!!! BEWARE OF A SCREEN BLUE (WHEN YOU START YOUR SYSTEM) WITH A LONG QUESTION. WE HAVE ONLY 10 SECONDS TO RESPOND AND REACT TO THE! Somebody has hacked my system / do I have a virus?

Hi all

Basically, several months ago I noticed something strange on my computer - I know that I should have acted immediately - my Task Manager has been "disabled by Administrator [my]". Yet, I am the administrator!

Secondly, I lit my system yesterday and was immediately welcomed with a pale blue screen with lots of white, writing, that says, ' we recommend strongly you do not press "ENTER"...? If you do and you want to move before the expiry of the period...? " However, in time, that I tried to browse what was in front of me (that I was unable to catch everything), a 10 sec period had expired and many more white/numbers/text symbols suddenly started flowing to the bottom of my screen (for 15-20 seconds-from left to right)! In addition, my turn makes an unusual noise - as serious an alert! Immediately after, my system loaded up as usual!

So, I opened the Start Menu (after I restarted my computer to activate the Safe Mode) and the arrow keys has / not working -I can't navigate upwards or downwards to select one of the options! Yet, they have worked perfectly any other time since - just not in Start Menu! Then, I scanned with Windows Defender and nothing has found summer - my "system is safe."

Third, since then, I've noticed that my system (Windows XP) ran much more slowly too - informed the script is busy, plug-ins are insensitive, etc. - and the/things are / dragged across the screen! Therefore, I searched the forum and help guide to Firefox for everything that seemed similar and came across an instance of another person things 'slide' with a slow system, who suspects a virus! So, I followed the advice given to them - reset Firefox and download a "10 days free Microsoft Virus Scanner" (recorded under msert.exe); He set off to search for more than 9 hours, which found nothing/no infected files!

Finally, for all that, I can not use system restore or reset Firefox! I never pressed ENTER when the message appeared - do you think I should be?

I know that my version of Windows has expired and I plan to update very soon, but do not want to lose all the vital files. So, I am currently the backup copies.

All this activity may be connected? Or would it be different things are happening? And also, please could someone perhaps shed light on what happened or if they can help somehow? I would be VERY grateful.

Thank you very much

Bruce.

Since we have not heard from you lately, I will go ahead and tell you how to fix your problem disabled Task Manager (and probably a few other things):

Basically, when you see these errors, the usual advice is something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that advice really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor (unless it's really good advice).

Basically, you need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that may have been disabled.

Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove (like Task Manager), the malware disables the things you tend to use and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the registry editor, System Restore and the command prompt, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

You can also manually create a system restore point before you make these adjustments.

Open Notepad (and only Notepad) to create a new text file:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

notebook

Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

Copy and paste the following lines in BOLD text into the new Notepad file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"DisableTaskMgr" = -.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"DisableRegistryTools" = -.

"DisableCAD" = DWORD: 00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
"DisableConfig" = -.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
"DisableSR" = -.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRun" = -.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSetTaskbar" = -.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoControlPanel" = -.

Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

enableit.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose merge or open with... and select the registry editor or import.

Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

Reboot your system and test to make sure the changes 'stick '.

You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

If the registry editor has also been disabled, you will see a message like this:

Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator.

We must therefore first difficulty (not a problem).

Click Start, run, and in the type box (or just copy / paste the entire order in the window run more safe) the following text:

reg delete HKCU/v DisableRegistryTools/f

Then see if regedit behaves (of course it will be).

    First of all, note that you should be concerned all the programs
    starts automatically, not only those who enter in the system tray.
    Not all the programs auto-start manifesting by an icon in the
    Status bar.

    On each program, you don't want to automatically start, check its
    Options to see if he has the choice of not start (make sure you)
    Indeed choose not to run, not just a "don't show icon.
    Optional). Many can easily and better be arrested like that. If that is not
    work, run MSCONFIG from the start. Run the line, and then click the Startup tab.
    Uncheck the programs that you do not want to automatically start.

