MDT disable windows updates post end of MDT task sequence

I use MDT update 1 on Windows Server 2012 2012.  I am Imaging computers using the Standard Client task sequence.

Windows Update 'Pre' and 'Post installation of the application' measures are disabled in the Standard Client task sequence, but after that the application package installs complete, update Windows begins to apply the updates in the background.
I also edited the unattend.xml file to set the ProtectYourPC variable to '3 '.
How can I go about changing a setting in the task sequence that will set Windows Update never check the updates even after the image/task sequence ends?

You will have to go on Support of Windows 7 forums on the following link to help solve your problem: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/w7itpro/

  • Software Power Manager Lenovo - MDT task sequence

I work in an environment that made the deployment of the operating system via SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 with MDT 2010 Update 1 integration.  I have a MDT task sequence that deploys my WIM file of Windows 7 captured laptops Lenovo predominantly (98% Lenovo fleet too).  Part of this task sequence uses rules to specifically target drivers and applications to individual models.  I'm having a LOT of trouble getting Lenono Power Manager (V3.31) software to install as part of the task sequence.

The summary of the story is this:

    • Lenovo Bluetooth software installs OK (msiexec /i Win32\BTW.msi/t 1033.mst number)
    • Lenovo Hotkey software installs OK (installation program. EXE/S)
    • I put newspapers of the installation of the power manager, and there are no errors or it 'seems' to install OK (installation program. EXE/S)
    • I can advertise the POST image software Power Manager and it installs and works OK
    • In the task sequence run in order of Power Manager, Bluetooth, shortcut keys.

If all goes well, that provides the information of someone perhaps enlighten us.  It's a little frustrating, because the package actually allows to install.  I'm almost to the point where I want to try to create a collection with rules to fill with Lenovo laptops and install then required it.  It is not a critical application - just, it would be nice to have.

OK - I found the perfect answer for this.  The syntax that was needed was the following - Setup. EXE/s /f2"C:\Support\Logs\PWRMGRV.log" - but here's the thing.  In your task sequence, do a "run command line" before this stage of the application with the command "cmd.exe /c mkdir C:\Support\Logs".  If you do not specify this, it tries to rewrite in a place where he has no rights - and as a result does not work.

  • How to disable windows update auto update the driver for that particular device

    I have a MacBook air (13 inch, mid-2012)
I had already used a thing of Apple called "bootcamp" to partition the hard drive. Boot camp also allows you to assign which os is used with starting the computer.

Win 8 has been installed using an iso of Windows 8 and Microsoft Windows 7 USB DVD Tool to create a bootable USB key.
That all worked. but there is no drivers as one might expect. If the video was VGA and there was no sound, etc.
I downloaded a zip file containing all the drivers and an installer or install the program from apple.
    BootCamp5.0.5033.zip
I ran the installer and everything was installed and worked. He couldn't believe my luck. I've now had about pain free installed win 8.

But a frustrating problem has developed.

Every day or so my external screen connected by a mini display port adapter stops working. I restore the
pilot and it starts to work. So I guess that put automatic catch up and install a new driver. It does not work, I do this back and the cycle repeats. But... why...

I see all over the internet means to stop windows auto update all together, but this isn't what I want.

    That is the question:
Can someone help me to tell windows update doesn't auto not only the video driver?

Here is some info in case it would be useful to you gurus
    This driver works:
Graphics card Intel (r) HD 4000 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.2)
    Driver provider: Intel Corporation
    Driver date: 26/05/2012
    Driver version: 9.17.10. 2768
    Digital signer: Microsoft Windows

    This driver does NOT work:
    GPU Intel(r) HD 4000
    Driver provider: Intel Corporation
    Driver date: 12/12/2012
    Driver version: 9.17.10. 2932
Digital signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
Device Manager > display... > events tab

A waste of time this as frustrating. Now how to force it to never automatically updated only the video driver.

    Hello

You can not disable the automatic update to a specific device.

However, you can take control and disable the AutoUpdate for all hardware devices, which is the best option.

