measure the length of a path in Illustrator

Hello

I work in laser cutting, and very often I need to know how much time is the way I'm going to print with the machine. It is very useful to know the length (and area) of each path directly while you design in Illustrator.

How can I get this information in Illustrator CS6?

Thank you all

Michele

    Hi Ralph,

The description of the problem seems a little unclear and I wish I had a better understanding before you start working on it. I would really appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What is the name of the paint program?

2 have you tried to install the software of paint in Windows 7?

    3. are you able to install it? If this is not the case, do you have an error code or message?

  • Measure the length (inches/cm) of a text (CS5/forth)

I need to resize a cell so that it is exactly the smallest possible width without a condition of overflow / excess caused. I could perform a loop of resizing to check when Cell.overflow becomes false, but that seems slow and ugly. Is it possible that I can determine the required width (inches/cm, etc.) of the content of the text in the cell, and then set the width of the consequence of the cell?

  • triangles, the length of the pipe, I drives me crazy

I'm working on a project that requires the creation of the triangles that are not rectangle, isosceles or equilateral.  They have weird and lengths angles aside.  I downloaded and used the excellent Carlos Canto scripts.  But they only get so far.  Let me detail the problems.

First is to measure the length of line and angle.  HAVE the length of the line in this format: 10p7.32.  I managed to understand the p means picas, each made up of 12 points.  10p7.32 is so 127,32 picas.  I hope that there is a setting I missed because I'm tired enough to make these calculations.  (On the plus side I became adept by multiplying by 12.)

About the angles, measure of AI reports angles, uh, curiously.  As far as I can tell the reported angles, using a horizontal line and measure the angle from left to right.  Several measures of angles that I get are negative.  I understood how to convert positive numbers.  But this, too, is a pain. (On the plus side,... oh, never mind.)

But the real problem is that the triangles I create rarely coincide with triangles, I am trying to cover.  I can provide hundreds of examples.  But I don't want to.  I hope someone can give me a protocol for the creation of triangles that match those in the charts that I work with.

The problem is that your unzipped folder name is too long!
You need to rename the folder. Take a shorter name!

  • How to insert photoshop image with a work/clipping path in illustrator using the path?

How to place an image in Illustrator using the clipping/work path created in Photoshop?

I have a .jpg of an object on a background image. This image has a clipping path that écrêtera the background of the image. I could clip the outside background (in Photoshop) and save the image as a file .psd with a transparent background, and then insert the .psd file in Illustrator... it's easy. What I can't understand is to place the image (bottom) .jpg and use clipping path Photoshop be clipping path in Illustrator. In this way, I can take this clipping path and use it as a layer of gloss spot for production. I work on a Macbook Pro and CC2014. Thank you.

But you can export the path separately in Illustrator, then he get married to the JPEG placed as a clipping mask.

In traces of Photoshop Panel, target the path, and then choose file > export > traces to Illustrator...

He'll write a .ai file. Open and select all (it's a quick and easy way to 'see' the path because Photoshop it will export with no border or background, leaving mostly 'invisible' on the artboard Illustrator).

Then you can copy it to the collage at the top of your JPEG placed. Position them as you like, select this option and the JPEG format, then choose object > clipping mask > make...

All this means that you do not enter the 32 directly anywhere. Instead you must do the math to figure out your margins and or gutters between columns to leave the 32 picas, or calculate the inlays for a paragraph style (or the text block) If you need set narrower than the column type.

  • Find the length of a segment in CS6

Hi, I need to find the length of direct a segment of line I draw on CS6, but it doesn't seem to be a simple way to do it. Tabs of information and the document Info palette simply give Xy and width and height. I have a value called D occasionally flash on the pallet, but seems not updated correctly and I can't seem to appear more and he makes me a key. Is there an easier way to do outside the measurement tool which is also awkward and I'm not sure correct?

Try to use the Document Info Panel flyout to select objects and make sure that it is set to the selection. With the path selected the top line will give information on this path, including the length in units of document.

Is it possible to measure the distance of any document in photoshop using the measure tool, using the script. Below the steps required by me. Hope I'm clear in my communications.

This only works with CS5 because it now uses the tool instead of a path rule. But it solves all the problems talked about in this thread and many other differences between the original function and the data in the info panel.

It returns a custom with angle and length properties object if there is a rule tool line in the active document and not of the indefinite. I didn't know if the length must be a unitValue or number in the units of the rule settings. I went with number because the Panel info has different number of decimal places for the different units. And as the Panel assigned the corresponding graduation info per cent the length value is empty

  • Approximation of the length of a line of Bézier segment...

I wonder if anyone has had a few tricks or methods for approximating the length of a line of Bezier path in illustrator.  It doesn't have to be super accurate, with 10% would be acceptable, that I just need to have a close idea of length.  I know how to determine the points on the Bezier curve and I could divide the path down in small straight line segments and add up the length of the segments to get close to the length of the entire Bezier idea - but I need something less CPU intensive than that.  Any ideas?
