Microsoft Essentials of Norton360?
Hello.
Three questions please.
(1) my Norton360 subscription runs out quickly. If I download Microsoft Essentials, it will protect my computer as effectively as has Norton360?
Quick scans about 2) and analysis of the entire system... Is there a difference between the scans I get if I download msert.exe (Microsoft Security Scanner) and the scans that I get when I use Windows Defender?
(3) can you recommend any safe and effective Computer/FREE registry cleaners?
Thank you all.
David.

Not 'as effective', but much more effectively. In my opinion, and
many others of us here, Norton, despite its popularity, is
Among the * more * possible choice.
If I were you, I wouldn't wait your Norton subscription
at the end. Replace with Microsoft Security Essentials now.

(3) can you recommend any safe and effective Computer/FREE registry cleaners?
N ° none of them are safe, and none are effective. I would highly recommend
that avoid you them like the plague.
Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.
The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
It can have.

and also

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.
The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
good deal.

Sage pay does not work under Microsoft Essentials
I was using Norton 360, but he got a bug and refused to fix it yourself = changed to Microsoft Essentials. Since when the Sage payroll refuses to start, which is somewhat a disappointment!
Any ideas / help would be appreciated
Thank you
Hello
1. What is the version of the operating system installed on your computer?
2 Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) works fine?
3. what happens when you try to run Sage pay list?
4. do you get an error message? If Yes, what is the exact full error message?
5. are you able to access Sage pay after you disable the MSE?
If you use windows 7 or on Windows Vista, try these methods:
Method 1:
Perform the clean boot and check.
To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Please note: After troubleshooting, be sure to start your computer in normal mode by following step 7.Method 2:
You can also temporarily disable the security software and check if the problem persists. Be sure to enable this security software on the computer after checking.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
If disabling the security software solves the problem, then contact the manufacturer of the specific security software to fix the problem.
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Hope the above information is helpful.

PC became very very slow after installing Microsoft essentials and upgraded to the latest
After I installed and update Microsoft essentials, my pc has become very very slow, Microsoft XP Professional. Please help correct, this will drive me up the WALL higher. Thanx
No AV program is 100% foolproof, but I love MSE, and I run it on my xp system. Having two AV programs running at the same time is the cause of conflict and slow down your computer. You must make a choice on which you prefer and uninstall the other. If you decide to choose MSE, download a free copy of Malwarebytes AV to use as a backup scanner. then run MSE for real-time protection.

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/win-services/XP/wscsvc.reg

When everything is done, Logoff and restart Windows.
Then, run a manual check for updates in Windows Update, etc, etc...
When you get to Windows Update, a custom scan updates. Take (accept) those marked critical or Important.
If it has updates Silverlight or Net Framework, select not them and leave it for one pass later.
Those that are marked as "optional" decline.
Have infinite patience so that it scans and it's work.
When you are prompted to restart Windows, please do. Allow it to restart. -

I think I was the subject of some kind of attack in line on Friday night. I am the only user on this pc but I created another account as administrator I read somewhere it was safer to work that way! I have always relied on Microsoft Security Essentials, but as shown in the following, I may need to use anything else.
In my second account - (the one I use all the time) - I ran scan Microsoft Safety who gave me the fire. I updated Microsoft Essentials and run - everything is OK. So the free version of Malwarebytes anti-malware and upward came "Trojan.Dropper. Malwarebytes anti-malware quarantined it & then I deleted it. I ran it again the Microsoft Scanner and still nothing. I started to uninstall all the programs that I have not used for a few months and during one of the removals, appears Malware Bytes to say that he had taken Trojan.Killav. So I dealt with that. I ran the scanner from Microsoft again and again once he gave me the fire. But I'm not alone - metaphorically speaking - on this pc. What should I do, please?

After installing microsoft essentials turn se computer
I have install microsoft essentials anti virus etc successfully, it will then run a quick check and finance 3 viruses and delete everything. Then it reboot bt itself. Now I can't go to any browser, restart the computer itself, it shows some quick blue screen and reboot.
Hi muhammedkhan,
· What happens when you try to access any browser on the computer?
It is possible that the infection by the virus is completely removed from the computer. I suggest that you start the computer in safe mode with network mode and later perform a full scan using Microsoft security essentials or Microsoft Security Scanner and check if it helps.

Replacement of the other with Microsoft Essentials security programs
I need to be convinced that the removal of my Norton internet security and its replacement by Microsoft Essentials are a good idea. How do they compare? Make ME all that makes Norton? Help, please.
Why do you "need to be convinced? I don't consider my work to convince them that nothing, but I don't mind give you my opinion. Most of the technicians that I know and I did not recommend Norton for many years. The last good version was 2003 Norton Antvirus and it was 7 years ago. IMO the only security solution worse than Norton's McAfee. Bloated, invasive and ineffective. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast, Avira or MS Security Essentials if you want something for free instead. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I have Windows 7, with Microsoft Essentials virus Control, Speedy PC Pro, and (here's the program in question) now Malwarebytes (it was recommended by "Advance Tech Support", covered by "secure basket"). I'm PC illiterate for the most part, so I ask you, is compatible with all malwarebytes the I have and like you? My PC has just informed mw that that is not to say it is compatible with Windows xp 2. Also says something about (Mbam)?
Please help me.
MBAM is compatible and should install OK in Windows 7.
Any ditch SpeedyPC, unnecessary and potentially dangerous. Do not believe that the marketing hype Windows 7 registry does not 'clean '.
