Migration system 9 planning SQL Server EPM11.1 using Oracle applications

I installed EPM11.1 Oracle on the back end. I put to level my project Hyperion system 9 to EPM11.1. Installing and configuring EPM went well so far. However, my system of planning applications was created on SQL/2000 on the old system 9. I need help migrate SQL/Server applications on Oracle databases.

Question: Do I need to create an empty shell App-1 on the new EPM11.1 system and migrate the App-1 of the former system, SQL/Server. Alternatively, the migration process should automatically create a new database of App-1 on the Oracle database?

I would appreciate any input you can provide. Thank you.

You should be able to mark answers as useful or correct, doesn't look like this for one of the answers.

Use SQl developer offers 2 options to move the data, online and offline data movement. When you call the batch file to load data offline you must also make sure that you collected the data first to the SQL server side using the data to extract batch files that create the DAT files with the content. The content is written in flat files using the file unload_scripts.bat-online check if you have this kind of file, and then copy the entire script to SQL Server folder, and run the script of unloading it.

It will create the dat files that you will then need to load the data into the Oracle database.

  • Advanced POS 5.8 only sees the system databases in SQL Server 2014 and fails when attempting backup

We have upgraded to VDP 5.8 has progressed today and installed the new SQL agent in 3 different SQL servers.  Two SQL Server 2008 work well with VDP machines - he can see all databases.

But when I try to create a backup of the SQL Server 2014 computer, by selecting individual databases, the VDP device (such as it is controlled through vSphere Web Client) sees only the three system databases

Master, MSDB and Temp.  And when I tried to back up the master database, the process has failed with an error various non-expose of reasons.

Is there something special about setting up SQL Server 2014 to be backed up by advanced VDP?

See M80ARM - Warrior of Virtualization: VDP Advanced SQL Agent permissions

Basically, you need to either run the 'Backup Agent' service in a context that had rights to the SQL Server or you have enable the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account with rights on the SQL Server.  Not obvious in the documentation, but that solved for me.

  • creating reports using oracle application server

    Hi all

I am a complete newbie with Oracle Application Server (OAS) and Oracle reports. My task is to generate HTML and PDF using OAS reports. The current application has an aspx (ASP.NET front end) pages that call third party fast Radar report tool that retrieves data according to the need of the user (such as month, day, year,... product name) and displays as a grid. I have to remove the FastRadar part and use the OAS OracleAS reports Services components to generate these reports

I went through Chapter 12 of Oracle.Application.Server.10g.Essentials by OReilly 2004 edition

She looks briefly by this part. But it seems to mention the subject of Oracle reports something like "reports Oracle has an interface based on an Assistant called Oracle Reports Developer who can create reports. Oracle Reports Developer is part of the Oracle Developer Suite. Reports created with Oracle Reports Developer can be deployed on the Web using OracleAS reports Services support in Oracle Application Server. »

I'm not clear what to do. I have to create the report format in Oracle Reports using frontend based on a wizard called Oracle Reports Developer and deploy it by using OracleAS reports Services?

Or, is it possible to create the report format with Services of OracleAS reports without using Oracle Reports. We said that we just installed OAS, don't know if Oracle reports is installed or not as it is done at a remote site.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Cannot display all of the databases in SQL Server 2012 when using CONTROL SERVER permission on user

    Hello

I'm testing the implementation of a user who has the CONTROL SERVER permission.

I created a database MYDB with my sysadmn account.

I have the connection with another say TESTUSER user account (this is a SQL login) who received the CONTROL SERVER permission only.

The TESTUSER can see the MYDB database in SSMS.

The TESTUSER Gets a message when you try to view the tables in the MYDB pressing the sign +. :

"The MYDB database is not accessible.

If I try to do a right-click on the MYDB database, I get the following:

'User has not authorized to perform this action... ". Error 297 "

Even if I GRANT the ALTER ANY DATABASE the TESUSER permission TESTUSER still gets this error?

I thought that CONTROL SERVER permission would allow a user to see all databases even those that the user does not have?

So does the same for the ALTER ANY DATABASE permission?

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

    Hi friends

We intend to improve our environment Hyperion of 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.2. and we will go from SQL server as our RDBMS Oracle.

If we change DBMS, do we have to rebuild the total application or is there an easy way to migrate from sql server to Oracle

    Please suggest

    Thank you

Upgrade the application to 11.1.2.2 while remaining on the SQL Server, then use LCM to export the application, remove the application, update the data source to point to Oracle, use LCM to import.

