  • External flash for wireless on the A77 operation and A700

I have a DSLR Sony A-77 and another (former) A-700. I shoot in a studio with 2 flashes Sony wireless and manual way. The internal flash triggers the external flashes that are placed on the floor or on tripods, one on each side. Now, I want to add a third speed light mainly for the backlight. I was told to buy a used Minolta Flash (to save costs). I don't know what Flash will work the way I need to work.
Which is compatible with my camera?
I'll be able to use manually, wireless, as internal third triggered flash to flash my cameras?

Is it possible to find a used or a new one at a lower cost?
Thanks in advance for your attention.
    Nuki

Unfortunately, we have not tested the compatibility of third party brand with our cameras and we can not guarantee full functionality. However, any flash unit that can be optically triggered should be able to operate as a slave flash.

It will be, but you will need to shoot in manual mode to adapt to its release. The camera cannot control if you need to do the work.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones comparing memory on "BOLD" for iphone: (?)

The "BOLD" website lists: in addition to 624 MHz Intel procesor by Marvel (compared to 312 MHz), it lists flash 128 MB and 1 GB on-board memory and a slot for up to 16 GB more.

The iphone site lists: it just says 8 GB or 16 GB flash.

I do not understand the difference.  I think that the world of office in what concerns the hard drive and Ram.  I guess, but don't know, as smart phones like these use something similar to this, but given that two Web sites use exactly the same terminology I do not know how to compare.

    (1) the data above means that the iphone has much more available memory? (After all, 1 GB of flash is much more than 128 MB flash)

    (2) or maybe its apples and oranges and the 8 GB or 16 GB iphone capacity memory simply alluded without actually it indicating the location available for additional memory, so in reality is the same thing as the "BOLD"?  (But if its what so what's onboard memory iphone to compare with the 1 GB onboard memory referenced to the "BOLD"?)  And what is the comparison of the iphone for flash 128 MB?)

    (3) for the basic understanding, is the 128 MB of flash to the "BOLD" actually the RAM I think of a desktop computer, and if yes, what is the on-board memory of 1 GB?

Can someone clarify all above and in particular specify them the appropriate comparisons with the iphone and not only on the question of memory, but also what is the processor of the iphone and the speed of the processor?

Thank you.  The supposed November 4, 2008 U.S. retail release date is almost here.  I really hope that many folds referenced on this forum are addressed in this new phone.

Hello, you shouldn't think if conditions of RAM (RAM) / WORM (hard drive), but in terms of xxxx. On Blackberry devices, you have a partition for the system & applications (called "Internal memory"): it's the 128 MB on the "BOLD". On it, you hold:

    • The PIM applications: email, notes, address book, calendar, tasks and notes
    • Phone applications: SMS/MMS, browser, speech recognition
    • Third application Opera Mini, games and each application you want to download
    • the RAM as you understand it, on a computer

Then you have an additional memory card (also called Media card), 8 MB up to 32 GB, which can contain all other things: photos, videos, mp3, Office & PDF files. It is equivalent to the non-system partition.

On the iPhone, the two briefs are merged.

On the Blackberry, there is a third party application that allows to store applications on the memory card and load them onto the internal memory before using it.

It is quite difficult to compare the two:

on the iPhone, you have a powerful processor somehow, which is crippled by a lot of your operating system (it's OSX for Mobile, but always OSX). On a Blackberry, you have a CPU less powerful, but with an operating system designed for a handheld device.

On an iPhone, an application is large enough. It is very rare to find one that is less than 1 MB.

On the blackberry, it's the opposite: the applications are smaller.

On an iPhone, you can not get an application that has not been approved by Apple Inc. (unless you jailbreak your iPhone). On a blackberry, you can get any app that someone publishes. Including porn.

