Masking procedure?

I want to add a static object to some existing footage. The object will not move in the scene, but you will need to cast a shadow on the ground plane. The unit or moving the focal point in each clip. I'm a PShop pro Retoucher, but a noob PP. In my view, there are decision-making tools in PP, but I'm used to creating elements of the layer in PShop. Can I hide an object in PShop, add a layer of shadow cast on a transparent BG, export it as a video, and import into PP? Or the transparent sections of the elements PShop would become opaque white?

If the above is NOT possible, if I could make the overlay using vector masking tools PP? (there is a lesson on the masking of Lynda.com, but the pen tool on PP seems less accurate in the lesson than PShop, and there is no info on the shadow of the object coming to overlap)

The ability to add the object will save me from having to remove the entire scene.

Thank you!

Yes, just make the image with the shadow you want on a transparent background. Save as PNG file, enter the body and you should be good to go.

You can export a substantive reference of the video image, take this framework in PS and put it on the bottom layer. Build the item that you add with the drop shadow on a layer above the layer frame of reference, then just to turn off the layer frame of reference and put in PNG.

  • Follow-up and masking procedures?

    Thank you for taking the time to help out. I'm trying to hide a person moving in and out of the frame.

    1) 3 minutes in the view, a person who needs to be hidden.

    (2) I select the elliptical mask and start tracking. (All good)

    (3) moves out of the frame for several minutes. Stopped tracking and I move the mask outside the video screen (?)

    (4) a person reappears and I move the mask in place and start indexing again and repeat the process. so far so good (I think)

    After completing the edition I export video. When viewing the video, a pixelated mask appears in the first frame of the video dead Center (aghhhh!), 3 minutes before someone needs to be hidden.

    Obviously, I'm doing something wrong.

  • Condition of ODA on certain RDM LUN

    My colleague has moved some virtual machines off the coast of our 4.0, new versions of vmware ESX hosts. These VMS had RDM on the hosts. The RDM LUNS were registered hosts, without using the LUN masking procedures. This leaves the RDM LUN in ODA / all the paths to the bottom of the State. There's no issues yet, but I am aware that ODA can cause hosts to have problems with the service pass., disconnect such as vmware, VMs lock etc.  I was wondering the best way to fix this. I am aware that reboot the host can fix it. My question is, are at - it another way to remove the RDM LUN, who are now in a State of ODA?

    I guess you ask about cleaning right after that LUN is "registered" host on fabric or on the table.

    Restart the host should certainly clean it.

    If you can't restart then check this post of Cormac Hogan: best practices: how to properly remove a unit number logic of a host ESX - VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs

    It should give you an idea and some tips on how to clean it properly.

  • Simple function/procedure in the data mask

    Hello
    Y at - it a simple method to hide the data.

    I have data stored in the tables of my base. I need to create a flatfile and send these data to the other Dept. But there are some important data like credit card, first name and last name must be masked when sending outbound flat file.

    What I use dbms_crypto for this or other simple methods are there for a time hiding?
    If I use dbms_crypto and if I have a column x varchar2 (100), will I get similarly data length varchar2 (100) after masking?

    Thank you

  • Default subnet mask

    Now I can easily connect USRPs to my PC. But I wonder if I move the USRPs into another room and assign a static Ip address in the pool of the Ministry of the IPs, I can still communicate with them via Ethernet?
    It depends on the device's default subnet mask. Right now, I guess it's 255.255.x.x. But if I assign them an IP address from the pool of my Department of IP addresses, then the address/subnet mask should also be updated. Is this possible?

    Hello cindy,.

    The simple answer to your question is Yes, you can connect to your USRP via Ethernet.  There is more information about this procedure in the Manual of the product for each device.  Take a look at page 6.  The default subnet can be different depending on your device, but the value by defect OR 29erxx series devices to 255.255.255.0.  "" "You can change the IP address of the device using the USRP Configuration Utility, available at the beginning" all programs "National Instruments" NOR-USRP ' Configuration of NOR-USRP

    Utility.  You will first need to connect directly to the device, apply to an IP address that is on the same subnet as your host computer, and then deploy the unit where you need it.