  • How only migrate data between SQL Server 2008 Oracle 11?

According to our requirement, we only have to migrate data from a SQL Server database to an existence
    Oracle database user.
    (1) I tried to do with the wizard of Migration SQL Developer 3.0.04, but find a problem.
    My SQL Server database name is SCDS41P2 and my Oracle database user name is CDS41P2;
When I used SQL Developer move offline data by the Migration Wizard, I found all the oracle user
name in movedata files who obtained by running the Migration Wizard
is dbo_SCDS41P2. If the Oracle user name is not the same as my Oracle username existed.
the data cannot be moved to my user Oracle existed when I run oracle_ctl.bat in the command line window.
So I had to change the Oracle username in all the movedata files, but it is difficult to change because there are a lot of tables in
databases. So could you please tell me how to get the movedata files which is the name of user oracle in them my
    WHEREAS Oracle user name?

    (2) I also tried to use the "copy to Oracle" to copy the data to SQL Server database tables
the user database was Oracle. When you click on 'copy to Oracle', I selected the option 'Include data' and 'replace '.
But I found some tables cannot be copied, the error info is as below:
SPSSCMOR_CONTROLTABLE table failed. Message: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object

Could you please tell me how to deal with this kind of mistake?

    Hello
After following with development the following should work too-

1 use the migration option to capture and convert the SQL * database server
    2. go in SQL * Developer and remove the converted model.
    3. click on the captured model and choose 'convert '.
    4. click Next and you should get a screen with 2 options - "Data Type Mapping" and "Object Naming.
    5. choose "Object Naming" and scroll down the list until you see the name of the user who will be transformed. For example, in my test, I got the names scott_test and dbo_test - where the owners are 'scott' and 'dba' and 'test' was the name of the database.
    6. change the name of oner_database to just owner - scott_test to scott
7 complete the conversion process and the owners must be created without the name of the database.
    8. you should now be able to generate the SQL * scripts of charger with only the name of the owner in the CTL files.

Please try this and let us know if it works for you.

  • How to migrate from SQL server to oracle 11g

    Hello
I have a lot of tables in sql server, and I want to connect them in oracle

    Welcome to the forum,

    Hello
To create a link Oracle with SQL Server follow these steps:
    1. install Oracle ODBC drivers on the server (your Oracle database local) who will have access to the remote SQL Server database by using the database link.

    2. configuration of the ODBC connection on the local Oracle using the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator database

3 test pilots to verify ODBC connectivity is made to the SQL Server database.

    4. make sure that your global_names parameter is set to False.

    5. configure Oracle heterogeneous services by creating an initodbc.ora file in the Oracle database.

    7 change the Listener.ora file.

SID_NAME is the DSN for the remote database.
ORACLE_HOME is the real path to the file at Oracle.
    PROGRAM says Oracle heterogeneous services.

    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = Cas30C) - enter the DSN on this line
    (ORACLE_HOME = c:\oracle10gdb)--Inscrivez your Oracle home
    (Program = hsodbc)) )

    8. change the Tnsnames.ora file. It's accessed by users Oracle database installation connect for ODBC drivers

    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (Address = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST =
    -(X server)

    -is listening
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = Cas30c)) - enter the name of the DSN
(HS = OK)-enter this value. He indicates to Oracle to use transfer services
    )

9 recharge the listener on a local Oracle database

    10. create a link of database on the local Oracle installation that accesses the heterogeneous connection, which, in turn, connect to SQL Server.

11 execute SQL Select Server from the Oracle installation using the database link

  • How to upgrade from Virtual Center 2.5 + SQL Server 2000 to vCenter 4.1 + SQL Server 2008 (R2)?

I plan the upgrade of an existing VMware Infrastructure 3 (Virtual Center 2.5 + ESX 3.5) to vSphere 4.1, and I'm stuck in the Virtual Center Server upgrade and its back-end database.

vSphere 4.1 is released only as a 64-bit software, so he needs a x 64 O.S.; This excludes an upgrade the existing server on-site.

The plan is to install a new Server Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 (or 2008 R2 if taken in charge), migrate the database and install 4.1 on the server vCenter.

The question: How can I migrate the database?

When you perform an upgrade of Virtual Center vCenter 4.0 on-site, the database is automatically upgraded; but this isn't the case when you install a new server.

VMware provides a utility to clear the existing database and import it into a new server, but it works only for SQL Server Express (which according to VMware must not be used in medium/large production environments); If this is not an option.

I am unable to find a support procedure to perform this migration.

    Can someone please help?