Press the Windows key + X to display the System menu , and then click Control Panel.

    Select devices and printers.

In the top section, click on icon with the name of the computer and select the Settings of Installation of the device.

In the settings window, select No, let me choose what to do and never install driver software from Windows Update.

    Click the save changes button.

This will prevent the hardware drivers installed by Windows Update. You will receive still all the other updates to Windows as usual.

If a piece of hardware should be updated in the future, you can just go the site of manufacturers of equipment and download/install the latest driver or reverse these options and get the driver from Windows Update.

    Hello

Windows Update recently made a lot of downloads on my computer about two weeks ago (I run it automatically and it works usually weekly) and he has made some changes to my system that create errors or difficulties with certain programs. The shield of the UAC is now appearing on many more programs for some reason any and now I'm a guest whenever a program is available. which is also appear on my AntiVirus program. Action Center flag appears almost every day now with warnings saying that my AntiVirus program and spyware is off (not sure if this is related to the UAC shield), but when I check my AntiVirus program everything works and after access; the flag of the Action Center shows while all right. Nobody knows how to solve this problem and get rid of the ecu of the UAC on programs (or at least some of them I want to be invited on)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm sure I've upgraded to Vista SP2, but not absolute, I can't find a lot of information in the case of the newspapers with the service pack level... only vista combined with some process is perceptible. I bought July ' 09 new and it came pre-installed with Vista on it. I think this is the tool I used to remove McAfee on this; It also came with Norton as an alternative option and both have been removed using their tools to uninstall BitDefender installation instructions walked me through the location and the removal of two of them before installing BitDefender on the computer. My user account is configured as an administrator, but when I right click on programs with the shield of the UAC on them, I'm not running as an administrator. The UAC slider is set at the 2nd ranked (by default); but I do not know how it was listed previous, I wondered about moving down one notch (but he advises not and I don't want to spoil anything).

Is it possible to get rid of the option of updating Windows 10 entirely?

To be honest, probably not.  Microsoft pushes the upgrade on several windows updates and will continue harass people until they do

  • Pavilion P6-2100: a virus erased files recovery D: drive and disabled windows update

When I realized that my Windows 7 was not updated as usual on my Pavilion P6-2100, I found that at least one of the files associated with the software update was missing in the area of abuse.  I was going to do a refresh of the system and then found that the recovery files in drive d: had been erased.  Googling the problem indicated that the problem was caused by a virus.  It seems to have other problems, except that Windows 7 is not updated.  (I hope that's the only problem).  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  • Windows Update disables competing anti-virus programs

I use Norton anti-virus for nearly a decade.  For this reason, I have not installed Windows Security, as it is in conflict.  I do every week a routine Windows Update.  Two nights ago, it looks like Windows Update automatically installed Windows security without my permission.  This has created a huge conflict with Norton anti-virus, various alerts of infection appeared and my network of connections have been disabled.  I had no choice but to do a system restore and disable Windows Update altogether.  I want to update Windows for occasional useful bugfixes, but cannot take the risk of extreme hassle of security of Windows being installed without my permission.  Any ideas?

So far, the system restore and the sweet Norton seems to have fixed.  But he was mean.

HOW to do a clean install of Win7: see "using the custom installation option" and formatting the hard drive section of http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery").

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

IMPORTANT! -Online free trial Norton will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the Norton removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs or updates to IE AND BEFORE installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).

  • How to disable Windows Live updates

I recently switched from a mac to an Asus laptop. I use a prepaid wireless modem and had barely put credit on it to discover a set of 1 GB used within 2 hours of my PC doing the updates of Windows Live without my knowledge and my credit was gone, so whenever I plug my modem usb to im afraid that my credit will get used because of these updates How do I get rid of them?

    Hi Tedwards78,

Windows updates are important for your safety and reliability of computers. Microsoft does not recommend disabling updates.

You can hide some updates which you don't want to install but, disable windows update is not wise.

    These links could be useful.