    I don't think there is a way to manually change the subnet and the gateway.  You must use the machine on the same subnet as your host, and the default gateway will be automatically assigned.

    Also, I wanted to point out that, in my experience, connect to a USRP device through a network can affect performance.  The latency introduced by the Ethernet communication decreases the throughput and responsiveness of the device, so depending on your use case, I would not recommend for Ethernet connections unless you have no other options.

    Passage of a parameter is the recommended approach. Including a default value will ensure that programs are backward compatible with existing code that does not it:

    create or replace PROCEDURE AFFICHAGE_PLUVIO_VEILLE (p_rainfall_date in date default null) AS

    create or replace function "CALC_PLUVIO" (station in NUMBER, p_rainfall_date in date default null)
    return number is
      cumul number default 0;
      rainfall_date date;
    BEGIN
      rainfall_date := trunc(coalesce(p_rainfall_date, sysdate-1));

    (SELECT DATE1 RAINFALLDATE, VALEUR VALUE
    FROM    EVV_STPL
    WHERE  CLEF_VAR = station
    AND        TRUNC (DATE1) = calc_pluvio.rainfall_date)

    RETURN CUMUL;
    EXCEPTION
        WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
            CUMUL := 0;
        RETURN CUMUL;
    END;

    This code can be called APEX by:

    AFFICHAGE_PLUVIO_VEILLE(p_rainfall_date => to_date(:p1_date, 'DD-MON-YYYY')); -- change format mask to that used in the P1_DATE item

    Moreover, if the P1_DATE element is the only possible source of another value on the date of the rain, then the value can be referenced directly in the function:

    create or replace function "CALC_PLUVIO" (station in NUMBER)
    return number is
      cumul number default 0;
      rainfall_date date;
    BEGIN
      rainfall_date := trunc(coalesce(v('P1_DATE'), sysdate-1));

  • Layer masks and blending modes

    I read on the layer blending modes in Photoshop CS6: The Missing Manual, p.121.  They talk about setting exposure using the blending modes, and they show how to darken an image by using the following procedure.  (1) activate a layer, (2) create a mask of levels, (3) the blending mode of the layer to multiply the value.

    My impression is that blending modes change how the pixels on one level interact with the pixels on the next lower level; that is, it implies there are at least two layers of the image.  So I'm not surprised that if I have a single layer without a mask and I change the blending mode from normal to multiply, it is without effect, probably because there is no immediately lower level to allow interaction.  However, if I have a single layer and create a layer mask, then changing the blending mode from normal to multiply darken the image.  That must involve the pixels of the layer are interacting with transparent pixels on the mask.  What?

    Can someone explain what is happening in reality not here?

    Use layer blending modes, you need to the two layers less.

    As you mentioned above:

    '(1) activate a layer, (2) create a mask of levels, (3) the blending mode of the layer to multiply the value'

    step 2 means create a levels adjustment layer that comes with a default mask if you want to make local adjustments.

    in this case, if you have a layer and add an adjustment layer, it works as if you duplicate the layer.

  • Select and mask

    I tried to change the color of the floor, so I tried "select and mask ' to highlight only the word, I wanted to work on... and then I got lost!... can someone tell me the procedure how to change the color of something after using select and mask?

    Any help would be great.

    When you are finished with the selection just click on the OK button in the properties panel on the right side of your screen. Selection will be loaded and you can create new settings such as Hue/Saturation layer using the selection for the adjustment layer mask.

  • Several masks and reversed

    I added a mask and it reversed and want to get the same effect on several masks, but when I put all others to just subtract makes black instead of use the effect. What should I do?

    Screenshot for reference:

    No need for an adjustment layer. The screenshot is not very clear, but you applied hue and then seven masks but only mask 1 is selected in the effect of the composition.

