MDS 9222i, SANOS 3.2(3a) to 5.0.1(a) upgrade

Hi people.

I have four MDS 9222i 3.2(3a) running.  All four have the same characteristics:

DC-cis9222i-01 # sh module
Status of Module Type mod Ports model

I wish to all the level towards the last SANOS (unless someone has a good reason why I shouldn't).  I'm their management with Fabric Manager 3.3 (5) independent.  I read the Release Notes for Cisco Fabric Manager version 5.0(1a) and Cisco MDS 9000 NX - OS version 5.0(1a) and 3.3 (x) SAN - OS Software Upgrade and Downgrade Guideand find that my hardware is on the list of support for 5.0(1a), so I think I'm ready.

Unless I misread it, I upgraded to 3.3.5 to 4.2.5 FM in a step, then upgrade 4.2.5 to 5.0.1 in a second time.  I think I get it.

What I'm confused about is, what are the firmware versions and kickstart on the MDS I go through each version of FM?  Each 9222i runs 3.2.3. now and the guide says upgrade each switch can do an update without interruption of 3.2.3 3.3.5 then 4.2.5 and finally to 5.0.1.

My upgrade steps will resemble the following:

(1) upgrade the switches with m9200-s2ek9-kickstart - mz.3.3.5.bin and m92000-s2ke9 - mz.3.3.5.bin

2) upgrade FM 3.3.5 to 4.2.5 Once orders are in 3.3.5

(3) upgrade switches with m9200-s2ek9-kickstart - mz.4.2.5.bin and m92000-s2ke9 - mz.4.2.5.bin

(4) upgrade FM 4.2.5 to 5.0.1

(5) upgrade switches with m9200-s2ek9-kickstart - mz.5.0.1 a .bin and m92000-s2ke9 - mz.5.0.1 a .bin

I don't think I have all additional services/features enabled on the switches.  I use FCIP, but no FICON, SANTap, SME or DMM.

Thank you!

I asked them that we will have to do the same. I was told that 3.3.5 was the oldest version, they tested with 5.0.1 and IVR that we use a little but is the SAN - OS versions.  I think you can lag your SAN - OS with FM i.e. 5.0.1(a) will handle older versions, but... you probably don't want too long tary.  Are you run independent FM or you use a license server and do all the fabric of surveillance and collection?  We will be 5.0.1(a) running with 3.3.5 for a little while until we have Exchange former edge switches for 9148 that run only 5.x and to manage them we have to have FM 5.x server a well.

    Hi all

I tried to connect the FI FC port to the Nexus 5 K. YEW has been configured in host end (VAN) mode, while the N5K has been configured as NPIV switch (NPV core).

After trying many things, the SAN PortChannel link on both FI and N5K cannot grew up, stuck in the initializing state.

If the N5K and FI was not grouped in PortChannel, connection set successfully.

In addition, I found and who issues the FI when running in NPV mode, the trunk cannot be configured as trunk mode on (if configured, so the connection will get stuck in the initialization of State too).

Attached are the files of configuration on FI and N5K

Also, I tried to connect the FI to MDS 9222I and had the same problems that connect to N5K.

    Can anyone help?

Comparation while I connect the Nexus 5 K as NPV switch and MDS 9211i as mode NPIV, the PortChannel SAN and circuits (N5K as TNP) and MDS TF was successfully raise.

    Thank you

    Gofi Hello,

As interface comes from the individual links and N5K running version 5.1 (3) N1 (1), he may run into the following faults

    http://Tools.Cisco.com/support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId= CSCty04686

If so, N5K software must be upgraded to a version that has the fix for this flaw.

  • MDS process

What is the process of mds? Fans of my MBP running quite often so I kept the activity monitor to see what is happening. Flash Player is often the cause - surprise, surprise - but I also noticed that SDM is just as likely to appear as the CPU hog, pointing up in the 1990s for the percentage of CPU for several minutes at a time.

