Remember that for a PPTP VPN server you must forward/open the TCP 1723 Port through a firewall or a router to the PC server is behind. You must also make sure that the firewall or the router will pass traffic GRE protocol 47 . This is sometimes called PPTP Pass Through or VPN Pass Through the firewall or the router. Windows Firewall automatically communicates the GRE protocol traffic if you make an Exception for the Port TCP 1723.

You can test it by running the test detailed in sections PPTP Ping and VPN traffic in this Cable Guy article.

  • I want to know how to put my vista as a vpn server, so I can connect from work?

I have Vista Home Basic! and I want it to be VPN server so this way I can access resources on this subject. After researching I found that a customer who wants to set up a private network virtual assigned must address PUBLIC IP. Please ask me I would thank you for it!

None of the editions of Windows Welcome in native mode allow remote connections from an external PC.  In addition, your own home network router should protect your LAN House of this type of connection.  If you want to connect to your home PC, you need to set your router firewall to allow incoming connections on a port of your choice (not standard ports for incoming connections) and you will ned to install a program such as VNC to accept the incoming connection.  Alternatively, you can buy a service like GoToMyPC (http://gotomypc.com/) that will secure your home firewall courses.

  • Using Cisco VPN Client in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    Hi all!
I need to use Cisco VPN Client to connect to my server in the company, because my company uses lotus notes Server, I have to connect Cisco VPN to access e-mail. But now my windows version is Windows 7 Pro 64 bits that cannot directly install this application, I already installed XP Mode and creatde shortcut to Windows 7, I plugged the Cisco VPN to my Cisco VPN server, but I can not access the server, Pls help me and show me how to solve this problem

Open the XP VM itself, do not use the shortcut that was published in
the W7 boot menu. You need to install Outlook / your email client
Inside the virtual machine, as well as on the side of W7. You can point to the same
PST files if you have local PST files, but you just can't open them in
at the same time of W7 and XP VM.

There is no way to bridge using the shortcut of publishing app

Some people have reported success with the third party IPSec
replacements as customer universal shrew or the NCP. Your IT Department.
would like to know if these are supported

  • Cisco 831 - easy VPN server

    Hello

I am trying to create an easy VPN server on Cisco 831. When I "test" the easy VPN he said that it tested successfully, but when I try to VPN in the router of the built in Windows XP VPN client, I'm unable to connect.

Does anyone have recommendations for how to configure easy VPN? I basically just selected all the default options. I was not able to find tutorials in the Cisco online documentation.

Do I need to have the Cisco VPN client to connect to the Cisco router?

    Other thoughts?

Your IP address pool you are trying to assign to remote users is part of your local network, which is not the best way to assign the ip address to the VPN Clients, and I've seen a lot of problems in the past were route it not forwards the packets to the client. This allows you to change the POOL of something other than your LAN. E.g. 192.168.1.0/24.

Also, make sure that you re - configure your 102 ACL accordingly.

Once you make changes, try to connect again and let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards

    Arul

  • What VMWare used to run W2K Server in Windows Server 2008 x 64?

We have recently replaced a 32-bit Windows Small Business Server with Standard Windows Server2008 x 64 but find that a particular database will not work on a 64 bit OS.

The Publisher of the application said to run it on Windows Server 2000 or 2003 on a virtual machine, and we are just lucky to have a clean and unused copy of Windows Server 2000.

I used MS VirtualPC, but have never used VMware.  Should what version of VMWare I use?  Preferably a free version?

In addition, any info or links to information, which would help the installation process would allow me to save time and greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

I don't really expect VMware Server 1 for work on Wk28 x 64... the product is not updated on this operating system.

Windows 2008 is perhaps editable so that it will work... but then why bother using the new operating system if you pass on the new security model. The right way to go indeed uses VMware server 2 because it will also mean that you have a supported configuration.

Where or where did I go wrong turn?  Was it because I was bottle fed as a child, or maybe when I turned my teacher of class 2 with a pistol to water... but I digress.

The documentation that I found on the VMWare Web site does not appear to be any reference to the creation of a host name, the user name or the password during the Setup process.  Of course, I missed something along the line.

VMware server 2 has all of its normal maintenance and the remote in the browser console.

After installation you can access the console via https://127.0.0.1:8333

Instead of localhost (127.0.0.1) address, you can also try the real IP address of the computer or host name.

