McAfee Security Scan more! ??

McAfee Security Scan Plus is automatically downloaded and installed via "Adobe Download Manager", when I update the Plugin of Firefox Acrobat! I didn't even ask if I wanted to install it! IT IS TOTALLY LAME ADOBE! I can no longer trust downloads and installations of Adobe. Is no longer a 'reliable Source '!

http://get.Adobe.com/reader/ Just went there, and this time, I noticed the inclusion of McAfee, ALREADY CHECKED and also good box hidden far enough towards the top-right of the download button to be away from the fovea. I think it is fair to assume that Adobe has some expertise in user interface design, in which case this position indicates Adobe of the INTENTION of the user to miss this detail.

  • McAfee Security Scan more and Trend Micro Security Conflict?

I have Trend Micro security on my windows vista PC Dell.  A few months ago, I noticed that I also have McAfee Security Scan Plus wants to periodically scan my PC.  I didn't ask to install McAfee security Scan Plus, so I don't know where it comes from.  I wonder if it is not authentic, as well as the way in which it on my PC.  Do I have to get rid of him, and if yes, how do I do that?

Sometimes the PC manufactures such as Dell will put a free demo of product antivirus PC or laptop that sell them. These anti-virus would expire after the trial and you could buy it or uninstall it.

If you have Trend Micro, you could go into Control Panel, add/remove programs and uninstall McAfee.

  • Do I need McAfee Security Scan with Firefox?

Do I need to use the security program McAfee with Firefox?
I just bought a new computer, and these are security programs installed. The default seems to be Firefox & I have to re-register in June for McAfee.

Firefox is just a browser, you still need an anti-virus program and a firewall.

There is no need to pay for them, there are some free alternatives. I use the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • Bug from Microsoft which blocks the installation of McAfee Security Suite

Verizon and McAfee tec support worked with a problem on my pc, it just got a new hard drive and a new installation of XP installed, not to mention the 200 updates, including service packs 1,2,3. I never had no problems installing or running the McAfee products until 17 days ago. Between myself, McAfee and Verizon tec support, McAfee Security Suite has been reloaded 48 times. During each load, not an error or warning appears, the hard drive acts like it is written for and downloads are all successful, when you close the installation following the instructions once the installation completes, it not there no trace of McAfee on the hard drive accept for some temporary files and some registry entries.

After the last attempt to McAfee to install a new problem exists, during the verification of your license and your password, bothe the name and the password are incorrect. I have 2 other PC running XP both have Security Suite installed on them and they would be well if the bug was introduced as reciently like 2 months ago, some first encrypted in Microsoft updates, I discovered that more then a thousand other people have this problem.

We used highly som software sofisicated of security registry and found no bugs, we used as several other safety analysis software on this pc and found nothing so it's new and directly to McAfee as other security software, for example. Norton, work very well. I would suggest to Microsoft to go threw your online updates and find a worm attached to one or more updates that activates this question. I have went up to now download the setup of each update of Microsoft and ran an individual scan on each update but nothing has been found that is why I really think it's the combination code through a number of updates that creates this bug and bring it to life.

Only Microsoft has all the updates with the original code, they must go threw each update and find the configurations added / changed on their updates to resolve this problem, I would muself, but I'm not entittled to access the database of Microsoft where the original code was stored and compare it to the code distributed by Microsof'ts 'SECURE UPDATE DATABASE ".

DOES ANYONE HAVE A LIST OF A LINK THAT HAS MICROSOFT WHO CAN RUN A SCAN ON THEIR SOFTWARE FOR ERRORS LIKE NO OTHER SECURITY SOFTWARE DETECTS MICROSOF'TS UPDATES THAT ARE CURRENTLY ON THE WEB NEXT TO THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE SAVED ILS?

You could try to scan your system for Malware to see if this is the cause.

Malware to disable your firewall and your safety programs.

Scan of Malware in Safe Mode with network.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

I have McAfee Virus Scan installed on my Windows 7 system.  Should I also turn on Windows Defender?

Yes. In addition to an anti-virus program, you must also at least one
anti-spyware (two or three is even better) program. Windows Defender is
    an anti-spyware program.

    But keep in mind:

I think McAfee is one of the two worst anti-virus programs on the
market (Norton is this one). I recommend that you run eSET NOD32
If you are willing to pay for anti-virus software, or one of the
the following three if you want for free anti-virus software:

    Avira
    Avast
    Microsoft Security Essentials

For anti-spyware, I recommend running all three of the following:

    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SuperAntiSpyware
    Windows Defender.