Process of MDS (Metadata Server) is a projector part bones.

  • What is mds

Suddenly, I noticed that my MacBook Pro felt very hot. I open the activity monitor and mds was using 99% of resources. It ran for four hours and then abruptly stopped. The keyboard and the underside of the MacBook Pro are now cooling. I could hear the fan turning, but it is not loud. I had to put my ear to the event to hear it.  The Mac was also very lag while it worked. Security application? I have almost all the browsers on Mac. I use my iPad most of the time, but I was looking for the numberic keyboard bluetooth today online and using Evite.  I installed Flash Player, but it is configured to ask who I said for the most part No.

It indexes the files as part of the built-in Spotlight function.

  • Simulator of MDS and Blackberry 8110

I have a problem with the simulator of MDS and Blackberry 8110.

I just test my application because when I try to connect to the internet using mds - cs, the web browser (or my request) my 8110 Simulator gives me the error "unable to connect to the selected Mobile Data Service, please try again later." ...".

The same application with another Simulator (i.e. Blackberry 8900) works without a problem, and I can surf the web with the built-in web browser.

    I'm running on Windows Seven x 86

    Java 1.6.0 update 20

    BlackBerry JDE 5.0.0

    8110 Simulator is 4.5.0.81.

(I'm sorry for my English )

    Solved!

I used a generic Simulator. Installed by Vodafone one, and now I can surf the web from my blackberry Simulator.

Note: I noticed that with Blackberry 8900 generic Simulator I can surf the internet with the active wi - fi network.

  • Push by MDS Simulator and Win7

    Hi all

I have a new computer with Win7 Professional installed and I had trouble getting the BlackBerry Simulator to recognize the push in my application.  I also have my old WinXP computer that gets the push with my BlackBerry application "under development".  That is, it works on Windows XP but not on Win7.

I use Eclipse Galileo with the BlackBerry plug-in.  Develop with BlackBerry JRE v4.6.0.23 on BlackBerry 9000 Simulator.  The MDS Simulator is installed in C:\BlackBerry Email and simulators of Services SDM 4.1.4 avoid C:\Program Files security restrictions.

Configuration of the Simulator in the 'rimpublic.property' file is to remove the # from the line 'push.application.reliable.ports = 100' at the bottom of the file.  No other changes are made.  The MDS web server started on port 8080 (default).

On the Windows XP computer, I start the MDS Simulator, then I start my Eclipse application and the BlackBerry Simulator starts.  I'll leave my app and open the web browser and launch a Web site (any) and I'll see the work of MDS Simulator.  That is it will be showing the entries in the window back of MDS.  It's what I expect. Then I run my application and send the thrust and everything works fine.

On the Win7 computer, I use the same version of BlackBerry Simulator 4.1.4 the same version of Eclipse and the same version of the BlackBerry Simulator.  When I access a Web site on the BlackBerry, nothing happens in the MDS Simulator Dos window.  I get a web page, but I think something is happening in the MDS Simulator Dos window.

That's where the problem lies, in my opinion, but I'm not sure.  Push sample instructions say to launch Web site on the BlackBerry browser to get the push to work properly.  Is this true or am I wrong interpret this?

Also on the Win7 machine, even if the BlackBerry browser does not have it that I'm waiting on the MDS Simulator, if I push my data in any case, I see the MDS recognizing thrust.

Long story short, my BlackBerry application will not recognize the thrust of my request to push .net on Win7, but works fine on Windows XP.

I've been watching for the last 2 days and have largely done a search, but there is not much info on this type of problem.

Any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated?

Here is some information displayed in the window back Simulator MDS after I send my push.

  • Push notification to groups of BES to MDS

    Hello

Ich have a small question. My Application sends notifications of type push to one or several groups of BES.

This works well as long as the name of the Group has no spaces in the name as 'Test Group'.