I expect that there is a menu option to access the management interface in the start menu under Windows 2008, but apparently not. Guess I have to implement on my both Win2008 box afterwards... The account to use to log on is the administrator account on your windows machine.

No guidance to properly install VMWare Server 2 (or same v1), and then creating a new virtual machine would be appreciated.

I suppose you start with something like "Everything first uninstall v1 and start v2 installation process".  Then what?

Then try opening the administration interface of Vmware Server via the browser and if that doesn't work, post here.

    Wil

  • Can't ssh on Mac OS VPN server

    I can connect to my VPN L2TP server with my iPhone running iOS 10 through my network of data carriers and passed to my home network from Comcast, but everything does not work;

    What works:

Access default Web site running the macOS Server using its IP address

    Public Web surfing

I can ping my phone of any system IP address on my network

What does not (what I tried):

SSH to any system macOS on my network

Access screen sharing on any system macOS on my network

Resolve the local hostname to an IP address

    More information

my iphone is running iOS 10

My computers are running macOS Sierra

I use Mac OS as host VPN server

I use the client VPN L2TP iOS 10.

Firewalls in the system is disabled.

Typical VPN connections, you use the DNS server of your iPhone and not the DNS server of the network corresponding to your server.  In addition, Hello services are only available on the LAN.  So you have no way to resolve names to IP adrdesses for the network, you are VPNing.

The only easy solution from an iPhone is to make a list of IP addresses and use them to connect instead of host names.  using IPs will work as long as your ISP does not also use the same internal (like 192.168 or 10.0) IP address than the network that you connect to.

  • Unable to connect to the VPN server

    Hello

I'm on Sierra, iOS macOS 10 and Mac OS Server 5.2 (on a Mac mini).  (All dated September 21, 2016)

Because PPTP is no longer supported, I am trying to create L2TP.  Unfortunately, when I try to connect to the server, I get the error "the VPN server has failed. Please check the server address and try to reconnect. »

I do not think it is a problem of networking: back to my Mac is not enabled, the appropriate ports are transmission (UDP 500, 1701, 4500) and server says that the service is accessible.

When I check the logs from the server after a connection attempt, I find:

    21/09/16 21:08:09.994 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:13.285 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:19.884 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    Any suggestions?

Does anyone know where the configuration file is supposed to be on the server, so I can look at?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Rick,

  • Configure a VPN server on non-server version

I have seen that it is possible to configure your Mac as a VPN server, even if you do not have the server version of Mac OS. Yosemite. Freeware such as VNC Enabler and VPN server Configurator can easily do that. So I tried. I forwarded your UDP, ports 500, 1701, and 4500 to the local IP address of my computer. I did the same for port 9 so I can wake on LAN. I made sure that IPSec, PPTP and L2TP passthrough are enabled (Linksys router). Nothing... does not work. The State of the VPN server says it is, but I can not connect from the outside. I can't wake the computer either, even if Wake for Ethernet network access is on. My IPS does not block these ports.

    Any idea?

Have you checked to see if the ports are actually open? Check here http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Also do you connect through a domain name or IP? If the domain name is set to the right IP?

It works on the LAN if change you the server address to its local IP address?

  • Best VPN server

I use the VPN server through Server 5.1. However, I recently bought an EdgeRouter POE, and I plan to change to its VPN. Can someone offer advantages/disadvantages for one against the other?

    Thank you

    Jeff

I have no experience using the EdgeRouter and it took quite some dig able to determine that this was the case to all VPN. It seems mainly focused on being a router Ethernet to Ethernet. However as mentioned, I finally found a reference, which suggests he can do the following VPN protocols.

    • IPSec Site to Site and remote access
    • OpenVPN Site‐to‐Site and remote access
    • RAS PPTP
    • Remote access L2TP
    • PPTP client

Download and read the whole manual I don't remember not its VPN features.

I can say that I gave up on VPN server own Apple as it supports only L2TP and PPTP that these two days are considered to be weak from a security point of view and which can be used for VPN on demand configurations. I now use StrongSwan5 which allows to make a Linux server

    • IKEv2 Site to Site and remote access
    • IPSec Site to Site and remote access

Both being able to VPN on demand.

IKEv2 is currently considered the most secure VPN solution. IKEv2 is supported the use of VPN client built into El Capitan and iOS 9.

StrongSwan5 works with the built-in VPN Apple customer and StrongSwan5 supports the use of SSL certificates, it also supports force all traffic through the VPN - a common requirement of companies configuration VPN connection.