    However, if I were you, I wouldn't do it just for the application of
    the minimum number of running programs. Despite what many people say
    You should be concerned, not with the way that a lot of these programs
    you run, but who. Some of them can degrade performance severely, but
    others have no effect on performance.

    Don't stop all programs to run willy-nilly. What you need to do
    is to determine what each program is, what its value is up to you which
    the performance cost is its running all the time. You can try
    Internet search and ask questions about the details here.

    Once you have this information, you can make a smart informed
    decision on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of.

    VIsta - Local access only

    HI -.
    I recently moved.   I use the same router from my old apartment and I had no problem connection in the past.   Since I moved I have a new Time Warner modem (Cisco) and the modem works fine.

    The router also works very well I'm able to connect with my iPhone and IPad without any problem.

    But when I try to connect with my wireless laptop, it will only connect to Local access.    If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    It's a Dell Studio 15 with Vista.

    The computer is able to connect to wifi to other places without any problem, but for some reason that I can't connect home.   I tried to reset the modem and the router several times, but that did not help.   I tried the option repair & diagnose several times but it doesn't work.

    I tried to look for other solutions online and tried to disable IPv6, and while it helped some and I was able to connect wireless, the computer ran so slowly that it didn't seem like a good solution.

    This has been very frustrating.   Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

    Technically, since it's the same effect with the same settings, it works on both sizes. However, you need to test both is to decide if it will appear visually correct on both screens or not. On screens more wider/taller objects can appear earlier on the screen, it is advised to test again on both screens.

  • Error on screen blue/black (cannot start pc)

    In the middle of the day that my pc everything went black without reason... by the time I could still hear people talking about other software, and they could hear me fine. I restarted my computer, but when he started upward I got was a black screen with colored horizontal lines. Whenever I try to start my pc it does this or is a blue screen that has repair options. On the repair options, I try to restore my PC, but it requires a password for my account profile computers that I disabled the past few months. I also try to reset my pc everything but it says "Insert your installation or windows recovery media" who am I to all too well. but I tried to put the windows disk 8 in which he refused to take.

    Help, please!

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    According to the description of the problem, I understand that your computer has become suddenly black and now in any start-up situation with the blue screen repair option, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Blue screen (sometimes referred to as errors or errors of STOP code black screen) errors occur if a serious problem, windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly. You might see a message that says: "Windows was arrested to avoid damaging your computer."

    To better understand this issue, I would like to know the following information:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    2 did you receive an error message before the computer went black?
    3. did you of recent changes to the computer before this problem?
    4. are you not able to start on the screen?
    5. When you say "I tried to put the windows disk 8 in which he refused to take", is the DVD drive on the computer that works well or not the same bed on another computer in Windows 8 support?

    When you say "on the repair options, I try to restore my PC but it requires a password for my account profile computers that I have disabled months ago" I suggest you try the enter without specifying a password and check if it allows to connect to the user profile that you have disabled the password long ago.

    If you are not able to connect with the system restore without entering the password, and since you're telling the DVD of Windows 8 refuse to take, I suggest you to create recovery USB Windows 8 media and then try to repair the computer.

    Create a recovery USB disk

    Method 1: Auto repair:

    (a) when your computer starts, wait for the logo of the manufacturer check the option of start menu, it will usually F12.
    (b) the start menu key can be different with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the start menu button, you can consult the user manual.
    (c) restarts the computer, when you see the logo of the manufacturer, continue to press the Boot option menu key to enter the boot menu and change the option to boot in DVD ROM.
    (d) once you start your computer by using Windows 8 DVD or system repair disc, a black screen is displayed with the gray text "press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press a button on any.
    (e) select the exact time and the type of keyboard.
    (f) click on repair your computer in the lower left corner
    (g) click on troubleshooting, advanced option and then click on auto repair.

    Method 2: If the method above to perform the automatic repair does not help, I suggest to follow the article below and try to run the system restore.

    Resolution of errors blue screen in Windows

    System restore warning: when you use the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