    Here's how to do it correctly. Draw your seven masks. The mode of addition for masks will give you seven circles. Change the mode to subtract and you will have seven holes in your layer. Now apply the tint effect and her centrifuge Compositing options and tap the + 7 times for all seven masks as composition of the layer options. EZ, quick and for this purpose better than an adjustment of the layer.

    When you have problems with an effect or a procedure the first thing you can do is to select the layer and press the U key twice to reveal all updated the layer properties. If the solution is not obvious, and then type the name or the effect, or the procedure you use in the field search for help in the upper right of the AE and discover the resources of the community. You will find generally better training than if you just start poking around Google or YouTube. You have your trainers to sift through and make sure that they know enough for you point to the effective techniques and good workflow. About half of the training on YouTube isn't very good and there are a bunch of it that will teach you bad habits and terrible workflows.

    Just in case where you're not the explanation here is what should be your model.

  • Add a layer mask

    Hello

    I came across this thread in the forum of items https://forums.adobe.com/thread/798304 and had the same question for the CC PS (I don't have the elements to see if this suggestion works there). I tried to add a selection to the layer mask to my pressing Shift/Ctrl and clicking on the thumbnail of the mask, but it does not work (the result has been to deselect the new selection and simply load the mask selection). Other/different way could there be to do?

    Thank you

    -David

    What operating system do you use?

    The same procedure, spoken in the post that you linked to should also work in photoshop cc

    But it probably really can't load the existing layer mask selection.

    After that you have the choice, you want to add to the layer mask, simply target the layer mask (click on the thumbnail of the layer mask to make it active), and then fill the selection with black or white.

  • Can anyone help to lose the gray-brownish remains of the process refine mask edge

    Hello

    First post here. I tried to learn the tool "Refine edge mask" and have had some success. I can brush the bottom, but when the algorithm ends the procedure (if I click 'OK'), I find myself with a slight grey or brownish tint around the perimeter of the image. I've attached an example below. If I drop the contrasting background, such as a blue sky, it looks very good indeed until you start to see the light grey around his hair. I can rub it using the eraser, but here where it counts, in detail, I would always rubbing his hair as well. If I do that, it starts to look bad enough quickly. Can anyone offer some words of wisdom? SP6, not extended on Windows 8, but it happened on an Airbook as well (which means I'm the problem, I think)

    Thanks for reading

    Hiya, that's not really a topic for beginners and you'd probably get a better answer in the forums main photoshop.

    Masking hair is one of the most difficult thing to do in Photoshop. The dilemma is that you need transparency for the hair to look natural, but that results in a gray halo around the curls models. A good way to approach this problem is to work on the mask itself is not not the image. You will find that if you paint on the mask with a soft brush to a low opacity in overlay brush mode (not layer) with a default black color, it darkens the gray until it gets closer in black, all while not affecting only not the box white mask - so you don't need to be prudent-memory white reveals black cache - on your image where there currently gray you will see the background. We 4 hours on Ribbon of hair tutorials, but I hope it helps a bit.

  • Gum changing from white to black on the layer mask, leaving the image transparent.

    I used the following method in CS5 to erase parts of a layer/bring these pieces back again if necessary. It works in the same way after that I upgraded to CS6 (not sure if the version difference plays a role or not.)

    What I'm doing here is blend two layers that overlap in one of the other

    1. create the layer to the top layer mask

    2. Select pure white in the color selection window

    3 select the Eraser tool, set the opacity to 30%, 50%, flow 100% hardness

    4. Select hide, erasing the edges of the image where there is overlap to eliminate hard edges and merge the images into another

    5. when I need to highlight an area of the image at the top (one mixed), I pass the color pure black opacity set to 100%, hardness 100% and paint over the areas that I want to "undo" my deletion.

    -Sometimes happens a lot after my initial deletion, so a simple cancellation or who goes back in history is not a possible solution at this moment here.

    -Another note: I have to move over the other layers to align as much as possible, make the story do not brush useful in this case.

