meaning: broken pipe

Message from CP1515n printer problem: cannot write the print data, broken. What are the broken pipe?

I'm on a Mac 10.6.8 successfully using my printer C310 until recently when I got into trouble. The most recent message is 'broken pipe '.

I reset the network set up wizard on computer and printer, disconnected, closed, printer dropped and added, received test reports and network configuration, successful printer shows printer is connected, but when I send a print job, the printer is "idle" with employment showing 'impression' and after about 2 minutes, I get a message saying "BROKEN PIPE".

The only answer I found said something on the cusp, but the instructions are for a windows machine. My Mac does ' t have 'right click '. Is there a solution Mac for people using Mac computers, please?

    Hi JGarner98,

An error in conduct broken is a programming construct that is designed for data "pipe" from one point to another. From the description you have provided, it seems that yout said operating system which is has lost the ability to write the date on the printer. This is usually caused by some kind of corruption in the CUPS printing system.

CUPS consists of a print spooler and Scheduler, a filter system that converts the print data in a format that the printer will understand and a back-end system that sends this data to the print device. CUPS uses the IPP (Internet Printing) Protocol as a basis for the management of the work of printing and queues. - Source

To resolve this problem, I think that the best approach is to reset the printing system, repair disk permissions, add the printer using the driver and try to print again.

    Reset the printing system

    1. Click on the Apple icon ( ), then click on System Preferences.

    The bells?

You're right - the customer hung up before the server was able to send a response to him. In this case, the server has received the request of the customer and customer was waiting for an answer from him. The duration for which the customer is waiting for a response from the server is set by the customer read-timeout parameter.

In addition, it is worth looking at why the server sometimes (not always) take so long to answer. If some function calls to take more time? In this case, read-timeout to the customer must be increased to take account of this possibility. Or is that sometimes something happens in the server which makes it insensitive? Your previous question, I was just looking at that comes to mind here - in this case the culprit was a break from GC. This problem may be caused by a break from GC as well.

    Hello

305 error code is a failure of the complete (Full) disk Self Test (DST) and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

    Pipe broken

    Hello David,.

just do you see it in the newspapers, or you have users complaining that something doesn't quite work?
The reason the most common "Broken pipe" are users who stop at an application in their browser before the response was completely submitted. To stop, the user has not even need explicitly press a button of browser or escape key: If you have fairly complex pages with a relatively long loading time or response time longer due to a higher load, a user can continue to click the next target, without waiting for the loading of the page complete.
If everything works as expected, I keep on this message.

    Hi Martin,

The message "error: cannot communicate with mainApp (getVersion).» Please contact your system administrator. "you had means that there was a failure of software on your IPS.

Reset the module deletes it (and he did), but he might come back then I advise you to upgrade to the latest version on the train, you're running to pick up all the patches that have been integrated to the it and prosecute TAC if you are interested in the exact cause of the problem.

    Kind regards

  • Dell XPS 8500 switched HDs, no boot, the stable yellow power light

I was constantly making messages on my hard drive (T SATA 1) default so I bit the bullet and went and bought a new drive (2 T SATA). I left the original disc in its original configuration and installed my new drive as a secondary drive. I used Macrium reflex to try to clone the old drive to the new. I kept getting "failed to clone - broken pipe" message after about 93 percent of cloning. So I thought I would try to start using the new disc and dial-up connectors to entire hard drive after power off the power. After trying to reverse, all I get is a constant power of light yellow. The fans, the optical drive, etc are all performed, but nothing else happens. I turned off and turned back on the connection to the original installation. Same thing: only a yellow light. I know that a steady yellow light usually means some sort of failure of a component, but I believe that food is OK that everything in the case is running. Any help?

Have you tried to erase the BIOS?

    1. Power off, unplug
    2. Power button press / hold for about 15 seconds
    3. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery
    4. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
    5. Connect your drive HARD bootable SATA0 port on the motherboard
    6. Replace the battery and close the case. NOTE: may be time to install the new CR2032 battery, ~ $2
    7. See if it boots now

Fixed Orange LED motherboard is not identical to a touch of solid amber power at the edge of the tower. I assume that your motherboard the saw is turned on (it's a good thing) but the Start button / stop is Orange fixed.

    Troubleshooting steps

To try to solve this problem, I followed the steps described in the article «problems of printer on your Mac» I have reset the printing system and it does not work. I have also unplugged the printer, deleted the contents of the folder/library/printers/and then plugged the printer into.

You will need to check with Epson to see if there is a new driver for your device compatible with macOS Sierra. The old drivers are not compatible. Even with the new driver, some people state that the error is not fixed :-( YMMV.

  • How to Power Nap, sleep & AutoPowerOff play together?

    Hello

Configuration & system background: This is related to a network of small business for which I wrote a custom backup script that I have tested before deploying. The script rsyncs selected files from the workstation (2013 Mac Pro, OS X 10.11.6) on the server via wifi with an Airport Extreme. SSH without password is used by root to connect from the desktop to the server. The server is a Mac Mini (OS X 10.11.6/Server 5.1.7) 2014 end set not to sleep.

The script is loaded from launchd and is set to run at designated times throughout the day and night. It seems to work fine when my computer is awake. I read launchd to run programmed events when a computer wakes from sleep. What seems really do experience during the night (when I'm personally in mode "sleep"), it's that the script will run intermittently (i.e., not to the regular time) but it fails because the first use of SSH (of rsync) will expire. Full hostname of the server is used in the script, Vice President of the IP address.

On the workstation, Power Nap is enabled and the computer is allowed to sleep. pmset standbydelay = 10800 (3 hrs) and autopoweroffdelay = 14400 (4 hours). My understanding is that information in Mail, Notes, Contacts, etc., will be updated only if these applications are running. on my computer, I think that Notes was the only one running all night.

    Assumptions:

    (1) power Nap allows the script runs because the computer has partial wake up during the night.

    (2) the script is falling in the night economy modes of energy of the workstation do not allow DNS queries.

Then test: I got standbydelay and autopoweroffdelay every 12 hours and see if the script runs correctly this evening.

    Issues related to the:

    (1) my assumptions seem valid?

    (2) which of these modes of standby energy disables searches DNS or other network activity?

    (3) someone has a link to the proper documentation describing the technical inter-agency interactions when Power Nap is active?

    Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: change the standbydelay and autopoweroffdelay every 12 hours seems to allow the script to run. Execution does not at the scheduled time, so in my opinion, it happens when something else wakes the computer (the NAP is enabled). However, it seems much more likely to be broken pipes at night that I do during the day, and I'm this troubleshooting.

On the server, I confirmed by the newspaper pmset that computer don't is not reported as being put to sleep, so now I am bad shooting other things which could cause a part of the network to not work properly.

So I think that I have answered my first question (i.e., valid assumptions), I'm still looking for help to question 3.

    Thank you.
