Microsoft Word Pad upgrade to Microsoft Word

Recently, I loaded Microsoft Office with Word in my computer. Now when I try to open previous documents that were sent by e-mail, it opens it in Microsoft Word Pad. How can I prevent the documents to open in Microsoft Word, but now in Microsoft Word? Please help ASAP

Right-click on the document and choose 'Open with' then click 'chose the default program.  Click on the desired program, then check the box that says always use this program to open these files.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

Yes. However, methods available depend on what program you have installed.

    For example

If Word is installed: open the document in Word Pad and save to RTF. Open the document saved in Word and re - save in Word format.

You may not install or use programs in the windows.old folder

MS Office is not provided with any version of win, although the origonal PC manufacturer may have included a trial version.

You must install the origonal program installation media programs and activate with this key programs.

Probably at some stage, you bought a version of MS Office and that is the case you would have the Office key

Navigate the folder windows.old to Programs\MS Office, find winword.exe, and then check the properties/details, what is the product name & Version of the file?

  • Microsoft Word constantly crashing in El Capitan

Is 10.11.6 has finally solved the problem that El Capitan does not seem able to support a fundamental piece of software widely used as MS Word?

I'm so frustrated that every OS X the so called 'upgrade' to date has made this problem worse, not better.

This last 'upgrade' solves the problem, does anyone know? Any advice?

    TIA.

FWIW, it's Microsoft to write their software to run on OSX. Not the other way around.

I followed your suggestion, but when he asks what to use to open the doc it gives two choices, 'Word' and 'other '.
Where is the 'other' and 'Browse' you suggest?

See pictures attached - they are for the pdf, but 'The other' and 'Browse' the options are the same.

    Location should be here:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office15\Winword.exe
Note: If you use a 64-bit version of Windows with the 32-bit version of Office, the default location includes (x 86) in the path.
    for example: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Office\root\Office15\Winword.exe

However, if you open an another doc word received by email, it is likely that Matt is correct and the word attachment document has been corrupted somehow by scan before opening.

  • Error message Microsoft Word "Word could not create the work file. Check the amount of disk space on your startup disk. »

I have a MacBook Pro, retina 13inch OS X el Capitan Version 10.11.1 with 16 GB of memory. It's brand new and I have recently installed Microsoft Word/Powerpoint etc. a disc that I bought a few years to my previous MacBook. It seems to work very well, but whenever I want to open a word document a message comes up saying "Word could not create the work file. Check the amount of disk space on your startup disk '. However, once I click 'OK' this message disappears and my word file opens without a problem. I have 16 GB of memory on this laptop and it's new I have not reached anywhere near the maximum amount of storage so I'm puzzled as to what this message means. How can I avoid that this message popping up everytime I open Microsoft Word? Any help would be appreciated!

This has nothing to do with memory - it's the SSD. Word tries to create a temporary file to use as a backup if the program crashes while you are working. First, run the Microsoft Update program to see if there are updates you have missed. Second, Microsoft currently supports only versions 2011 and 2016, so if yours is older, you should consider the upgrade. Thirdly, I suspect that the temporary file is not get created so that you have fewer cancellations (maybe any) and that if the program crashes you have to restore.

  • Mouse don't work in Microsoft Word to select text, or highlight text to copy or add features like bold/italic/underlined.

After you paste an e-mail message in a Microsoft Word document (which I do all the time), my mouse no longer works to click anywhere in the document and it doesn't allow me to use the side scroll bar.  I can still click on the tabs and controls to the top of the page buttons up and down and up, but I can't highlight text underlined/bold/italic to copy or move in the document.  I use these features all the time and I am very frustrated.  I can still do all of these things in other applications such as email, Facebook, Internet, but not in Word.  Help, please.  I already checked my mouse settings and drivers and they are all up to date without errors.  I restarted my computer; the only step I can think is reinstall Microsoft Office Professional 2007.  I appreciate any help you can provide.  Respectfully, Julie

Word is not provided free of charge with the Vista operating system.

You buy Word, which is part of the office, separately.

  • Microsoft Word has disappeared from my computer, how do I get it back?

I bought a netbook with a reduced version of Windows 7. I bought 7 Edition widows Home premium and had no problems so far. Microsoft Word suddenly disappeared and I can't access any of My Documents or open. I tried a point to restore and reinstall Windows 7 but even when Word has not been restored. What can I do?

What version of Office Word was it?  If it's 2010, do you have anything to this place -

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Office\Office14

Was the Windows 7 Home Premium, a new installation or an upgrade of the 'choke '?  A clean install would not save installed programs.

If you do not have Word on your computer you will need to install it again, which would require you to buy if you have not all the files of configuration or CD

Some manufacturers will offer a basic edition of Microsoft Office, called Office Starter 2010, which includes the only versions of Word and Excel 2010 database.

It does include other applications such as PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher. If you need additional programs, you can upgrade Office Starter 2010 in one of the suites such as Microsoft Office Home and Student, home and business or professional premium edition.

You can make the purchase of in Word or Excel Starter editions too. Just run two programs and click on the button buy under the Home tab.
