• Help! MicrosoftOffice 2011 cannot open the files after the recent update

  After the recent update (security 2015-006, Mac OS 10.10.5, Yosemite), I can longer open all files in Microsoft Excel or Word.

  When I tried to open the files in the "Open recent" list, Excel reports "Excel cannot open the workbook. The file name or path contains invalid characters (for example, /). "Same error message appears when I go into the folder and open the file in Excel.

  When I tried to open an existing file of the word, he pointed out that "this is not a valid file name.

  You try to install the 'click-to-run"of MS Office installation.  That's what trying to create your Q: drive.

  xls files are created by Microsoft Excel program.

  You don't have to have the Microsoft Office Suite installed in order to open xls files.

  All you have to do is Excel Viewer that is designed to open all xls and xlsx files.

  I don't know where you bought it, but look in all your documents and e-mails.  If you bought through Microsoft, log in to your Microsoft Account, and maybe that's where.

  HP retains no record of keys and Microsoft technical support will not help.

  My microsoft office stopped allowing me to open documents of my 'documents '. "When I double click on this Word tries to open but then and error message pops up saying" windows cannot find the name of the file C:\. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. "I am running Windows vista home and student and microsoft offie 2007. I can open word and type and save a document, but when I close and try to reopen the same message comes back and then the window says not respnding and closes.

  Thanks for your help, but I solved the problem, it was my norton antivirus that was causing the problem.

  Remove it by using the uninstall a program in the Control Panel icon, or the programs and features depending on how you have your display of the set up control panel.  It's the safe and effective way to remove any program you want uninstalled from your computer.
