Media Center seems to be updated

My guide listings will not download. When I look at my media center 'about' it tells me it ends 01/01/2013?

Hello disikora,

Please see the thread below because there was a problem with the program guide in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It must be corrected. If not, let us know.

  • Windows Media Center will not be updated to allow the Blu Ray

    Hello

I have an Acer laptop that supports Blu Ray disc, but when I go to play with Windows Media Center there is a pop up that says that "an essential element must be updated", but whenever I click "update", it tells me that my internet connection is not working it may not update. I checked and there is nothing wrong with my internet connection and library still refuses to update. Is there a way to force it to update? Or another program that will support the Blu Ray?
    Thank you
    Kerryn
There is no native support in Windows for the Blu - Ray, including Media Center. You
need a third-party Blu Ray player. What Blue Ray software supplied with your
computer? It works as a standalone program?

  • Windows Media Center will not download updates to the Guide. Netflix and Internet TV options do not appear on the menu screen.

I tried to configure Media Center for Internet TV and Netflix. I have Setup several times and attempted to manually download the updates. So far, neither option appeared on the menu screen and I repeatedly received an error message when you try to download updates to the guide that directs me to check the update log. I find the event log, and that's what he said:

    * 10:44:58 - test of internet connection. 10:45:01 - established connection. 10:45:02 - directory of recovery. 10:45:03 - directory of recovery. 10:45:04 - directory of recovery. 10:45:05 - Directory of recovery.

    * 10:45:05 - cannot retrieve the directory (error: invalid security token.)

    * 10:45:05 - SportsSchedule the package is not available. 10:45:05 - SportsV2 the package is not available. 10:45:05 - ClientUpdate the package is not available. 10:45:05 - NetTV package is not available. 10:45:05 - MCESpotlight the package is not available. 10:45:05 - MCEClientUX the package is not available. 10:45:05 - broadband package is not available. 10:45:06 - errors during the last update. 10:45:06 - retries at 2009-10-25 04:54:37.

Also, when I tried to contact support by email and has been asked to enter my product ID number to verify the activation, I was told it was not valid. I repeatedly entered it exactly as stated on the page of the system. I also activated the software certified on the same page of the system.

Any help would be appreciated because I would really like to be able to use these features.

    Thank you.

I had this same problem. That's what I did which appeared to fix (not sure if that fix or if it sets just itself). I ran the mcupdate.exe file located in the C:\windows\ehome\ directory (or some windows player is on). Yet once again, I'm not sure if this corrects the problem, or if it randomly determines.

  • Guide to Windows Media Center will not be updated, hourly almost empty

Using WMC with antenna and Uverse Internet connection.  These days Guide in Windows Media Center has been warning me about the guide with less than 3 days on his calendar.  Now I see that the schedule tomorrow.  It asks if I want to update the guide, I say OK and it says it is complete, but the guide never gets updated.  After tomorrow, if the guide is not updated, this feature will be worthless.  How can it get updated since it controls recording? I can't start my library because the option to start, it is nowhere.

In the start search box type: %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe and click OK.

If it works then create a Media Center shortcut: -.

Right click on desktop > New > shortcut > to locate the element type: '%SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe' - follow the wizard to finish making the shortcut

    Hi kathyjeffers,

Windows update no longer works for systems with SP2 or less. To check your systems service pack level, click on Start, run and type Winver in the Run dialog box. If your system does not already have Windows XP SP3 installed, download and install XP SP3 from the link below. (Ignore warnings about professionals of computing and network facilities).

    Windows XP SP3.

Windows XP SP2. (According to THE level of SP)

  • Win 7 (64 - bit) Home premium, SP1 - Windows Media Center seems incomplete

I would use WMC to watch TV on the internet (a feature I've seen mentioned in the forums), but I don't see that option anywhere. I went through the option 'run installation again', thus deactivating and then reactivating (the Control Panel--> programs) and--> tower features or disable windows features and then repeat the installation procedure.

I see a link for recorded tv in the TV section, and setting up live tv. I understand that I should see as "rest" and "internet tv".

I'm in the United States, and my copy of the operating system is not hacked and is saved.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Try to install the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 - on SP3.

    Hello

All this started when my Xbox360 is dead, sent it for repair, came home another, all hung up and tried to connect to the Media Center. Of course, it did not work and the screen says to uninstall? (something), I forgot today, it has been a long road since then. BUT I uninstalled Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and updates that came after. NOW realize it was a mistake, I'm not of the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on your computer. And I'm confused regarding why, for the first time, that I can't find a single KB article on this problem.

And even if I did not restore the system off, there is no restore point on my machine.

So I'm always searching in google and microsoft.com but a little lost right now.

    Moccan,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  I would like to know if you read this article for the hotfix rollup: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900325.  In particular the section more information, which has this:

If the 886904 update is installed, you must uninstall the 886904 update before you install the Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Otherwise, the installation of .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 will fail.

To determine whether the 886904 update is installed, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
    2. Click to select the Show updates check box.
    3. In the currently installed programs list, look for the following element:
Fix for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (KB886904)

If you see this option, you must remove the hotfix. To remove the patch, click Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886904), and then click Remove. Then, visit the Windows Update Web sit to download and install the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

If you haven't checked out on this yet, then follow the steps below and let us know the result. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
