    Nordine salvation,

I suggest you to refer the link: "How do I convert the character set for Oracle R12.1.1 running on 11.0.6 database Oracle US7ASCII' as it is very relevant to you."

Response to your previous post would be:

    S ' stick to a plan

-Try all of the activity on the TEST server for yourself

-Troubleshoot and debug all the question from A - Z

-On the successful implementation, make a backup of the Production and move the solution to PROD.

If possible, run a lot of questions while doing the character set migration oracle applications, database because it contains the application tables.

I accept the fact that EBS database is complicated to a database independent, but still all the features and debugging tools and troubleshooting is the same, although it is autonomous or EBS database.

We should do if we stuck to the top in with and truncate in the application according to the CSSCAN results tables,.

little tables when we checked in Metalink he says to avoid these tables which do not affect the database or application.

Try in a Test Server, the above link helps you on the issue. You can find answer to some tables with loss in metalink if it's a bug, just lift a SRt solve your problem.

What we must do if we are in important application tables, export and import will help in this issue.

No, if we have available data with loss, then we cannot use the Import/Export and we will have to use CSALTER instead.

is this the right method or must contact oracle support for assistance on important application tables.

YES, I personally recommend you try and paralleling have ongoing Oracle support. So that you will have a guide from A to Z, in the case you're wrong

    Hope this helps

  • Migration system 9 planning SQL Server EPM11.1 using Oracle applications

I installed EPM11.1 Oracle on the back end. I put to level my project Hyperion system 9 to EPM11.1. Installing and configuring EPM went well so far. However, my system of planning applications was created on SQL/2000 on the old system 9. I need help migrate SQL/Server applications on Oracle databases.

Question: Do I need to create an empty shell App-1 on the new EPM11.1 system and migrate the App-1 of the former system, SQL/Server. Alternatively, the migration process should automatically create a new database of App-1 on the Oracle database?

I would appreciate any input you can provide. Thank you.

Mcf properties should be withdrawn as a best practice, regardless of the environment. Development is probably the environment more important to revome such that it will be this object that gets migrated as part of the lifecycle developmentn. As much as I know I've never seen a dependency on these parameters in JDev, so they can be dismissed at pleasure.

The question in dispute. Looking at your it looks that you have correctly entered your JNDI name in

You specified jdbc/fmis. This seems to be more than one data source name is not a jndi name. I expect to see something like eis/Apps/fmis.

This must be entered in your connection pool.

    In EM-> oc4j_soa-> applications-> default-> Apps adapter.

This must match your JDeveloper entry. If you establish as common naming method, it should be no problem with the transfer between the developers code.

    see you soon

  • Migration to Oracle Weblogic Server 12 c

I've been running a few web applications on Oracle Application Server 10g for a few years now.

Just got a new server with Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 to replace the old equipment. Installed Weblogic 12 c, which seemed to be the logical choice.

All I need is a simple application server J2EE with no bells and whistles, a single server and a few applications. The entire concept of servers, clusters, nodes, machines, etc. of deployments is a bit intimidating for me and possibly an overdose to the minimum infrastructure that I owe to my light apps. You will appreciate if someone shed some light in the following.

-Is Oracle Weblogic server 12 c the right product for my needs, given my small user base applications and light (JSP and Servlets)?

-What is a minimal installation? Do I really need all these - servers, clusters, nodes, machines.

-Do I need to use a NodeManager? Which is an optional component?

    Thank you.

    Published by: 997026 on May 30, 2013 17:54

WebLogic Server in general is probably one of the most robust Java App servers out there - you receive many bells and whistles. But it's the best :)

Another point to consider is a license cost. WebLogic comes at a price. Thus, there are free solutions like Oracle Glassfish - by which is a solid java web - app server. However, I find the GlassFish somewhat complicated compared to WebLogic administration console (but that's because I'm used to WebLogic).

Which way you choose, I would like to you have not all dependencies on applications based on the products of Fusion Middleware such as ADF (frame based on Java). As the respective frame only is not supported or designed to operate on 12 c (yet).

For your WLS options, it may look intimidating, but is not bad:
-You will need an AdminServer with 1 server to a minimum.

-For machines, its all just the physical location of your WebLogic Server. It allows the node Manager to work properly. To configure, has awarded some Admin/Managed servers to whatever the machine, the servers are running on.

-Clustering is optional. However, if your applications can run in an environment cluster, then highlight cluster is a great feature to activate for high availability configurations. In your case, it might be a little too much.

-Node Manager is optional, but necessary in my opinion. It allows you to run the WebLogic administration Console controls in your WebLogic servers - such as marketing power. You can also configure Node Manager to manage the Crash Recovery - which is a very nice feature. For example, if your weblogic server goes down or is killed for some reason, Node Manager will bring the server up. Its really easy to install.

    Thank you

  • Space/performance impact of attachments on oracle applications

    Hello everyone!

We are about to go to allow attachments in our Oracle Apps R12.1.3 (RHEL 5.5 64-Bit. Database 11.1.0.7). Before you go for it, however, we want to know how it will impact storagewise and performance wise.

