Media Center-no sound Windows 8 on a user account

When starting in WMC, I do not have the original agreement.

I don't hear any clicks or sound when scrolling or by selecting in the main menu of WMC.

WMC has no sound when the TV tuner is selected.

When you run the installer, I do not have the speaker test.

However, when the music titles are selected in WMC, you can hear perfectly. The music also works very well when selected in Windows 8 subway music tile.

This computer has 3 accounts.  For 2 of the 3 accounts, WMC works perfectly. A single account (admin), I have the above problems. The system worked very well for many months, until recently.

I tried to update the sound card drivers. I also uninstalled them. No luck.

I compared the pilots and the structure (in Device Manager) for the account of work and the non-working account.  They look the same.

Clues?

Hello

From your description, I understand that the sound does not work in a user account.

If you use a user account from Microsoft, please run the troubleshooter Microsoft account. It is an automated tool that can find and automatically fix some problems. It is available in English only, but will work in all languages.
http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=268424

If you do not use the Microsoft account, we create a new user account and transfer settings.

To create a new user account, see this link:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=Windows-8

To transfer the profile settings, follow the suggestions below:

a. log on as a user other than the new user that you created or the user that you want to copy the files.

b. press on x and the Windows key together and select File Explorer.

c. click on / tap the View tab, and then click / tap:hidden elements.

d. now, visit user\ C:\Users\Old

e. copy all files, except the following three files NtUser.dat, NtUser.ini, NtUser.log.

f. navigate to C:\Users\New user\

g. paste all files here.

h. restart the computer and the connection to the new user and check.

i. Once you are confident that all of the settings and data are transferred to the new user account, you can delete the old user account.

Hope that the information provided is useful.

The material that I was referring to is the material that you were talking about, namely your card graphic and sound card. I thought that this could be as simple as installing the correct hardware drivers.

As I am not very familiar with your particular PC, it is not that I do. You can switch to the thread where PA bear you helped:

  • I can get 10 in my Hp Media Center m8020n PC windows have Vista

I don't know what to do about 10 Windows for my HP Media Center m8020n. I've had this for about 8 years and he loves and does not wish to continue with it. Can I put Windows 10 here and update all software there need or do I have to buy a new PC

    Hello

First of all I wouldn't do this on any machine that has more than 5 years. Secondly, please note: no free upgrade from Vista to Windows 10 you must buy Windows 10 license of Windows or 7/8 to get a free update of Windows 10. Money and time to devote to this would be painful.

But if you want to try, please read the following article:

First of all, there is not - and has never been - anywhere to download a legal copy of any version of Windows XP...

Second, Windows XP Media Center Edition was available as a pre-installed OEM operating system (for example, Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.).  If you wanted a computer with MCE, you should have bought one with MCE.  In the unlikely case where your second-hand computer comes from an OEM and it came originally with MCE (look at the sticker on the box), it is possible, at a distance, the same manufacturer can provide the installation media necessary for a price.

If the video card in the computer is able to drive the "big flat screen", then you have nothing else (assuming that the computer meets other material).  See http://www.ehow.com/info_8204776_needed-netflix-streaming-work.html and http://www.ehow.com/how_7561774_stream-netflix.html

  • Media Center product error ": \Windows\System32\Mpeg2Data.ax is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

    Hello

After you follow the instructions to repair a problem as indicated in the following thread, I now have a problem with Media Center

    https://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Office/Forum/office_2010-office_install/problem-with-grooveintlresourcedll/c12778e6-4822-4cac-ad22-6e39cd4a4180

Media Center opens OK but after the start of a string of television, immediately it is running (and still running), it produces the following error

    ehexthost.exe - incorrect Image

    ---------------------------

C:\Windows\System32\Mpeg2Data.AX is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.

I tried to remove Media Center via Add or remove programs, but the problems reoccurs. No one knows how to fix?

As I said, this is a repair through the upgrade option (Win7 64 bit).

I've sorted the DotNet question using the cleaning tool to remove all traces of the previous versions, then only the latest version. Other remedies proposed in the community forums has not worked.