    Previously, this would simply restore the image to where it was originally for this place, by removing completely all masking. Now, when I do this procedure, the area that I'm trying to "undo" is however, as if the opacity is set to a level lower than 100%. This poses problems because I want to have the completely opaque image at this stage.

    Some other notes I hope to answer some questions that may arise in advance:

    I haven't settled the opacity of one of my layer masks

    I tried to do the same operation by using the Brush tool (with 100% opacity and hardness, using the opposite colors), with the same result

    As we have earlier I don't know another effective way to achieve the same goal. I'd be happy to do it differently but if necessary.

    All the layers in these documents are dynamic objects

    Thank you!

    I'm sorry it's so confusing. I guess the only reason why I use the Eraser tool is a vestige of when I was actually erase the image - and also I get the brush and Eraser different opacity value to quickly switch between them.

    @Theresa actually, I didn't watch only the mask. Of course the mask was gray in the areas that I was talking about. But that lead me to realize that while the color picker looked purely black and white, I was working with a grayscale image, and it was in fact color and converted to looked at pure Grayscale black and white. I need to set the color of the brush at a certain point, when working in RGB (which I rarely do) and not realised.

    Sorry for posting something with such a trivial response, but you all help me to understand thank you!

  • How to make a vector shape / layer in a mask without pixelation it?

    Watching Nigel French on Lynda.com transform a form (using the custom shape tool) in a mask, but following the same exact procedure he does not work for me:

    Select a new layer, press U, select Custom Shapes, has chosen to target record, size and release.

    Voila! In the video, he gets a layer mask on this new layer. I just get a new layer - and it's driving me crazy. He goes on to pen the layer to soften the edges, which, if it is possible, can be useful.

    I tried half a dozen variations such as drag and drop, creating a new layer from a solid fill color and me cannot work out how to make the shape in a mask. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I'm guessing that there is a setting I'm missing somewhere, maybe?

    just to be clear, I know that I can put a mask on my vector form by clicking on the icon of the mask or of the layer > vector mask > current path, but this is not what I'm asking. I want to know how to make the shape I paint in a mask on a layer, we layer (as in the right of it).

    If you can see, the video is here at the minute mark 7: create a logo with some shape layers in the Photoshop course for designers: shape layers

    The transcript over this article reads

    I want to fill the shape with white. So I'll do my foreground color white and press the Option or Alt + Delete as follows, and I also want to then adjust the opacity. I'll take the opacity down and here's something I want to do. I would like to pen, so that make us it sweet. Now, you may be thinking, wait a minute, all these layers of shape are vectors, how can they be feathered? Surely, they cannot be softened. Well, actually, they can.

    If we go to the masks Panel, I can simply increase the amount of feathering and you can see as I do he soft all edges in this path. Now another problem I have is that the inside of this shape of the target is displayed in the center of the bagel and we do not want that to happen. So I could spend time trying to position it just so, so that we don't see. But easier than that I'll just double-click my masks to make it smaller.

    Without having read what you have written here, I just Ctrl + click on the content icon in the palette shape layer layers to select the transparency of the layer.  This selection allows you to hide a layer in the layer to hide targetint then click on the Add layer mask in the layers palette.  The current selection will be used to create the layer mask.

  • With the help of Mocha in After Effects to make masks for the classification in Speedgrade

    I just discovered that there is a plugin that comes with AfterEffects CC called "Mocha", it's a track quite powerful tool of creation. And... it can be used to create masks which SpeedGrade can then rank, even masks of caterpillars that currently Sg may be uneven with.

    If I understand correctly the basic procedure is to create an adjustment in PrPro layer, then create a new computer with one more in Ae, create and apply a Mocha "form", including any order tracking, then going back to PrPro and through her link Direct to the Sg, and then we can rank a mask of sections of key that will work as expected. Well, of course, it's a... little more complicated than that. You cannot use the freebie Mocha plugin, you must buy the stand-alone for $95 or more, then use it to make a shape... and learn how to use this program as well. So... some extra expenses, some additional necessary training, but... then we can get the caterpillars & complex masks which can be classified in Sg.
