I ripped some cd before. While he was trying to rip some more lately I get the message that media player is unable to extract one or more files to the cd in the drive. I have no idea why this has happened. Someone at - he a clue.

Hello

You receive the error that Windows Media Player is unable to extract one or more tracks from the CD. The error is often caused when you try to copy the CD to a poor quality.

Follow the steps and make sure you have an audio recording of best quality.

 (a) open Windows Media Player.

(b) in Windows Media Player, click Tools in the menu file . If you don't see the file menu, press the ALT key .

(c) in Tools , click on Options.

(d) in the Options window, click the Rip music tab, and drag the Audio quality slider to the right where it is, either the best quality, or the second highest quality.

You can also follow this thread and refer to the suggestions posted by Zpete and Divya R who helped solve a similar question.

I also got this message "Windows Media Player is unable to extract one or more tracks from the CD" pop up in an attempt to 'Copy' the CD!  I have Windows 7 and had NO problem for several weeks, ripping my music from CD sales in my MUSIC folder.  I got all "parameters" laid so that whenever I inserted a new CD he automatically pulled and then ejected.  I had NOT brought any changes to settings but for some reason all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore?

I have trried restart, check all the parameters according to your advice making SURE that all the files of 'Target' were correct (they are), but all that happens is a few seconds after I insert a CD it gives me this message (Windows Media Player cannot extract one or more tracks from the CD.) and then the CD will eject with NO of TEAR that occur?  It's VERY frustrating!  There, can anyone help?  Please?  I have NO idea where to check then!

  • Windows media player is giving a message: Windows Media Player is unable to extract one or more tracks from the CD. How can I fix it?

Trying to rip songs from a CD to design with an SD card via USB.

In the WMP library, you click on organize and select manage libraries - music. What places are? If there is no available location, remove them and also make sure that the default saving location is set. Do the same for the other libraries (videos, pictures, and Recorded TV).

If this does not help, close WMP, open Windows Explorer, right-click the music library, select properties and click on restore by default. After that, make sure that a backup location is defined (as indicated by a check mark).

  • Media Player 11 not to recognize length of mp3 files

Until a week ago, everything was great with wmp 11. Then all of a sudden I have more the length of track to one of my mp3s in my library. If I play a piece of the library, the scroll bar down does not recognize the length. When I try to move the scroll bar, it just goes back to zero and restarts the song. If I go to a playlist and play, track lengths appear and the scroll bar works correctly. But as soon as I go back to the library, the legnths disappear. I can not burn CD because wmp cannot detect the lengths of track. I can add playlists to the burn list only after that I play. But I can't make a "mix" of various songs from other playlists or the library. Any suggestions?

  • Windows Media Player for Vista, does not play my avi files and says he has a codec error?

Came across this problem trying to put an AVI in powerpoint presentation for the school. I don't know how this happened or how to fix the error. The error indicates that windows media player is not the right codec to play the video. However, when I sent it myself and opend it upwards on another computer, which doesn't have powerpoint, it plays very well.

I did some research as to what a codec for windows media player, that's what code and decodes the video compression. However, when I tried to download the appropriate codec file, there is nothing. Not even useful workaround solutions.

In addition, went and downloaded quicktime and it could not read the video either.

Any help or ideas would be greatly apreciated. Thank you!

    Hi DaisyReaper,

Are you able to play .avi files?

You can use your favorite search engine to download and install the latest codec for Windows Media Player. Subsequently, check if you are able to read .avi files.

  • Windows Media Player 12 will not play mp4, mp3, wmv files through IIS hosted local site when the PC is disconnected from the Internet

I have an IIS Web site 6.1 on local 32-bit Windows 7 machine that serves HTML and MP4 videos via Internet Explorer on the local computer.  An internet connection is not necessary because it is all local storage and local accommodations through IIS.  IIS is configured to serve the MP4 videos in the form of downloadable files, don't not streaming somehow.  I have the right MIME type ".mp4" with the installation of "video/mp4" in the IIS server, so I don't think that's the problem.

When the machine is connected to the internet, by clicking on a video link MP4 in any HTML page served by the local IIS server results in Windows Media Player opening and playing the video in its own window.  However, when the Ethernet cable is unplugged, by clicking on the same results of video link MP4 in Windows Media Player by opening its own window, and then display this error message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file.  If the file is on the Internet, connect to the Internet.  If the file is on a removable storage card, insert the storage card.

It's almost as if Windows Media Player has a bug and since it accesses this media file via a URL, but the machine is not connected to a network, he thinks that this file is unplayable.

When the Ethernet cable is disconnected, the local IIS server is still all the HTML code and ActiveX content except for media files.  I also tried to access MP3 and WMV files via the IIS server to see if Windows Media Player will open those when the computer is disconnected from the Internet.  These caused also Windows Media Player files display the same error message.

I tried the VLC (VideoLAN) Player after changing the property file in VLC of WMP for .mp4 files extension.  With VLC installed and the extension changed to VLS property, I can download/open the MP4 video using the link in the web page served by IIS all when they are disconnected from the internet.  The only thing I can't do is get VLC player to open and play the video simply by clicking on the link in Internet Explore web pages served by the local IIS server.

I would like to make use of Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player with this IIS server that serves the MP4 videos rather than using VLC player.

    Thank you

    Michael Rayman

I finally found the answer to my problem:

When they are disconnected from the internet, mysteriously, Windows Media Player 12 requires that you check a checkbox in tools > Options... > zone settings tab player called "Internet connection (ignore the other commands).  Once this box is checked and the settings saved on APPLY, then Windows Media Player 12 will play videos served by the local IIS server on the same machine, while disconnected from the Internet.
