Microsoft Live Mail settings?

When I first came to this computer, I have install Windows Live Mail but anyway all the news wiped out and because I have Yahoo as my ISP, there is no pop3.etc. info which can be provided in the e-mail configuration because a) you don't pay for it, so b) no real Customer Service.  I tried to ask how to set up POP3 and SMTP to yahoo or our phone (AT & T) wireless system, but nobody seems to have the right address for these two items which need these codes to route messages.

Someone else have Yahoo as their e-mail and know POP3 & SMTP addresses?  Or I'm supposed to be using AT & T because we have a stationary router in the office through their telephone service and I connect wireless Internet through the router?

I am not able to send or receive WIndows Mail because I can't find the right addresses for these functions.  Can someone help me?

Thank you very much

Is there a process to import an address book from Outlook Express or RoadRunner (Time Warner) on a single computer to the Microsoft Live Mail contact list in another computer?

Are you referring to Windows Live Mail?

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

  • I get error messages try to retrieve e-mail using microsoft live mail and windows 7. Error 0x800CCC92, 0x800CCC90

I get error messages try to retrieve e-mail using microsoft live mail and windows 7.  For 6 weeks, no problem, then suddenly the error messages saying my name of user and password is incorrect... This isn't the case.  Here is a copy of the error messages:
Unable to send or receive messages for the Kc.rr (tbrower) (1) account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time that you send or receive messages, you will be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

A Server POP3 locking can occur on the server, if you check the messages without leaving sufficient time between the two controls.  A recommended minimum interval is 5 minutes.

I have the same problem - but so far I have not found a solution! My ISP is Tiscali. If I connect & Download emails from my Tiscali account using the PC of my wife (via Windows Live Mail) all right. If I then try (with your PC off) the same thing on my PC (using the same router) I receive messages if I started the 'cold' PC, but when I downloaded the messages, the POP3 server crashes, causing a blockage of POP3. As a result, I can not any more messages (or send) until I turned off the PC and restarted. I tried to set up a completely new user account and also to move all my emails to a safe place, uninstall Windows Live Mail and then re-install, but neither radical movements has solved the problem. I also tried to switch to Thunderbird, but that didn't fix it either. There is obviously something 'beyond' Windows Live Mail which is not challenged after that the last message was received, which causes the POP3 lock. I hope that someone technical who reads this will know where and what it is and we tell how to fix this!

  • Dbx file large will not import into Microsoft Live Mail

I'm migration of Outlook Express to Microsoft Live Mail - all records were imported fine except the file sent.  It's a large dbx file with 5 k + messages.  Only the oldest 1600 will import.  How to import in its entirety?  I really need the latest messages, not messages in 2008 as well.  Help!

The file is probably corrupted and it may not even have the messages inside.  If you have OE still works, and then try to save again and trying to import from this backup.  Otherwise, if the file contains messages, then DBXpress ( www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/ ) can extract them as individual eml files.  But if the messages are not in the file longer, then nothing can.   DBXpress disc function extract could be used to such cases on the XP practice to try to recover what was lost, if the folder on this drive does not have messages any longer.

  • Conversion of Outlook Express .dbx to Microsoft Live Mail issue box for receiving and sending files conversion

I am able to convert most of my old Outlook Express files to Microsoft Live Mail, with the exception of the Inbox, and send files.   The two files are not empty.  My OS is Windows 7 64 bit.  The 'Files' file is located in the directory with the .dbx files.  Most of the files have been converted except these two.  The converted file sent.

Can advise you on what to do to fix this?  I need the information contained in the Inbox, and send.   I have more access to Outlook Express.

    Best regards, Kat

Unless you left no messages in the Outbox, it must be empty. Messages are just going through there on the way to your mail server.

Folders.dbx is the "brain" of the system of dbx files and contains all the actual messages.

Now regarding the messages from the Inbox, I don't know why they won't matter in Windows Live Mail. You compact the folders in OE before saving the message store? WLMail has great trouble with import of dbx files. How do you backup and transfer the storage of OE with dbx files folder?

If you still have access to the machine with OE, it would be easy to fix. Given that you don't do it, you probably have two options.

If you have professional, enterprise or ultimate edition, you can use OE in XP Mode. Who can import all the messages and then we can transfer it to WLMail.

If you cannot use the XP Mode, and can not find an OE to 'borrow' to a friend, you will need a recovery tool. Unfortunately, it is not free.

  • After the Microsoft Live Mail connection, how can I keep everything to be always visible?

When the Microsoft Windows Live Mail logging, all my emails are still visible when I open the program again.  How can I keep it so nothing is visible until I sign in and not visible once I have disconnect?

This isn't a feature of this program.  Logging out (or with another program) is your only option to lock out of sight.

Or you can remove the program from mail entirely and just go to the site to read your mail.  Then when you log out and close the web browser, they are not accessible without password.

  • How to open a link that was received in an e-mail usung microsoft live mail

I received a number of emails with a link to something else. When I click on that link a box pops up saying "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, or if it is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. "I n 't know how to proceed.  I use Windows 7. Help, please.

    Thank you

    Lanny Fraizer

If the links do not open a browser window to the referenced page, then this is the browser's file/protocol associations that are confused. I suggest that you (re-) represent Internet Explorer as default browser:
    1. The default type in the start search box, and select default programs results.
    2. Select set your default programs.
    3. In the left pane, select Internet Explorer.
    4. At the foot of the page, click set this program as default.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Select to set the default settings for the access and the computer program.
    7. Select custom , and then click the chevrons pointing to extend the selection.
    8. Under choose a default browser, select Internet Explorer.
    9. For other browsers you use, select enable access to this program .
    10. Click OK, and then restart the computer.
Now try to click a link in an e-mail. If it still does not work, please describe in detail what is happening, including the full text of the error message.

    Hi Bruce,.

This might have caused due to any related issue of parameters. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

Sometimes, when e mail arrives, it is placed only in quick view.

If I go over it so/unread symbol turns to the 'read' or to open and read, but if I'm not moving manually as e mail to the regular in the box, Windows Live Mail AUTOMATICALLY DELETED and I can't find anywhere - just WENT-* poof *.  :(

Thank you. You read your mail on a mobile device - smartphone or Tablet? If so, whatever you do messages about this device can be reproduced at the level of the server, and then in Windows Live Mail next time you access the account. That's how IMAP works.

In regard to not being not able to find a message after reading it in the filters.

    • Click on the account name in the folders pane, and then press Alt-S F to open the Show/Hide IMAP folders dialog. Click Reset list to refresh the list of files, and then use the buttons to display only the records you want. Note the exact names of the folders for drafts, sent messages, spam and deleted messages.
    • Right-click on the account name in the folders pane, and then select Properties. Tab IMAP, select store special on the IMAP, server files , and then enter the server names for special folders that you noted down earlier in the corresponding boxes.
    • When you view your list of messages, press Ctrl-Shift-O for Options. On the Advanced tab, select use the 'deleted items' folder for IMAP accounts.
