McAfee Site Advisor crashes FF

I am running FF and McAfee Site Advisor Security Suite V3.6.23 and since about 6 weeks ago I get, probably, 10 accidents per day when I do Google or Yahoo search. I contacted McAfee, 4 times, and they always say that its works OK. I read all the blogs on SA crashing 5 + FF, but not in FF 3.6.23. I uninstalled and reinstalled SA twice without any change. McAfee said that there is a problem with FF. It's maddening. I love SA and FF, but it reminds mew to return to IE-Ugh! Anyone out there have any suggestions?

This Site Advisor is known to cause problems with Firefox, even since before McAfee bought this program by the original developer.

Turn it off, because it really only duplicates the features that are already built into Firefox. The main difference between SA and the features of Firefox, is that HIS 'flags' infamous sites hypertext links, where Firefox keeps loading these pages and gives you the alert after clicking on a hypertext link. A minor difference to the aggravation this add-on provides. You still have protection from the websites listed.

    Here's the answer:

I just got the phone with McAfee Technical Support is turned off and since a few minutes ago, McAfee Site Advisor is NOT supported on newer versions of Firefox, IE or Google Chrome!

I was told that if I wanted Site Advisor to work I needed to go back and reinstall and use an older version for each browser.

I just got a call from McAfee Site Advisor monitoring works now with Firefox & Google Chrome, and not in IE... that doesn't matter to me because I use NEVER IE!

  • just downloaded firefox 8 and disabled mcafee site Advisor how to get back to version 7

just downloaded firefox 8 and it disabled the Advisor site on my mcafee security suite. How to get back to version 7 until the site Advisor is compatible with version 8?

Although I gave up on it for now, if you don't have a lot of extension, you can run it in Version 8, actually if you ran it 7, you're probably doing something else that activate. As their website says you a version number you suggest to reinstall and restart Firefox twice, see

I have reactivated it as I had turned it off and it works, guess I'll try it for a few days now that I'm on 8.0. While the difference between what I ran on 7.0.1 this is I have reactivated earlier "McAfee Site Advisor" but then the main reason that I have no problems is that I avoid bad extensions.

I see that it is not marked as compatible with 8.0 but many of my extensions are not anyway. I have

    extensions.checkCompatibility.8.0 set to false

and my McAfee Site Advisor is 3.4.0

The extensions that I use are listed hereand I actually have links with the compatibility reports it for each extension, but were not check things there for several months.

  • McAfee Site Advisor does not work with Firefox 6.0.1

Different Firefox users have reported not being able to use McAfee Site Advisor with different versions of Firefox. I have the version update of Firefox (6.0.1) and have been able to use the Site Advisor until September 3, when I renewed my subscription to McAfee Internet Security, which includes the Site Advisor. Now Site Advisor no longer works with my Firefox browser.
McAfee says that Site Advisor does not work with the "Beta version" of Firefox, but I'm not using the beta version. When I informed them of this, their response is, indeed, "Is not our problem."

    Any suggestions?

What version of Site Advisor do you use?

Not much more to add. Version 4 of FF worked fine with McAfee Site Advisor direct. I have the software McAfee total protection on my PC - as it turns out be the most reliable for you - so I trust in the Site Advisor - and would like to have this application available when you are using FF.

  • Why can't I uninstall McAfee Site Advisor from my computer?

I followed the steps to uninstall, but the program is still on my computer.  He came with, and upgrade to my Adobe Flash Player, will I also need to uninstall the Flash Player?

    Thank you.

    Hi Ladyjojo,

You shouldn't have to do something with Flash Player - both programs are not bound together like that.  Flash Player needs to be very well.

Try to use the McAffee removal tool: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 through this link. It is not uncommon that products McAffee do not uninstall correctly or completely, and this tool is often the case.

If this does not work and it is always on your system, download and install Revo Uninstaller: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. Use the Advanced mode if Mcafee Site Advisor is on the list and who should do the trick.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hello

I just moved to Windows7. I opted for the Microsoft Security Essentials [free Version] as my Anti virus.

In my browser, IE 8, I'm so used to the hot air balloon of MacAfee Site Advisor on the top left corner of the screen. Site Advisor had no confilict with my then Avast free Anti virus.

Anyone know if I'm good download Site advisor to McAfee Windows 7? If anyone knows of any known confilicts reported on windows 7?

    Concerning

    Hi snowshine:

I have not seen all the reports of problems with the Site advisor on windows 7, and I doubt that you will experience more, certainly nothing serious. I would go ahead and install it, remember to first create a system restore point.

  • For the last 24 hours, whenever I try to access the Forums from McAfee site, get message, "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

I was an active member of this forum for more than a year and was just on the site yesterday.  Yet, for some reason, today, I can not access the site.  I tried clicking on a search link, manually type in the name of the site... nothing works.  All I ever get is the message "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage";  no error codes... no nothing!

I have no trouble access to other sites with the exception of the McAfee site.  I know that the site is running.

UPDATE: for some strange reason, now all of a sudden I can again access McAfee Forum site this morning.  Still have no idea what happened here, but at least that the problem is now solved... I hope!

Thnks a lot for your time!

    Hello

I am happy to know that your problem is solved. In case, if you need help, you can always post your questions as well as your valuable suggestions in this forum.

    I tried the following-
    refreshed Firefox
    uninstalled/reinstalled firefox
    safe mode
removed the malwarebytes program due to work for someone else
has ran my spyware, zero results returned

Chrome works very well. Everything else is fine. Firefox had no problem until it auto update last night. I can't submit a crash report because every time he asks me I say Yes and then he tells me 'problem presentation report '.

This looks like a problem with the NVIDIA Network Access Manager.

There is a version of Firefox 43.0.2 planned to block this NVIDIA driver, you can try to install through this site:

Otherwise, you can check the control panel so you can find "NVIDIA Network Access Manager" or "NVIDIA ForceWare Network Manager" and uninstall this software.

  • Gow I stop Firefox from opening a Web site that crashed or stop it when I restart?

Sometimes a Web site is not responding, I close firefox manually, usually a c; tab dare on my windows pc. When I restart firefox, it goes back to this site, rather than 'well, it's embarrassing...'. y at - it a way to stop this. When I close my firefos, I have it set to clear the history. You helpr oe can shed some light?
    Thank you.

Firefox will automatically try to restore the tabs and windows from last session if an accident occurred or Firefox does not close properly the last time.
If the session blocks once, then you will get the page "well, it's embarrassing" (topic: sessionrestore) the next time you start Firefox.
You can set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the subject: config page in order to get the about: sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a collision has occurred or the Task Manager was used for the closing of Firefox.

This way, you see if the previous session is not close properly or it crashed and deselects the tabs that you do not want to reopen, but will reopen the other tabs.
If you cannot start Firefox, then you can add this line to the file prefs.js to prevent Firefox to restore the last session automatically.
    user_pref ("browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes", 0);
