  • !!! BEWARE OF A SCREEN BLUE (WHEN YOU START YOUR SYSTEM) WITH A LONG QUESTION. WE HAVE ONLY 10 SECONDS TO RESPOND AND REACT TO THE! Somebody has hacked my system / do I have a virus?

    Hi all

Basically, several months ago I noticed something strange on my computer - I know that I should have acted immediately - my Task Manager has been "disabled by Administrator [my]". Yet, I am the administrator!

Secondly, I lit my system yesterday and was immediately welcomed with a pale blue screen with lots of white, writing, that says, ' we recommend strongly you do not press "ENTER"...? If you do and you want to move before the expiry of the period...? " However, in time, that I tried to browse what was in front of me (that I was unable to catch everything), a 10 sec period had expired and many more white/numbers/text symbols suddenly started flowing to the bottom of my screen (for 15-20 seconds-from left to right)! In addition, my turn makes an unusual noise - as serious an alert! Immediately after, my system loaded up as usual!

So, I opened the Start Menu (after I restarted my computer to activate the Safe Mode) and the arrow keys has / not working -I can't navigate upwards or downwards to select one of the options! Yet, they have worked perfectly any other time since - just not in Start Menu! Then, I scanned with Windows Defender and nothing has found summer - my "system is safe."

Third, since then, I've noticed that my system (Windows XP) ran much more slowly too - informed the script is busy, plug-ins are insensitive, etc. - and the/things are / dragged across the screen! Therefore, I searched the forum and help guide to Firefox for everything that seemed similar and came across an instance of another person things 'slide' with a slow system, who suspects a virus! So, I followed the advice given to them - reset Firefox and download a "10 days free Microsoft Virus Scanner" (recorded under msert.exe); He set off to search for more than 9 hours, which found nothing/no infected files!

Finally, for all that, I can not use system restore or reset Firefox! I never pressed ENTER when the message appeared - do you think I should be?

I know that my version of Windows has expired and I plan to update very soon, but do not want to lose all the vital files. So, I am currently the backup copies.

All this activity may be connected? Or would it be different things are happening? And also, please could someone perhaps shed light on what happened or if they can help somehow? I would be VERY grateful.

    Thank you very much

    Bruce.

Since we have not heard from you lately, I will go ahead and tell you how to fix your problem disabled Task Manager (and probably a few other things):

Basically, when you see these errors, the usual advice is something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that advice really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor (unless it's really good advice).

Basically, you need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that may have been disabled.

Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove (like Task Manager), the malware disables the things you tend to use and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the registry editor, System Restore and the command prompt, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

You can also manually create a system restore point before you make these adjustments.

Open Notepad (and only Notepad) to create a new text file:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    notebook

Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

Copy and paste the following lines in BOLD text into the new Notepad file:

Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

    enableit.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose merge or open with... and select the registry editor or import.

Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

Reboot your system and test to make sure the changes 'stick '.

You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

If the registry editor has also been disabled, you will see a message like this:

Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator.

We must therefore first difficulty (not a problem).

Click Start, run, and in the type box (or just copy / paste the entire order in the window run more safe) the following text:

    reg delete HKCU/v DisableRegistryTools/f

Then see if regedit behaves (of course it will be).

  • Exe to install Microsoft has stopped working.

Hello. I'm running Windows Vista 64. I try to install the game of Microsoft Age of Empires 2 and the installation program runs completely towards the end, then the message ' Autorun/setup of Microsoft has stopped working. This happens when I try to install any game.

I also waiting for updates to download and install, and everytime I try, it starts to install the update and then I get the same error at the end of the installation. I scanned my whole PC for any virus threats and found nothing. I also tried a "clean boot" as I saw suggested on these forums and that has not worked either. Any help would be appreciated.

Try right click on the actual Setup.exe and choosing the option "Run As Administrator"?  Perform, even if your user name is an administrator.

Have you tried to clean your Temp folder, you can do this by typing folder in the Start Menu RUN box.  This will open your Temp folder, there, you can remove all Windows will allow you to do.

It may be necessary to show both hidden and system files and also uncheck 'Hide known file types' in Control Panel / folder Options / view to navigate to the mentioned location of Temp.

Sometimes other software, especially security type programs, can interfere with your facilities.

"About MSDN or TechNet product key
They are genuine Microsoft product keys, they are in fact retail licenses, but it is expected for a product specific Microsoft Software Developer Network (MSDN) and TechNet channel for professionals who pay a subscription. The main objective is for evaluation purposes. The big thing to their subject, unlike Microsoft, MSDN or TechNet keys evaluation software expires. Because the agreement by virtue of which the subscription is provided is a single license, none of the software should be distributed outside of it. Although its $50,000 worth of licenses, it is for one person only for use and no one else. Unfortunately, no matter the conditions of license, people still abuse of the program, two key product gift or sell on auction sites. Microsoft it issues licences in good faith that customer will not do it, but I guess human nature win on.

In your case, what has probably happened is, you bought a license MSDN key, which carries up to 10 activations unlike packed full of retail licenses which carry 1 activation. The person who sold it to you probably sold to 10 other people. Somewhere along the way, one of these people could have installed on a second system activated, because it went past 10 activation threshold, Microsoft has detected that he was abused and blocked the key for later use. »

  • Microsoft has a better record cleaner?

In Windows 7 I have a disc cleaner which is not very effective. Microsoft has a better? Why should I clean manually %temp%. Sometimes, I have to do each one individually.

If you're talking about the Temp folder in the Windows folder, I do not think that disk cleanup
deals with this issue. The Temp folder is more likely to have files that are used, which can not be deleted at the time these files to the user------AppData \ Temp folder.
[EDIT: I just typed folder in the search bar, and it seems that you were referring to that]
    [user------AppData \ Temp folder]

Even in this case, disk cleanup deletes all files user------AppData \ Temp folder.
Maybe because Windows is still considered viable, but I did have a problem manually
delete all files from the user-AppData-Temp file myself - something that has always been difficult
with XP because it always seemed to want to stand on a number of files in this folder.
While the files in the Temp folder can sometimes cause problems, it is not really necessary to manually delete everything as far as the performance of the system are concerned. Disk Cleanup is usually a good
enough job regarding the 'cleansing' of the Temp folder in this regard.

Anyway – CCleaner is a popular software to do more full disc "cleanings".

Yes, the collection clears all of the C drive and you will lose your files. The solution would be to backup regularly to an external HARD drive and after the key one to also restore the files from the external hard drive.