I have test it with the following to the URL:

    http://10.40.0.25:8080 / push? DESTINATION = $TEST & PORT = 100 & REQUESTURI = /.
Return value: 505 / HTTP Version not supported

    http://10.40.0.25:8080/push?destination=$test%20Group&port=100&REQUESTURI=/
    Return value: 403 / forbidden

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance

    Benjamin

    Hi Benjamin,

You're targeting 20,000 users in a unique environment? Are all the user managed from a simple LOW?

A Central push server can be set up to reach all users of an MDS instance, but 20 000 growth would cause stress. I suggest that additional tests and see how performance is affected before trying with the full 20,000.

  • MDS simulators - where are you?

    Hello world

I found BB simulators at http://us.blackberry.com/sites/developers/resources/simulators.html

but can't seem to find the MDS Simulator downloads. I did google it and found a download page, but am surprised that it is not bound on the developer site. Am I missing something?

    Alon

Pusher can be tested in Wellington today. If you need the MDS Simulator, it comes with the SDK WebWorks for smartphones:

  • Registration of a client device in a java application with BES/MDS

    Hi all

I put this thread here that my application is a java application, but it could have also listed under the section development push as well.

I have a part of my application that needs to connect to the BES to a certain company to receive push messages. The app works fine establishment of a listener and receiving thrusts by the MDS Simulator, and I also added more code to register the device with the BIS (BPA) from BIS example of Simon Hain.

Initially I thought that the he had to register with the BES, just like how register us with the BIS except change some settings, as do not add an app ID etc. I have created a basic application of the Z10 push and remember that coding is the same for the BIS and BES except that the application ID and address BIS have been left blank. But now, after some research, I think with Blackberry 6/7, to onboard with a BES connection (unless a middleware program requires us to send some data onboarding) to receive a Push message, we just open a connector to the port number using the deviceside = false setting and wait for help to arrive.

I looked on the net and forums to directly answer this question but can't seem to find one, that's why I'm asking here confirm.

Quite simply, taking example of Simon for base, if I plug a client device to a BES (where the server application didn't need any onboarding of the device, its function is to, just send a message to the JSON style to the MDS with the device PIN to the device) would need to register the client with BES/MDS device, as Simon does with its function of registerWithBpas() to register with BIS/BPA , or could I just go directly to opening a connection to a port with the parameter; deviceside = attached false and wait for a Push message to arrive.

Of course the devic has already been saved in the BES with its ID, e-mail address of the person using this device, etc.

Simon if you get a chance to personally respond to it, that would be great!

Thank you all for your time and your help.

    Rob

Do not enter the unit, simply push the spindle for the MDS and push message will appear on the device.  As you rightly point out, the device is already on the BES and must use the MDS to access the internet in any case.

  • Problem to start MDS

    Hello

I have JDK, JDE 4.7, MDS - CS, etc on win Vista.

When I click on MDS - CS (running \MDS\run.bat), I get a message

Can someone tell what can be the problem. I want to start to MDS and access the internet through Simulator.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Thank you all.

The problem was with the file C:\Program (x 86) \... - space in the path.

I moved to a location without any spaces r & things JDK works very well.

  • BBM MDS Simulator problem

I'm developing an application that needs to send something via BBM surveys, so I wanted to try it. The problem is that I can't get the BBM Simulator to run. I followed the instructions found on the Blackberry Messenger page, but when I run run.bat it says the following:

    Error image

(why can I post the image directly?)

-Java SE Development Kit 7 installed: C:\jdk1.7.0\

    -Java JRE installed: C:\jdk1.7.0\jre7\

(Note that there is another folder of jre: C:\jdk1.7.0\jre\) Variable JAVA_HOME points to: C:\jdk1.7.0\

Added "C:\jdk1.7.0\bin\;" to the front of the path variable.
Copied files local_policy.jar and US_export_policy.jar both

    • (1) C:\jdk1.7.0\jre\lib\security; and
    • (2) C:\jdk1.7.0\jre7\lib\security

(I first copied them only in the C:\jdk1.7.0\jre7\lib\security, but it says "have you installed unlimited strength jurisdiction policy files?")

