Migrate Forms 9i to 10 g

Hello world

I spent some time reading on the net and the location most say that the only thing to do is to open your file (9i) .fmb on Forms 10g, compilation and it is. So... is this really true? or there are others to do?

Thanks for the tips.

Hello!
Yes, it's true.
Make a backup of your fmb/MMR/PLL 9i (cause: not the way back!)
Compile your files pll and mmb, then the canvas.
That's all.
You will then need to an another Version of Jinitiator on the Client.
Webutil will already be installed on the developer home.
You won't be able to connect to a database version lower than 8.1.7.4.

After migrating to 10g R2 forms you will see: no change.
But: you can now use globals with a with of 4000 characters instead of 255!...
And in the online help, you can change a topic with a doubleclick in the search index.

Others know other changes.

  • How can I migrate forms a new application with a deleted dimension data?

We created a large application, then added an extra dimension in development and have decided that we don't have this dimension.

I exported all the rules of calculation of the Manager, imported and deleted all references to the size of the old and they validate and deployment very well.  The data forms fail however on migration through shared services due to the absence of the former dimension.

What is the best way to migrate forms everywhere and ignore the extra dimension?

    Joachim

These dimensions are defined in the POV? Where they fall in the form?

You can open the Web form files in a text editor such as Notepad ++ and remove references to the old dimension.

  • Migrating Forms 10g GR 11, 2 different host

    Hi all

I'm Migrating Forms 10 g to 11 GR 2. I read a document for upgrading forms 10g to 11 GR 2, but there is no comment about the different host upgrade.

Also, there is only one way for the upgrade. Who is using "upgrade wizard".

    Currently, here is my situation.

    1. I use forms 10g now on the server A.
    2. I installed 11 GR 2 forms on server B. It works well.
    3. There are a few files of forms compiled on ServerA.
    4. I want to migrate these forms and the configuration files in the server A to Server B.

If I can't use "upgrade wizard", I just copy the configuration files two server (formsweb.cfg and default.env) and paste the B server configuration files. But I think that it is not good idea to migrate.

Is there something else easy way and security for the upgrade.

    Please answer to me thanks!

Let me start with the urgent comment: do NOT copy the configuration of earlier versions and drop them in the new environment. It's a bad idea for many reasons.  The most obvious is because new version has new settings and changes, some of which are required.

I hope that, in your environment to version 10 you does not alter the [default] section of formsweb.cfg.  If this is the case, then you can easily copy your sections in the file of the new version.  However, before you do anything like that, make sure that you stop the Server Admin v11 and Managed Server (WLS_FORMS).  Don't try to do it with them running or your changes likely will have lost to ignored.  The default.env should be similar.  You can replace the one-for-one entries, but do not replace the entries found in the file.  Thus, for example, you can copy your old FORMS_PATH and drop it into the new file.  Comment out the existing and use your instead.  And so on.

OK, we can all calm down now.

The next thing to address is this statement "...". compiled form files on server A... ».  You can also copy forms of update modules / generated from one version to the other.  You need to rebuild 'X' (fmx, mmx, plx) of files in the new environment, using the new compiler.

As for using the upgrade wizard, there are some limitations to use, needing to be on the same machine.  However, despite everything, my recommendation is that not use you it anyway.  In most cases, you will have more success and much easier to maintain the environment if you do things manually.  AU is especially useful when you have significant customizations and complex throughout the battery (SST, Web Cache, forms, reports, etc.).  For typical configuration changes, manually create the new that's going to be the way to go.  It will give you also a chance to clean by removing changes made previously which are no longer needed.

  • Cannot migrate Forms 10 g and 11g: give SQL stmnts ALL erred "ignored statement."

We have a Forms application Forms 10 g R1 (Forms [32 bit] Version 9.0.4.2.0 (Production)). We want to migrate Forms 11 g (Forms [64-Bit] Version 11.1.2.0.0).

The app Server and Forms builder are in Windows machines.

We open a 10g R1 form our application forms 11g and compile it in the form designer. Yes, we get an error for "each SQL STATEMENT", for each SQL statement and some procedure calls that we get this error.

Error 0 in line 4, column 3 SQL statement ignored

Then, we created a mild form using Forms 10 g R1 without any of our libraries and added a block and a program unit to the form with a simple SQL.

We then copied the form to the machine that has the forms 11g and then opened it in form 11g. Then we try to compile and we get the same error. See screenshot here: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/i8m6c

It's so obviously nothing to do with our library (PLL) or forms of model. This seems a common problem in all forms.

What is the problem here? Is this a bug?

We then converted the 10g R1 Forms 10 g R2 ([32 bit] Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Production)) which opened in forms of 11g and tried to compile. Same mistake.

What is the process to 11g Forms 10g Release 1?

    Hello
Our forms6i (no EBS) application is running on windows 2003.
We would like to switch to Forms 11 g on linux redhat 5 32-bit.
Is that what this migration is supported?
Can help with the steps to migrate forms 6i to linux?
    Thank you

    Yoav,
Take a look at Oracle Forms modernization Oracle Forms 6i with Oracle Forms 11 g. This document gives you all the information you need to perform the upgrade. As for moving from Windows to Linux, Oracle Forms is practically independent of the platform, because almost all the major operating systems are supported server. Take a look at The Documentation Oracle Forms and specifically the Forms Services Deployment Guide and the guides of Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Portal, forms, reports and discoverer .

    Hope this helps,

  • To migrate forms to 11.1.2 should we improve the forms to 10.1.2.3

We have an application developed using Oracle Forms [32 bit] Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Production).

