  We are currently under Vista Home Premium w / svc pack 2 on an HP Compaq.  The computer easily exceeds the Win 10 system requirements!

  We also HP released discs to upgrade to Win 7 operating system (which we did not).  We'll have to switch to Win 7 in order to get the 10 free win?

  HP upgrade instructions say Win 7 OS is an upgrade and Microsoft product key on our computer will still remain for the Vista operating system.

  Disks have proof by Microsoft tag license (product key) on them.  Will be us always qualify for free Win 10?

  the upgrade to windows 10 would be provided for computers running only Windows 7,8.1.

  Try to disable your temporary security software and try to download the tool Upgrade Advisor. If this does not work then put the system in a clean boot and see if the problem still occurs.
