  First - sorry if I chose the wrong category for this discussion...

  Environment: ESX 3.5 U4 Enterprise, 2.5, ESX 2 VC welcomes, HA, DRS.

  We have acquired. As a result, I'm migrating over to the corporate domain. My main question is about DNS. We will no longer be a local AD/DNS server. Which is supplied on the MPLS WAN.

  Is - this supported or even desirable?

  You can hedge your bets by also adding address static hosts file entries? Or conflicts of this cause?

  My secondary question is a revision of my overall plan. Here is what I intend to do:

  Migrate all virtual machines on a single host ESX, ESX1.olddomain.local

  Since the VI CLient, change the name, the domain name and DNS of ESX2.olddomain.local configuration, reboot

  Unplug the two ESX hosts current Virtual Center

  Rename the server, W2K3 VC of oldname newname, sever olddomain.local

  Restart the server

  Join the server to newdomain.org newname

  Upgrade old VC to VC4 (seems like a good time to do that, no?)

  Connect ESX2.newdomain.org to Virtual Center and make sure that everything goes well

  Among the possibilities here 2:

  IF the DNS lookups are functioning properly, may be able to connect ESX1.olddomain.local to VC on new domain

  Migrate virtual machines running at ESX2.newdomain.org

  Since the VI CLient, change the name, the domain name and DNS of ESX1.olddomain.local configuration, reboot

  IF this is NOT the case - use the VI Client to connect locally to ESX1, power off all the virtual machines

  Since the VI CLient, change the name, the domain name and DNS of ESX1.olddomain.local configuration, reboot

  Connect ESX1 to the virtual Center

  You have problems moving your hosts on toward the new domain, because they are, honestly, any COMPLETE domain name and not linked to or controlled by AD.  I guess that the process would be similar to this:

  1. turn the VC server on new domain.

  2 confirm user accounts you need are created/added.

  3. check the DSN user account to ensure that it is correct.

  4. ESX2.olddomain.local mode now and change the FULL domain name.

  5 reset.

  6 to join the RC

  7 rinse and repeat for ESX1.olddomain.local

  I could be missing something, but I think that should do it.

• Migration of the domain controller Active Directory of windows 2000 server to a Server 2008.

  I have an old machine that is running Windows 2000 server and it's our only one domain controller in a mixed 2000/2003/2008 server environment. I would like to move to one of the servers 2008 Active Directory and make the PDC and withdraw from the old box of 2000.

  I saw a sea of documentation about the updated/move ActiveDirectory, but no clear examples of what I need to accomplish.

  Can I do a dcpromo on a 2003 server, synchronization of the 2000 box, retire the 2000 Server, then dcpromo th 2008 Server 2003 Server? I know this may seem simplistic to a complicated procedure, but I have not really found anything to support...

  A simple link to a procedure taken care of step by step would be great.

  You have to rename the DNS settings and specify the domain name and the FULL domain name

  I have a problem when I try to migrate a virtual machine to the concrete only two hosts. I have no problem in other guests in my infrastructure. When I try to start this operation I get the following error message: "cannot migrate from esx1.domain.com to esx2.domain.com: the host CPU is incompatible with the function CPU requirementes of the virtual machine; problem detected the CPUID level 0 x 80000001 register edx.

  With other virtual machines, I have no problem and I can migrate from any host to any of them.

  I am trying to import an Access 2007 database by using the Migration Wizard. But when I get to step 5 (Capture), no database is listed in the section 'Available databases'. I have created a connection to the Access db and can see objects in ot of SQL Developer.

  Can I use the SQL Developer Microsoft Access exporter to create the desired files. But I do not know how to integrate this into the process.
  
  It seems the only available migration technique is to click on the MS Access connection and then click on "copy to Oracle.

  Hi Paul,.

  The file .sql you sponsor, which is generated by the tool export to MS Access, is required for the migration of your Access to Oracle Application Express application. The exporter tool can generate two files:

  * an XML file containing the schema of your database MS Access database information. This file is required by Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench to migrate your Access database to Oracle.
  * a SQL script that contains the application for your MS Access application information. This file is used only by the application "Application migration" in Oracle Application Express 3.0 or later versions.

  I would recommend that you do the following:

  1. run the exporter tool again and make sure that you select the option "export for Oracle SQL Developer. This option causes the generation of an XML file, .xml.
  2. run Oracle SQL Developer and create a repository of Migration
  3. with the help of Migration > Capture Microsoft Access exported XML menu option, download the XML file generated in step 1. This will generate a model of capture of the Access database.
  4. create a model of the Oracle, by right-clicking the captured model.
  5 generate the DDL statements to create your migrated schema by right clicking on your template Converted & by selecting the menu option 'generate '. This will result in the generation of a SQL script containing DDL statements that you need to run in order to build your newly migrated schema.
  6. run the SQL script containing your DDL statements, to create your new migrated schema.

  I also recommend to consult the online documentation for [MS Access Migration | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12151_01/doc.150/e12154/intro_access.htm#BGBIDDGI], in order to better understand the migration process. I hope this helps.

• Firefox does not take into account the settings in/etc/hosts Mac Mavericks

  Firefox sees only the first entry, defined in/etc/hosts to 127.0.0.1.

  Basically, Firefox does not see the changes to the DNS entries, that I made in/etc/hosts. Chrome is. However, later, I noticed that Safari is not to see them. After troubleshooting below, I solved the problem by moving all my/etc/hosts statements to different lines according to them here: http://www.justincarmony.com/blog/2011/07/27/mac-os-x-lion-etc-hosts-bugs-and-dns-resolution/

  I have no idea why that works. But it does not resolve the problem for Firefox and Safari.

  I tried many things (typing about: config in the address bar):
  Set keyword.enabled false
  browser.fixup.alternate.enabled set to false
  tour of DNS caching.

  None of these things worked, but did all my config/etc/hosts the migration of multiple domains on a single line to separate lines. Hope this helps someone.