I have downloaded the SDK, extract the contents of "C:\BBM\", mounted in the MDS Simulator and extract the content as well.

    Running Windows 7 64 bit.

    What I'm missing here?

Is the JDK 1.7 32-bit?  I have not tried with 1.7, only 1.6.

  • Connection stuck when connecting over BES/MDS

I have an application called customer MC (later called 'client') who uses a socket connection to communicate with a server, the controller of Mobile (later called "controller").
The connection is used to exchange information of signaling for control of calls, instant messaging and presence information and uses the SIP protocol.
There are two ways how I can connect the Client to the controller:
-Direct TCP (with a configured APN)
    -WIFI
    BES/MDS

While the first two modes operate smooth we are facing problems with the connection on the SDM service method.

The client uses the deviceside = false parameter to initialize the socket via the MDS Server connection.
We did several tracks on the controller and the client and have the impression that the TCP stream is somehow blocked on the BES between the customer and the controller.

Following things that we discover that day:
-The TCP connection negotiation works very quickly. Handshake ACK SYN, SYNACK, is always quick.
-The data channel itself seems to block / latency of data.
Initially the application did not send data in decision-making, that data was sent to the origin of the side front controller. I worked around this by sending a single packet of data to the stream with data fictitious "\r\n" on the controller to the client directly after the establishment of the connection.
In this way a steam machine is usable by the customer immediately, but after two messages flow seems to block again.

I use Windows Server 2007 SP2 64-bit with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Express version and an SDM connection BlackBerry Service: 5.0.1.39

    Description of the scenario:
[13:40:21.737] Client send data first Packet 'REGISTER'
-Package is received the controller and responded with "401 Unauthorized" immediately after 15.8 msec (see trace packet)
    [13:40:25.619] Client receives the '401 Unauthorized '.
-Package comes a little late, but still in time (after 3.8 seconds)
[13:40:26.054] Client sends the REGISTRY with the authorization response
-the second package never reaches the controller, the connection has expired

The Server BES itself seems to be functional, since other applications like e-mail or the SSH of Rove client seem to work well.

-Is it possible to influence the BES server how packages for a socket MDS connection are transferred? Is there a good way to solve the problems on the BES Server?
I look in the newspapers, the more information I can find a connection is opened and closed again.

    Any tips?

I finally found a solution for this.

We have modified the client application to do a function flush() after writing in the stream object.

Looks like there is a mayor unlike the behavior of the object of the steam of a plug.

With direct TCP and WIFI all data are send immediately, whereas with the MDS connection all gots queued for the seconds until a flush() function is made.

So remember: when using the socket via MDS connection allways drain when using the communication of critical data in time.

  • 8320 running Simulator 4.2.2.161 will not connect to the 4.1.4 MDS Simulator

    HI -.

I just installed the 4.2.2.161 Simulator device 8320 and can't seem to connect to the network via the browser.  I run the 4.1.4 MDS Simulator.  I have several other simulators installed, and they can all connect fine when I run it.  When I'm trying to here, it is there for awhil, and then it times out with the message "unable to connect to the selected Mobile Data Service. Please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your administrator. »

I noticed a strange thing is that I do not see the "arrows" flashing at the top right of the screen of the simulated device, and I see no record appears in the MDS Simulator window.

    Please notify.

    Thank you

    Mike

Managed to get the 4.2.2.161 Simulator (8320) working on the PC with MDS 4.1.4.  The only thing I did was shut down, install the 4.2.2.163 Simulator (8310), try it (it worked), and then re-run the 4.2.2.161 Simulator (8320).  It just started working.  (If all goes well, it blocks everything works again.)

It does not always work on another PC with MDS 4.1.0 but I guess it's just a matter of MDS version.
