  • I think I deleted windows... How can I get it back? Help!?

    I downloaded Ubuntu stupidly just to see what it was... but I think I should have deleted windows vista. When I turn on my computer, it brings me to a screen startup 'grub '. Windows vista is listed, but when I click on it the screen goes black just and he brings me to return. It happened when I upgraded to ubuntu 10 and I guess he resumed the computer or something. and vista.can deleted windows (or hopefully just hidden) to get it back? or at least upgrade to windows 7? can I use the version upgrade instead of the full version? Help, please!

    You need a Vista operating system upgrade within go to Windows 7 (depending on the version).

    Read this instead:

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Permission to delete Windows.old
    Paid upgrade to Windows 8 and moved the files I needed from Windows.old directory already. I would like to remove this free 30 + GB of disk space.
    The first attempt to delete this directory was told that I needed permission from TrustedInstaller. I changed the owner of the directory to myself successfully (so now the error when I try to delete it tells me I need permission of myself - I really hate this "feature" of the file system).
    I already have "Full control" allowed myself to the directory. But when I try to change the permissions for the directory, I get this error:
    "Impossible to enumerate the objects in the container. Access is denied. »
    How can I remove this directory?
  • delete windows.old
    I upgraded Windows 10 on my Jet 7 HP. However, now drive C is dangerously low on space. I tried to delete Windows.old, but many items require authorization of the system to do. I'm the administrator, the file seems to be configured to allow me, administrator and full access to the system, but I can't delete this folder. Y at - it something to remove it?
    Hello:
    Yes, there is.
    Run the disk cleanup utility.
    Once you get to the disk cleanup window, click the button files cleaning system on the lower left side of the window.
    The utility will run again and display the same window, but now you will be able to check the box of files from a previous Installation of Windows (as well as the other boxes to check), and you will then be able to get rid of the Window.old file.
    Note: If you do this, you will not be able to easily return to the previous operating system, so make sure you W10 works right in all respects before you delete the Windows.old folder.
  • I deleted WIndows 8 for the score, but his name appears in the display to dual boot
    I used Windows XP and Windows 8 for some time. I felt that I should remove Windows 8.je went to disk management and has deleted this partition and created a new partition. I also installed a new Windows 7 in this new partition. But the problem is that when I turn on the PC, the dual-boot screen. But it also seems the name of Windows 8 with Windows 7 and earlier version of the window.
    I don't know why the name of Windows 8 is despite him being withdrawn.
    In addition to the information given by Liz above, Windows 8 is not listed in the boot.ini for Xp and Windows 7 does not use a boot.ini file. The best way to solve this problem is to start in Windows 7, then use EasyBCD to modify the boot options delete Windows 8.
  • Could you give me a list of what is safe to delete Windows XP?
    Could you give me a list of what is safe to delete Windows XP?
    This isn't a list of "programs".  This is a list of files and folders which many (more?) are Windows system files that should not be deleted.
    You can Google these names as easily as possible, although some names are completely ambiguous without the rest of the way - for example, _default and configuration could be anything. Panther looks like it is related to your Mac.
    You must uninstall programs ONLY by using the control panel > add / remove software.  Do not delete random files and folders.
    Download and run JDiskReport... and then you can see what's worth worrying in terms of size.
    If your Windows system is running slowly, it is quite possible that you have been infected by malicious software.  What antivirus application on side Windows do you use?  His subscription is up to date? The subscription has already lapsed?
  • Will there be a direct upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 8 final version?
    Migration to Windows XP 8
    Will there be a direct upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 8 final version?  If so, are there details around this yet?
    If by "direct" you mean that you don't have to reinstall your applications, then almost certainly this option will be available.
    If you simply mean "l will be able to use an upgrade rather than a full license" - it's a lot more muddy waters, but I suspect that MS is going to cut the rug under the judicious XP and only allow upgrades from Vista and Win7.
