• Receive no printers installed error when you try to print. There is still printers, and one has been defined as the default value.

  We have seen an increase in the number of calls from customers indicating that when they try to print from Outlook 2007 (Windows XP SP3 + all updates), they receive an error indicating that there is no installed printer.  However, they have not only more than one printer installed, but they also have a default printer set.  Restart the print spooler solves this problem, but it is not clear what caused its all first.  When we stop and possibly restart the spooler, we notice that for a while, it crashes when stop and the following appears in the event viewer:

  Related to this, last week we received a number of calls from users telling us their machines suspended once during the logon process to enter their credentials.  Even 20 minutes of waiting does not solve the problem and restart the machine took care of her.  We have a long login script so I added the lines that surround and inside the different functions, calls, WMI queries etc. within a specified period that he might be the cause of the problem.  Turns, when the script got to the point where he enumerated the list printers, he hung the machine.  (The code below at the bottom.)  Once this comment out code, users were connecting to fine, and the same timeout error preceding appeared in the login script.  What gives!

  Sounds to me as we have a problem of possible spooler, but outside the removal & time printers and their drivers, I'm not sure where to look, or why it affects only a small percentage of our population and more importantly again, suddenly.  I'm open to suggestions.

• When I open "Devices and printers" and click on a printer, there is no button at the top called 'manage default printers '.

• Allow users to set the default printer

  What we have is a non-persistent VDI with view Horizon 6.2 Enterprise solution and EMU and printers mapped by group. There will be hundreds of printers mapped by Group (1 to 1 mapping) and users can belong to several groups and receive maybe five or six printers. What we want is for users final to decide which of these printers they would like as a default value, the value it and for that be reminded on subsequent connections. This is a standard requirement in normal roaming or local profile scenarios, but it does not work in our environment, yes I know we could define a default within EMU, but that is not very useful as some users want different printers as a default value, depending on where they sit, so it would be an impossible administrative burden. If we just let them do it themselves, it is easy for all parties involved.

  
  

  What is happening at the moment, it is that the printer that is further up in the list (I guess that first mapped) is mapped by default every time. I tried various options, like delete to cancel the closure of session (I really thought that would fix it), but it made no difference.

  I reached out to a VMware self on that and they gave me a fairly simple resolution to this. In customization > Windows settings > create a Config file > user a common Windows setting > printers - only mapped network drivers.

  Then, then, give it a name, work done - it works.

  I have it! It's the topic: config "hiddenoneoffs" where the 3 elements of google, maps and mcafee have been included. There was no space between Google and maps. I put one in from Google Maps. • How can I make a printer the default printer?

  I have several printers, but I want my b & w laser printer is the default, especially for sites that does not give me an impression box with options. Currently, some sites send data to my bubble jet all-in-one, a printer, I'd rather NOT use.

  I had the same problem, with the return to an all in one printer that I use rarely, ignoring the Firefox default laser printer. I cured it by removing the all-in-one and printing from Firefox. The next time I rebooted, Windows "found new hardware", but Firefox remembered the laser as a default printer.

  I see you have some problems with the definition of default values on your PC of Windows 10 when printing to your Officejet 6700 Premium e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

  To clear all default settings:

  1. If the printer is connected via USB cable to your PC, delete.
  2. In your search type in printers bar and open devices and printers.
  3. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
  4. Click on remove the instrument.
  5. Repeat for all other icons of your printer listed.
  6. If you removed the USB cable, connect. If this is not the case, click on add printer and follow the prompts to add a print to your printer queue.

  Excellent response. I had to go in the back door of printers & devices because settings printers & devices can only set as default or remove devices. typing "printer" in the search of this screen window took me to the printers & peripherals where preferences can be set.
