Media player error "no Audio output device is installed".

When you try to play music, I get an error code saying that the output device Audio n is installed... Please HELP

Hi Graham,

Welcome to the Microsoft community!

According to the description, it looks like the error appears when you try to listen to music.

However, we need more information about the issue to help you better.

Please help me to answer these questions.

1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

2 have had any changes made to the computer before the question?

3 have you tried to install the drivers for the audio device?

I have a couple of steps that should help you to solve this problem.

Method 1:

This tutorial can help you identify and resolve its current problems in Windows, including no sound from your speakers or headphones. This tutorial does not cover sound problems related to specific programs. Sound problems can be caused by cables that are not connected properly, damaged drivers, incompatible drivers, sound settings, missing updates and problems with your sound card.

Method 3: Install the software from the manufacturer of the device. If your device is equipped with a disk, this disk can contain software that installs a driver for the device.

    Method 4:

1 right-click the volume in the taskbar icon, and select sounds
    2. scroll down about 3/4 on the events program: the list and select the option that says Windows user account control

  • Error "no Audio output device is installed".

All of a sudden I lost my audio out of nowhere part, about 2 weeks ago and have not been able to solve this problem

I have updated my audio drivers, tried the BIOS update and have tried a dozen different bugs, all who do not work, I tried the system restore goes several times earlier and earlier dates of restoration each time and that also did not work

audio does not work through the external speakers or headphones

I have not installed new hardware or updated my operating system, I have also not recently installed any new programs or updated an any of them, unless other wise noted above.

When I hover over the ""peripheral output Audio n is installed"" speaker icon, it's impossible because I'm on a laptop that has a built in speakers who have always worked perfectly fine

my laptop is a HP Pavilion dv9000 series (HP Pavilion dv9730us Entertainment Notebook PC to be precise), I'm running on Windows Vista 32-bit

can somone please help me finally solve this problem?

It's really old, but I thought I would mention how this has been finally resolved.

a little more than a year after I posted this one of my friends who's in it fixed it for me by repeating the informed here solution to reinstall the audio driver, who alone does not work well so it changed the audio from the internal speakers to an external source (USB headset) and it works fine now.

so long story short, if your audio fails all of a sudden like that your better (cheaper, faster and easier) solution is to just get a USB wireless headset (I recommend the Logitech G920).

Of course you shouldn't go after attempting a system restore or reinstall the audio driver that the earpiece is a bit on the expensive side.

    --------------------------------------------------------

Another solution might be to pull on your hard drive and put it in another computer (provided that computers use the same type of hard drive, IE. SATA), you won't lose any of your files, programs, or settings, but get another computer may not be worth the expense. Or you can clone your hard drive on a separate hard drive, which is essentially the same thing.

  • M17x-R4 "no audio output device is installed" error

Over the past 2 weeks I had more problems with my laptop Alienware M17x-R4. First, the screen is dead. The wireless card is dead then. And now there is no sound and when I hover over the sound icon in the taskbar, what I see is: "no audio output device is installed". I had a technician Dell out for repairs 3 times. Motherboard has been replaced twice. He disassembled the entire laptop and reassembled it. And the sound still doesn't work. The BIOS has been updated several times, drivers reinstalled several times. Everything has been checked by myself, Dell telephone and online technical support and the technician that came out 3 times. Someone else has a solution to this problem? the technician recommends whether a replacement computer that he cannot fix. Not impressed to say the least.

I had to fix mine twice so far. Everything that do you is download the latest bios, even if you already have it and run it. I believe it is called flashing your bios/cmos.

  • "No Audio output device is installed" on Portege M600

    Hi all

I had this problem. Today in the afternoon, I was working with my M600 while listening to music. Suddenly, there's like a voice of vibrations... as "zzzz" voice. I was surprissed and decided to cut my music player (I use winamp) and continued complete my work. But, whenever I did by clicking on, this noise appeared with 'click' sound. So, I decided to turn off the PC.

But now, I surprised because when I turn on my PC, there is "No Audio output device is installed" msg with the sign of the Red Cross on my speakers. I do not anything for the sound before. I have not installed anything. I have day my anti-virus, but that's all.
This is not the first time happened. I had - a little - this problems twice but it was because I had windows update and I solved it by restoring the system.

I did system restore, but it still won't work. I really need a help, since sound is so important to me!

Have idea what had happened and how to handle this?

    Thank you in advance.

    Putri

Have you tried to install a new sound card driver?
You can find this driver on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Of course, it could also be a hardware problem with your motherboard and/or the sound chip but try first to update the driver.

The sounds you describe could also be a HARD drive problem.
Look in the event viewer for errors.

    Now, restart the laptop.