On an iPhone, if I want to develop an application, I have to pay a tax of $100 AppleInc; If I did not, then my application can be downloaded by jailbroken iPhones. On a Blackberry, I don't pay anything. I just publish it somewhere on the web. I'll give you a very specific example: Opera Mini is one of the most beautiful browser for mobile phones. Apple has refusedto got it publishedso no one can use it on an iPhone (except the jailbreak).

Another very concrete example: If you pay $100 and prepare your application, if Apple refuses, then you have the eyes to cry: you've lost time (and perhaps money to hire developers) and you cannot be assured that you can sell.

Another example: say, you sell an application. It is 10EUR. If the consumer is not happy with it, they can return it. In this case, he or she gets the return of 10EUR. Fine for him or her. But continues to Apple the transaction fees, which means or do not get the return 10EUR but 10EUR less standard fees from Apple (it's to a few % but I don't know how).

    the result is twofold:

on the one hand, there is a trend that everyone wants to develop for Apple

on the other side, Apple is doing everything to rot the lives of these people.

But Apple's App Store is a good idea, and Blackberry has just made an announcement about a same store for Blackberry users.

I just got a curve, so I'm not even interested in looking at the most advanced mobile devices with touch screen, but I think you should try both for real and not just look at the numbers. There are also some exclusive features to the iPhone: link to the iTunes music store and iPod it contains. and others that are exclusive to the "BOLD": stereo Bluetooth, copy/paste and total synchronization with Outlook (emails not only).

  • CUPS, Jabber IM for iPhone, Mobile and external access

    Hello world

How do you provide external secure access for email Instant Jabber for iPhone client and the Cisco Mobile customer on an iPhone?

There are so-called security SSL for Jabber Instant Messaging, but is unable to find all the information on how. The Cisco Mobile client appears to the needs of the AnyConnect VPN client and encourage users to connect via VPN, first...

After a bit of bumping into a wall your head wondering why there was no documentation for external access to Cisco Jabber for iPhone, I realized that Cisco Jabber IM for iPhone is an entirely different product and Jabber for iPhone seems to be the new name of Cisco Mobile customers. Yet, the only documentation I can find for the Jabber Instant Messaging is that I can "security by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption" but no information on implimenting it with CUPS.

On top of that, the Jabber IM for iPhone can not make calls but rather calls Cisco Mobile, which raises the question of providing external access to this too, and the only solution I've ever found is to use the AnyConnect VPN client on the device also. Suddenly, it seems to offer a solution of Cisco Unified Communications on an iPhone, I need three different and is applications is no longer quite as unified.

    Thank you

    Mark

Conclusions you drew on the product names are correct. They are transitioning to Jabber like a brand name, but it did not in the iOS VoIP client yet. The most recent Cisco Jabber for Android is the first to include Secure Connect (remote access protected or ensure access transparent, aka). The BU seems characteristic knocking out on a single platform and then replicating them on others before moving on to the next batch of features. I don't have a specific timetable to share but expect customers to iOS updated in the coming months with Secure Connect.

With regard to the separate clients: I can see both sides of this room. The more I use them more, I agree with the decision to keep them separated and cross-launch when necessary. If you think it is consistent with the way the user interacts already with their phone: voice and texting are two separate applications. I suspect that the developers also get some benefits by keeping things more targeted (e.g. less than test whenever they change something). The only downside to this approach is that each app consumes its own tunnel AnyConnect on the SAA.

  • Recommendation for external monitor for 2009 17 "MBP

    Hi all

I would like to get an external monitor for the time where a 17 "display is not quite big enough, but is there a limit on the size I can go? And with a 2009 MBP, would be a 4 k screen work?

The specifications of my MBP is: 17-inch, early 2009, processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB graphics card

I'm happy to find an opportunity that A1082 Apple display 23 ", but maybe I would go a little bigger. Used Apple screens are starting to become a bit expensive when there are more than 23 ", so I consider sacrificing the aesthetics of the product and get a monitor not Apple to about 27"... could anyone recommend any specific model?