We want to migrate/upgrade to forms [32 bit] Version 11.1.2.0.0 (Production).

What is the process of migration of Forms 10 g 11g Forms?

    (1) use a batch script and compiled the 10g shape forms 11g using the 11 g compiler.
    (2) open the forms that gave errors when compiling batch in the form builder 11 g and compile the form in the form designer from 11 g to find errors, correct them, and compile the form and create fmx use of the generator of.

Of after this document (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/doc.11120/e23975/upgrade_classic.htm) it is said, only under + "4.1 planning your upgrade to Oracle Forms and reports 11 g Release 2 (11.1.2)" + which you must patch and the last 10 g Release 2 game fixes which is 10 g Release 2 (10.1.2.3)

    Is this necessary?

Also, what is the Assistant of the upgrade wizard for? Source and Destination must be in the same machine, it seems. But we were told that you can't install forms 11g and forms 10 g in the same machine?

This seems to be a common point of confusion. The "FMw Upgrade Assistant" is a utility that helps you to update any installation of the Application Server to a version more recent (for example 11.1.x). This has nothing to do with your forms (fmb, mmb, pll, etc.) or requests for reports (EPR, rdf, etc.). In General, I would say that using the AU is not necessary and probably shouldn't be used in most cases. Case where it should be used may include a situation where your previous version has been significantly customized and you don't know how or do not want to make the same customization in the new environment manually. If you are talking about a new product (Oracle or not) or even a new OS, generally your best bet is to start with a clean and new installation. Try to upgrade an existing version of always comes with problems. Notice of Just a man ;-)

Regarding your requests for forms, there is a Migration Assistant (FMA) form, explained in the Guide to upgrade forms:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E24269_01/doc.11120/e24478/toc.htm

That said, as with AU, it is always better to take extra time and do not rely on tools so they can be avoided. In most cases, the FMB will be unnecessary. This is especially true if your application has come to version 10. For older versions, using FMA could be beneficial.

So, to the point, to move an application Forms (fmb, mmb, pll) version 10 or 11 is as simple as recompiling your modules by using the compiler v11. Is it ;-)

  • Problem with a JavaBean when migrating Forms 10.1.2.0 to 10.1.2.3

We have a Forms application that uses a JavaBean and it works well on the Forms 10.1.2.0 applet version. We are in the process of upgrading forms 10.1.2.3 and when we run the same application on this version, we get:

    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at oracle.forms.ui.VBean.isFocusTraversable (unknown Source)

    Any idea?
    Thank you

    I had this problem too and triggered a SR with oracle support. Unfortunately, they could not reproduce the problem, and I was not able to create a repcase (it occurred randomly in our application, but I could not reproduce it on a small repcase). I found myself with the substitution of isFocusTraversable() in my Java Beans;
See what this method is supposed to do:
    http://download.Oracle.com/javase/1.4.2/docs/API/Java/AWT/component.html#isFocusTraversable%28%29

Based on what should be the case, it might work if you return the value true or false.

    Hello

I have this SHAPE with Oracle LOV calendar, not JPC calendar. It compiles without problems on FORMS 9i and 10g. However, when it runs on OC4J 10 g, (it doesn't look like problems of library that I first compilation error while the library path has not been added to the FORM_PATH, or it could be something else with configuration?) when I click on the buttons with the trigger:

    Start
    go_block ('blk');
    go_record (TO_NUMBER (:System.cursor_record));
    go_item ('blk.rec_date');
    do_key ('list_values');

  • LCM - migration of form

    Hello

We will migrate to 11.1.2.2 and face certain difficulties migration form Bowl LCM.

Time of the first import of a Forms folder in the application went well.
The second time, we have added several files form .xml in the system files in the same folder (and the file listing). HSS 'sees' those files, we execute the migration of the planning application which goes without error, but there is no change in the application.

Then I deleted the forms and the application folder (the folder deletion is a story of its own) and having curves. The result is - the folder is recreated and the imported forms - but only those initially imported.

Anyone had similar problems, we missing something or is - this planning another "problem"?

    Thank you!

If you try to hack the LCM :)

It works fine on 11.1.2.2 (do not know what version)

I took a copy of the file of the Rate.xml tax and created a new tax rate New.xml (changed the xml code to reflect the new name of form)

Added that one in the file listing.xml

Import back to planning and it works. What are these xml files which fell into the directory of the file? They are born on the same version? Is there a form with the same name?

    • Try to FORMS_PATH defined in the Windows registry for the generator of forms & FORMS_PATH in default.env for execution forms.

My question is what is the purpose of the forms_ie.js, should use us it when we do not run with the standard models htm and if we should how I change my code to include the latter.

    Thank you

The reason why the java script (js) files have been added was the result of a change being implemented by browser vendors (Microsoft in this case). Without going into deep detail, the addition of these files was necessary in order to obtain the forms applet to load after that some restrictions have been added to IE. It was suggested that restrictions that cause once the need for these files has been deleted or modified. As a result, he peut+ _ be possible to remove these files and their references.  Oracle is looking into this possibility, but currently has not completed any formal test to prove if they are no longer needed.

Feel free to remove them and make the appropriate changes to the corresponding model html files. Test drive it and let us know what you find. ;)

Don't forget that since a Support of Oracle, view, delete these files and change this part of the model may not be considered "sustained."

Finder shows nothing changed in the last 2 days (started all this Friday morning) or a recent; the files are voluminous relevent. Nothing in the folder 'virtual machine', nor the record of support for the application.

So whence the transferred data go when a migration fails?
