  This sounds like a permission problem.  When I came across a similar problem with Vista, I installed a registry patch that adds a' Take Ownership"option in the context menu to reset the permissions on the files."  Simply right click on a folder you are the difficulties to access to the, (IE C:\Users\YourUserName) and then click "Take Ownership" allows you to access these folders and all subfolders beneath it read/write. This is what solved my problems:

• PE - 10 do not hear the sound files in preview, change or final movie. Works fine outside PE-10.

  When editing a movie, the sound attached to the video files play very well. When I import other audio files (such as wav files), they will not play in the preview, change or final movie. I tested the files to make sure that they are very good (Yes).

  Your best bet would be looking for writers to mp3/wave. There are a few very good freeware/shareware sound there. I suggest this so that you can choose what format you want to save your file cropped as.

  Accidentally, I changed the icon of MIDI files, and I can't change it back. I tried to use the Folder Options, but it does not work. I tried to change file Associations, still no luck.   Right-click on the pasteboard, and you should have a choice of colours from timeline menu.

  I would add that you should have a file to open it or it won't work.
