the ' * .exe "file under DOS, with a Win98SE boot disk, but" cannot be performed in the back".

The fact that the ' * .exe ' file was created with a too old version of WinImage is perhaps the reason why.
Perhaps this file is intended to be run under a 'real' Windows 98.

I did find a lot of information on this topic on the internet.

At the time, I try to make my disk known as "raw" as possible with the various public services.

Have you ever heard this disk problem?

I guess I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem, so if a nice person by the technical staff of Toshiba might help (method for the deals work, copy to convert the initial ' * .exe "file, or creating a new file pre-tested, using the same WinImageSelfExtractor than others), it would be greatly appreciated ;)

  • DDR2 memory Question (550 HP)

I have my laptop HP 550 1 GB module by Hyundai Electronics with an empty slot.  I ordered a Crucial 2 GB module to replace it - BUT I wonder if even if they are different brands of memory - it will be normal to leave module 1 GB in slot #2 as it is now and put the new Module in Slot #1 with no problems.

I had two conflicting opinions elsewhere, some saying he will correct and another saying 'do not' - these TWO guys are quite well experienced with computers. I thought that it is better to come here first to get into the heart of the matter so I don't screw something upward.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this issue. I will probably upgrade my Vista to Windows 7, which is why I need the extra 2 GBs and hoping that I can still use the old module for a total of 3GBs.

    Hello

It should work without any problems.  In General, there may be benefits to buy identical modules (ie the same capacities and manufacturer) If your motherboard supports Dual Channel.

    Best wishes

  • HP Envy x 360: updated HP Notebook System Bios (Intel processor)

I updated my BIOS version before (about a month) but I just found out that the HP Notebook System Bios Update (Intel processor) would have been forgotten. I actually cancelled this update and when I tried to do it again once it does me no more. I contacted the HP Chat Support at that time here and they said that my laptop was very good. I got a blue screen of death once and that's all. It was the only issue I've had with my laptop. After that I have updated to the latest version of the update of the birthday a week ago w10. I don't have any problems with it, my laptop works well. I have not encountered any problems. I just reccently bought this 2 months ago.

Well recently, I got an update in the HP Support Assistant about an update to the Intel 10 series driver. I contacted HP Chat Support and they said that my laptop doesn't have the driver. It was an update General and not directed to any specific PC. Long story short, he said as I have no need, I don't need to update and that my laptop was fine. The Windows 10 anniversary update... Well updates everything that said the tech.

    I was just wondering:

    1. is the HP Notebook System BIOS (Intel processor) update updated CRITICISM that I really need to find a link or something to update?

    2. is it harmful that I have doesn't have the update?

    3. do I really need updating?

    4. is this the reason that the HP Support Assistant advised me on the Intel 10 series driver?

My Version of the Driver is: 20.19.15.4377

I hope that I have provided all the information that might help you to help me solve my problem.

Answer all my answers and also explain are GREATLY appreciated.

I thank very you much in advance!

    @PaulineTan

Thanks for the reply to my post,

And Yes you have covered everything, I hope!

The 10-anniversary of windows update would install all updates driver concerned as well, so the BSOD issue you referred previously.

    (1) Although the update is not important, you can go ahead and install it as at the moment (this is optional).

    (2) Yes, you can, basically, there is nothing to worry about.

    (3) No, it is not critical.

    (4) No, it will not damage your computer.

More updates to the bios contains a fix for the specific issues, published by the manufacturer of the motherboard (bios) and at this point because you don't have any problems on the computer, you don't have to install it.

Let me know, if you need anything else!

    Kind regards.
