  Hey everybody,

  I'm sure Captivate based on the readings of the forums, but I thought I'd ask.

  Can I create a mask with a transparent visor in Captivate?  I would like a text box to display in the center of my step just like the animation flash below:

  BTW - I just thought of a way to layers of "mask" in Captivate.  This isn't really masking, but cut an image into several parts and saw the new image should rule out behind a slice of the existing image.

  1. create a slide with an image.

  2. when the user clicks on a part of the image, direct the user to another slide.  It has the same picture, but it is cut into layers.  The new image move back 1/2 of the picture in front of the other 1/2 of the picture.  It would make it look like he wears a transparent mask, but it's really just browsing a 'slot' in the middle of the image.

  It is difficult to explain without Visual effects.  If I decide to use Captivate in this project, I'll post my work and some screenshots of the process.

  OK, you use the same technique: put the circle on top of the layer you want to
  to view, fill it white, select both, modify > mask > Group as mask. You
  should now see the layer as a circle. Now, perform your square and put the
  circle above it.

  Alternatively, you could make your place, make a circle above it, select
  both, then modify > combine paths > Punch, that will give you the square with a
  hole in it - put this on top of the layer you want to see.

  A matte always uses the layer just above. I guess your "5 solid white" is the hidden layer you want to use as a matte.   You use an image editing program to edit video. Seriously, using Premiere Pro or any other appropriate edit tool, if the sound is essential and you work with the video too long. PS all is intended to do is to change clips DSLR, nothing more. Yes, it's some sort of bug / limitation - you are simply out of memory somewhere.

  The only way you can keep the conversion raster vector is to save in Photoshop PDF format. Make sure you save without flattening and choose the option to keep the layers. Your only other option is to use Illustrator for the text and put the photoshop content in Illustrator.

  I recently reinstalled my laptop (64-bit) Windows 7 Pro. It has all the necessary Windows updates.

  I installed Photoshop CS6 (64 and 32-bit) and I've installed all the updates it needs.

  It will not open any JPG or RAW, .tif, .jpg, .dng and .cr2 files. Before you reinstall Windows Photoshop worked well.

  When I try to open an image file that Photoshop does not open, so the file type is associated with Photoshop, but that's all. The software is running, but it won't open the jpg or tif, and it does not open Camera Raw to display the RAW file.

  If I double-click on a new image, then a new instance of Photoshop is open, in addition to the already open instance, but still no picture.

  If I click file-open and navigate to the file it will then open in Photoshop and Camera Raw 9.1.1 and the picture shows successfully.

  I "solved" this problem!

  It seems that Photoshop won't open these files from a Windows 7 'Library' that points to a redirected folder.

  However, if I create a mapped drive with a drive letter local, the actual path of the files, (for example \\Server\FolderRedirections\Michael\Pictures), then it works OK.

  It is a good work-round and it makes no difference to me if I use a mapped drive or library I put just one correct, in the section 'Favorites' from Windows Explorer.

  Beyond the information provided by Steve Werner...

  It is true that Photoshop cannot save an image on two levels (i.e. single bit monochrome) TIFF CCITT Group 4 compresses (or group 3-compresses).

  However, Acrobat Pro can save PDF as CCITT Group 4 compressed TIFF Group 3

  And I confirm that InDesign cannot place a CCITT Group 4 or group-3 compressed TIFF image.

  Ironically, Photoshop can open TIFF CCITT Group 4 compressed files but when simply save even saves TIFF compressed into ZIP files.

  So, the quickest way for the placement of your CCITT Group 4 TIFF files compressed in InDesign is to simply open and resave the TIFF files in Photoshop.

  Yes, a hack villain, but it allows you to work around this limitation.

  And make sure you have the plugin WhiteWindowWorkaround installed in CS6 (no not necessary in 2014 CC) to work around some of the well-known MacOS issues.