    Edited by: VinodNagpure January 6, 2013 23:19

Attachments are stored in the table FND_LOBS - attachments are not compressed. There should be no performance issues don't related - extra storage will be necessary depending on how many and how big are the attachments. Store attachments on the file (instead of the database) system is also an option.

Multiple sales in individual sales division is to do before sending it to the Oracle application adapter in BEPL/BSE/OSB. As far as I know Oracle Application adaptation for Peoplesoft has no option available.

Transformation of splitting can be easily done in BSE/OSB/BPEL.

    Hi all
I received a new assignment, which involves Oracle 10g application server, I am new to oracle application server and hoping that someone will specify please my doubts.

    (1) is it possible to install just Oracle Application server 10 g on a computer that already contains the database oracle 10 g, in the affirmative, whereas on the database that is installed when you install the Oracle 10 g application server.

    (2) how to clone the machine of production above, the oracle 10 g database can we clone first, and then the application oracle 10 g cloned on the new server machine?

    (1) Yes, it is possible. The DB that comes with the OAS, as DB infrastructure for it (I assume that you install a full OAS with infrastructure and environments times) does not affect the DB that you already have on your system... of course... as long as install you them in their separate homes.

    (2) I always say, the term cloning is used a bit loosely, in the sense of general communication making copies. In the context of the OAS, cloning works for middletiers only. You can't clone an infrastructure.

To make an alternate/redundant environment for the OAS, you can proceed as follows:
(- a) is using the same infra on computer 1 and install another high and register with the same infra.
    (b) or to install another infra on machine 2, and also an environments registered with it.

Here for the first option (a), cloning can be used because you can (* only *) clone an intermediate layer. There are advantages and disadvantages of this facility, including that you share the SSO and OID, and therefore the users and the groups of bases, etc. on these two environments - something you can or don't want to. But then, there are also a few outputs so as to avoid or minimize their effects too. Please see the following reference for cloning and research on Metalink to minimize the effects, once you get more familiar with the process.

There are a few notes on Metalink related questions about benefits or procedures for cloning and staging of an environment too.
There are other ways for export/transport your applications to another instance through DB. Please also read about them.

    hope that helps!

  • Oracle Application Performance Tuning

    Hi all
Please forgive me if I'm asking this in the wrong section.

I'm an engineer s/w with 2 years exp. I worked as a tuning performance for Oracle EBS resource in my company. Jobs in question especially SQL tuning and treating indices etc. At the moment I took interest in s/n things, and I finished my TRAY in Oracle 10 g. Now, my company gives me the opportunity to move to a team of DBA of the Application and I'm totally confused about this.

Becoming a DBA Apps means that the effort that I put in the certification in 10g will be of no use. There are other Apps DBA certification documents. I should stay put in performance tuning & wait for a chance to base DBA or I will accept the opportunity to Apps DBA.

Also, did my exp. in SQL tuning performance hold any value as such with exposure to activities of s/n?

Please guide me in this matter I am very confused right now.

    Kind regards
    Lucette

Hello bigdelboy, thank you very much for your answer.

Yes, I meant by oracle Apps DBA Oracle EBS.

1Z0-046 clearing, is an option. However, my question is will delete both reviews the Admin I and Admin II being of any help, bypassing the expericnce practice? The EBS DBA work involves support and patching, cloning and installation of the new node etc.

Also, is my performance tuning experience will help me somehow on the way forward as a DBA / EBS DBA?

Thank you for your valuable time.

    Kind regards

The way I read it is that.

People notice that you are able to understand and SQL performance. And you must have some knowledge of Oracle EBS. And in fact, you also have a DBA OCA.

So, there are 98% + chance you can be transformed into a good Oracle Apps DBA (and the core s/n). If I was in their position I want you on my team. It's the way we used to bring on DBA in the old days before approval, and he still has a lot of merit. OK you can only do tasks limited at first... but the number of taks you can do will increase substantially in recent months.

I imagine that the Oracle Apps DBA will be pleased to have a person on board who can tune SQL which sometimes can sometimes seem more like an art than a science of performance. The application of patches, etc. can be taught in small doses. If they are a good team, they're not trying to give you all at once, they'll get to learn one procedure at a time.

And remember, if in doubt ask. and if you do not understand ask again. And be safe and not sorry on actions that could be serious.

    .................

If your fear on liinux: recipes of Linux for Oracle DBA (Apress) might be a good book to read but can be expensive in India
Same: (Oracle Applications Dba field Guide) can agree, and the same (Rman recipes for Oracle Database 11 g A problem-solution approach) can have some value if you need to get fast speed in these areas.
They are not perfect, but they sometimes have to consolidate the information carefully; However only buy if you think they are pretty cheap. You can buy them well and feel disappointed (these all is found by Apress which have produced a number of good books... they also published some waste as well)

And review the dba examples 2 days as well and install examples n OTN linux so... they are free from books I mentioned.

    Rgds - bigdelboy.
