  Destination server:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1
  • Roles: Files, Hyper-V services (IIS) Web server
  • Discs: C:\(OS) & D:\(VHD Files)

  Information about the conversion:

  • Configuration of the volume: (selected Volumes-C:------, D:\ & disk: Partition 0: 0)
  • "Offline conversion" because of the following warning: disk hardware or the file system on the volume \\?\Volume{2dbb99c1-ba73-11de-97ae-806e6f6e6963}\: is not supported by Volume Shadow Copy Service.

  I don't know what the problem or prevent this from happening. Assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  I am the system administrator for our common developer of test and development environment. In Virtual Center, we deploy our virtual machines of a model that we keep up-to-date. Deploying a VM from a template, you go through a comprehensive step by step process. During one of these steps, you must assign the virtual computer to a logical unit number or the pool. Instead of getting the message "validation succeeded", I get "you do not have the privilege" resource > assign virtual machine to the list of resources. " How can I NOT have this privilege if I'm an administrator at the level of the DATA Center.

  I went through several things to try to mitigate this "privilege", but nothing helps. What can I do else?

  No you don't have to restart the host ESX, VM or VC

  All what you need to do is, click on the 'Download and install' button for the plug-in, complete the Setup Wizard, and once the plug-in has been installed, go to the tab Installed and check the box to activate the plug-in.

  After that, you can use Update Manager and Converter Enterprise.

• Basic Data Center Virtual Clone or snapshot

  I don't know how to do in this regard.

  I don't know if this is possible in ESX 3.5, because I'm in vSphere now.

  Stop your vCenter, point your VI the esx Server that hosts the VM vCenter Client. (root user name and pass) and see if you can use clone.

  It is not a best practice, and yet once again, I'm not sure if this is posible in 3.5.

  But, why not to use SQL Server backup?

  Just deployed the vCSA 5.5 and joined to a Windows domain but I do not see the field to add AD groups because in my view, there is a question hour DST GMT.

  My domain controller Windows are running in UTC with Daylight Saving Time (UTC).  IM in the United Kingdom.

  If I connect directly to an ESXI host using the vSphere Client - time is correct and shows "the dates and times of hospitality have been translated into the local time of the vSphere Client.

  
  

  If I run the command on the Console of the vCSA date, time is one hour behind so out of sync with the domain controllers.  If it was winter, probably all work.

  Can confirm you that you have done the following:

  • Join vCenter Server Appliance to the domain, i.e. the AD object is created in the "Computers" OR
  • Add the AD as an additional Source of identity domain using "Active Directory (Windows integrated authentication)"

  and you can not yet select the domain in the drop-down box when you try to configure permissions?

  We have recently improved our 2.5 Vcenter Vsphere and in the process, it seems that our SQL data was broken somehow.

  We have SQL 2000 installed and the upgrade put us on SQL express 2005 from the disk of VSphere.

  Now, when we get into performance data, we can see only the day 1 time range every time we change for 1 week chart appears with no data.

  Would it not possible to remove from our database of VCenter and start over? I was going to put on SQL 2005 enterprise and rip off Express version.

  If you delete data from database of vCenter server you will also lose any custom permissions you'v may be made and layout of record, DRS and cluster, VMs would continue to run away, but those will be cancelled vcenter Server. It is almost like a mass of land of departure upward. If you have a small environment and don't mind reconfigure entire cluster settings so it's ok to drop the SQL database.

  But it seems that you have some problems with scheduled database jobs. Check that your SQL Agent process runs, if not, start it and see that will cross the tasks scheduled in SQL server. It may be possible to recover from this but it will take time and knowledge of the SQL Server.

  I see.  Looks like that the property on the VMHostImpl object (returned by Get-VMHost) was not always there.  I was checking against an environment that has the API vSphere 5.1.  I saw, as you have said, that these other properties were not present during the test against an API v5.0 environment.

  So, Yes, as you said - the '. '. Client.ServiceUrl"property of the View object for the host has a string that can be used to infer the vCenter server name.  And, you can still access this property of the VMHostImpl object via the. ExtensionData property.  Something like:

  I run virtual center virtually and am under very low disk space on the C drive of the server.  I tried to delete the offending, but they are updated Microsoft, so I do not wish to delete these.

  I think that my best way forward is to V2V using vmware converter and then distributed a larger disk on drive c: during the conversion process.

  Any reflection on the best way forward, if my memory servers me I can't add a measure to an OS disk (c :). Please let me know if I'm wrong.

  You can resize the systempartition using gparted or any other method (search the Forum). This will require a reboot but will meet your needs.

  I'm currently on Virtual Center Version 2.5.0 Build 84767... databases are on the SQL 2005 Enterpirise edition that is running on the same box...

  I'm planning an upgrade to 'update of 5' and I have 3 questions:

  1 at - it an "update option" in the Wizard installation or is it going to be a relocation complete?

  2. If it is an update and not a re - install, the installation wizard would take care of the part of the database of the installation or should I point to the database?

  3. If it is an update and not a re - install, are my current configurations in Virtual Center will be affected? What is the best way to save the current config?

  When you launch the installation program, you will be able to upgrade the VC, VI Client, VUM and converter (if installed)

  2. If it is an update and not a re - install, the installation wizard would take care of the part of the database of the installation or should I point to the database?

  The wizard will load the DB for VC and MUV (if installed) but you will need to enter the DSN and details of authentication, so make sure you know what.

  3. If it is an update and not a re - install, are my current configurations in Virtual Center will be affected? What is the best way to save the current config?

  Stop the service center virtual VMware, back up your DB using SQL Server Management Studio for SQL Express (free download) and if your VC server is a virtual machine, it captures instant. Restart the service center virtual VMware before proceeding with the upgrade.
