Microsoft on Windows account 8

I have a PC running Windows 8.1 and connect with my Microsoft account. I will install Windows 8 t on a laptop. Can I use the same account to connect to it or set up another account

John

This works.

Just keep in mind that if you buy an app in the store Windows, it is associated with the account that you bought with. If you want to use on PC and laptop, you can buy twice. If you use the same account on two, applications will be available on both systems with a single purchase necessary. All you have to do is buy once and it is available to download and use on any of your Windows systems.

I have a tower, a laptop and a Surface and can use the same apps on all three, because I use the same account from Microsoft on all three systems.

It is not a problem if you use only free apps, but something to think about if you have those you paid for.

You can't do a upgrade direct from Home Premium to Ultimate, you can use the upgrade Express by using the product key existing.

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

    Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade fails:

If your getting the following: error: Windows Anytime Upgrade failed

If Anytime Upgrade still does not work:

Shut down and restart your computer.

Make sure that the Windows updates have been installed.

If Anytime Upgrade still does not work, turn off the user account control:

    1. go in user accounts in Control Panel

2 change user account control settings

    3. pull the slider to the level as low as possible

    4. restart the PC

    5. pass by the "Anytime Upgrade" as usual

    Try the following:

1 disable any security software before attempting to upgrade

    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)

    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.

    4. check your hard disk for errors:

    Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

    Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

  • How to connect to windows 8 without a windows account?

I was able to help a few people with their win8 configuration and had TO create a LIVE windows for respective users account.  How win8 users can take total possession of their computer without having to create a LIVE account?

Although the above post is great, especially if you want to create a new 'local' account, in my view, is not the best answer to your question.

Lets start at the first installation. On several computers, the default option says to create an account, called from Microsoft. When you are on this screen, near the bottom, there is an option that allows you to create an account without a Microsoft account. After pressing this option, the next screen will give you two choices, create Microsoft then use or create the local account. The option you are looking for is to create a local account. A local account is not linked to what anyone and it's like an account on any previous version of windows.
Now, if you already have a Microsoft account is created, you can simply switch to a local account.
    Here's how.
    1) pull up the menu charms by moving your cursor over one of the right hand corners. The cursor must be completely in the corner and won't be visible. Or the easiest, is to press the windows key and the c key at the same time.
    (2) select the settings options.
    (3) now, click on the text at the bottom that says "change PC settings."
    (4) on the screen that appears, select the users in the left part. By default, the user you are connected as a poster.  A bit of the top, you will see the option that says "Switch to local accounts."
    (5) follow the instructions that popup. Once you have done the above, your account is now a normal windows account.
There are advantages to having a Microsoft account, but I don't know how frustrating it can be to go through the long process of creating a windows account when you simply want to connect and play with the new computer.
PM me or post back if there is something that is not clear.
    I hope this helps.

  • Windows 8 local account hijacked, nobody has their private Windows account

I got a computer at work that is open for many people to use. We have an administrator account, which is password protected, and a 'local' account without password, which is available for other employees and customers access. This account has limits so that whenever there is an attempt to change the settings, install something, etc., a box will appear asking for the administrator password to proceed.

Today, I discovered that the local account is gone, and someone's personal account of Windows took his place, with their profile photo and e-mail. I can not log in because it is protected from their personal password. It seems that, in the account without password, a user may have changed the account to be local to sync with their Windows account.
First, my question is how does this happen without asking the administrator password? What can I do to prevent it happening again?
Second, is there a way to change this account to being local, without having the password of this Windows user? This account has installed programs and settings, which would be very annoying to need to go through setting up again. As an administrator, how to enter this account to remove the password and return to a local account?
Thanks in advance for any help! :)

    Hi, Crimson,

I tried to reproduce this problem on my computer, and here's what I did.

-A local account(without a password) and account administrator (with a password).

-J' have been able to change the local account on behalf of Microsoft (with a password) without any administrator password prompt.

    - Then I tried to connect to the administrator account. Go to the computer management window (in the run line, type compmgmt.msc and press enter), select local users and accounts , and then click users.

-Click right to the account that has been changed on behalf of Microsoft and click on delete.

-The account has been deleted, and I was able to create a new user account.

Note: You will not be able to remove the password on the account, unless you connect through this account.

Since you do not want to give administrative privileges to a user account, here's what you can try.

-In the line run , type compmgmt.msc , and then press on enter.

-Go to local users and groups and then click users.

-On the empty space, click on select new user.

-Enter a user name, place a check on the user cannot change the password , and click create.

-Once the new user account is created, right-click on it and click Properties.

-Select the tab Member of , and then click Add.

    - Guests and press ok.

-You will have two entries in the Member of list. Select users , and then click Remove.

-Restart the computer and log on the new user account.

This user account will have guest privileges. He will ask an administrator password whenever he tries to change the settings.

Hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let us know.

  • Which is better to have several user accounts from window for the same person, so having much Firefoxes or have much Firefoxes under a Windows account user?

Right now I have about 6 window user accounts (just for me on a single computer) because I didn't know I could put more Firefox then one per account. I leave the tabs upward when I close Firefox, because if I just bookmarks I won't finish my work I was doing with these sites. Now that I know how to put multiple Firefoxes under a user account. That would make my computer fast or not, it matter if I put all my Firefoxes on a window user account or have 6 windows user accounts, each with their own Firefox?
    -Thank you

It is more work to move to a different Windows account and then open another instance of Firefox with a different profile.
If you only use other windows accounts for the use of Firefox like this and not for any other purpose, then there is nothing against the passage to a single Windows account to make it easier to manage such things as the backup of your personal data or copy data between the other profiles.

So, it's up to you if you want to switch to a single Windows account.

I get automatic updates from Microsoft and Windows.

    VIC Luci

    Yes.

What are the differences between Windows updates and automatic updates from Microsoft Updates?

While Windows Update provides updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live [as well as Silverlight & Microsoft Security Essentials]. Update automatic is a feature that allows you to configure your PC to automatically download and install updates using each service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your current Windows PC.