I will mostly use the screen for the design work (InDesign) and surf, so that I don't do high range editing, I'd still like the colors to be accurate enough.

    Any help is appreciated!

the resolution maximum support from outside is 2560 by 1600, the resolution of the movie screen 30 inch apple.

  • External Flash

I have a Canon EOS T3i and shoot in automatic mode.  My indoor photos appear to be yellowish.  Would an external flash and if so what model

There are really two different questions here:

    (1) will Flash help with domestic plans?

    (2) why are the yellowish inner planes?

Let's talk about the first "yellowish" problem.

I'll guess that your inner planes have traditional incandescent lighting (tungsten filament traditional bulbs).  It is normal that these bulbs turn off a rather decidedly yellow/orange color cast.

You can adjust the white balance to highlight "tungsten" (icon looks like a typical bulb).  But don't forget to change it when you are finished or outdoor photos eventually you are looking for a lot too blue.  You can use the "custom white balance" to fix as well (custom white balance is to take a picture of a neutral grey card, which is held in the same light you intend to shoot in.)  When you take the custom white balance, it will ask for the reference image, you take this picture of the gray card, and the camera adjusts the white balance to neutralize any color cast caused by light.  There are tutorials and videos from YouTube to show how to do.)

    Now on the flash...

A lightning bolt has a "color temperature" designed to match daylight (outdoor light).  A wobbly thing happens when you mix "daylight" with "tungsten".  If the flash looks "white" while any traditional incandescent lighting will look especially orange.  If you set a to remove white balance, then these lamps will look normal, but your flash light will seem 'cool' and blue.

The "fix" is to use what is called a 'CTO freeze' on the flash.  CTO stands for "Orange Color Temperature.  The color gel (you just piece of tape on the front of the flash) colors in the light of the flash to match the color of the lights.  Then, when you set the camera to use "tungsten" white balance, the whole scene seems normal.

You can do a Google search for "flash CTO gels" and find a lot of information but also of companies that sell gels.

Canon Speedlite new 600EX-RT comes with a gel of the CTO and darker orange gel (which approximates the color of the light of the Sun in the Sun).

Sometimes I think that everyone should have a flash speedlite external flash.  There are two or three issues with the built-in flashes.

First... they tend to not be very big and not very powerful.  They are good for distances of about 10' work... maybe 12' - but also they do not have the power to illuiminate a large surface.

Second... they are not bent or diffuse light.  When the light comes from the same direction as the lens of the camera, he's hiding all the shadows.  For the great light, you actually want shadow.  Shadows allow three-dimensional objects show their dimensionality.  Textures look "flat" when there is no shadows.  In addition, it is a source of tiny pin-point so it doesn't create soft diffused light (diffused light is a light that seems to come from a large area - not a point source).

Third... light has a problem of 'falling' (made all of the light).  As the distance of the light source increases, the light spreads.  The rate at which it spans East called the "inverse square law' and it applies to many things in addition to light.  But the inverse square law says that the light will effectively become half as brilliant whenever the distance from the source at a rate of increase.  This rate is based on the square root of 2 (which is a number very close to 1.4).

Suppose you have a topic to 5' of light.  He gets an amount of light and you put the exposure for a beautiful display with this light at that distance.  An object that is 1.4 times as far (which would be) 7' would get HALF as much light.  An object 1.4 times further than (10') would get half as much again (or 1/8th).  14' is half as much again (1/16th) and 20' he 1/32nd as much light.

If you "bounce" the light on the ceiling, then everything is raining down from above... There is always a problem of fall, but it will be not so drastically due to the new path taken by light.   You will get a room that is a little more uniform light.  But the built-in pop-up flash can not be put in the ceiling to "bounce" the light.  A flash mounted on external shoe has a head that can be tilted up to "bounce" the shot - and they tend to be much more powerful.

Today I use 600EX-RT Speedlite flashes, but I own and have widely used the 430EX II and it is a large workhorse flash in a nice sized package.