    Massimo,

I just went through it and found it to be a little pain simply because I forgot to VMware document simplicity...

You are right, the 'migration' tool does support SQL Server Express, I don't know why and niether are the two VMware Tech Support Agents I spoke with.

To anyone reading this. NOTE If you perform the upgrade / migration SQL Server Express via the Migration tool you MUST check the registry DbServerType key FIRST! If it is set on Custom Migration tools will ignore simply stages of database! See this VMware KB article for more information:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=1024380

Yes, it is the States 'failure', what he does not say, it is that the Migration tool will be 'Silencieusement Skip' your database.

End of Migration tools do call a standard SQL Server T - SQL backup command. YAY! You don't have to upgrade your existing 32-bit vCenter Server, do first just in case backup/snapshot, then run through the upgrade as if you were going to use the 32-bit version in production. This step will apply to any database schema change.

Build your brilliant new 64-bit server, install all of the bits and then use SQL Server Management Studio to make a backup of SQL Server 32-bit database and then restore it on your new 64-bit server. NOTE: Make sure that all SQL and vCenter services are stopped before proceeding with the backup and restore of the measures.

After the restoration of the SQL on your new server it reboot and everything will come back to life just as it is only now with all 64 bit!

    Hope this Helps!

  • Query in sql server from Oracle 9.2

    Hello

How can I connect and run the query to Oracle without using other products (DG4MSQL, etc)?

    using 9.2.08

    Hello
I say it is 'free' because Dg4ODBC is included in your license of RDBMS and simply provide a third party ODBC driver.
    See this note-

Gateway and connectivity generic licensing considerations (Doc ID 232482.1)

You must install and configure in an ORACLE_HOME on a machine somewhere then you can use the links in the database to connect to and select databases non-Oracle.
Take a look at these notes depending on the platform that you plan to use-

    How DG4ODBC Setup on Linux x 86 32 bit (Doc ID 466228.1)
How to set up DG4ODBC on 64 bit OS Unix (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP - UX Itanium) to connect to Oracle databases Post Install (Doc ID 561033.1)
How the installer DG4ODBC (gateway for ODBC Oracle database) on Windows 32 bits (Doc ID 466225.1)
How the installer DG4ODBC (gateway for ODBC Oracle database) on 64-bit Windows operating systems (Doc ID 1266572.1)

As I said in my previous update if SQL * Server is your non-Oracle database then a stand-alone installation on Windows is the best option in order to use the Microsoft ODBC driver, although there is now a Linux x 86-64 bit available MS ODBC.

Please read carefully the notes that I called because they should have the information you need.

    Kind regards

  • Determination of needs memory to SQL Server

    Hi all

I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find the answer to this question.  And it seems strange because I really can't believe I'd be the first person in this situation.

    The situation:

I pull some data on about 30 servers perfmon to size a new farm to run some of our external facing infrastructure.  I get good data most of the boxes (ui, search, intermediate level, etc.) but not the SQL servers.  Regardless of the load on the server, SQL seems to devour almost all available memory.  Read about managing memory SQL, it is not surprising that he would show the way in perfom and/or the Task Manager, but I need to get a handle on the amount of memory, these servers will need to function properly.

I know that there is much more to the issue of performance, but a SQL Server in particular has 32 GB of physical memory and SQL is actively filling 30 of it.  It would make a horrible candidate (like less because our host record and consolidation target ratios) for virtual server.  That said, I like the impression that this server might work on much less and uses this 30G because he can.

There are people who would say "Start with 4 G, test, and add more than necessary".  Unfortunately, this is not really an option for us given the timeline and the visibility of the migration.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide assistance here!

    -Brent

Personally I start with 1 GB and work toward the top, but this depends on how active do you think that the server is.  If you think its quite busy then try using 2 GB for the operating system and give 1.5 GB to SQL and see how it behaves.

Unfortunately, SQL will use given to her in the SQL Manager properties before you begin to re - use all available memory.

The only way to really tell is to determine if your server is under memory pressure and adjust accordingly.  Unfortunately, this means start low and going back as things are going to hell.

This will help to see if your server knows the memory pressure

    Memory

    • Memory: Available bytes

    • Memory: Pages/sec reads

    • Process: Working together: sqlserver

    • SQL Server: Buffer Manager: Buffer Cache Hit Ratio

    • SQL Server: Memory Manager: Total memory of the server (KB)

The memory: available bytes indicates the amount of physical memory, in bytes.

immediately available for allocation to a process or for system use. It is a memory

not currently in use by the system.

The memory: pages/sec reads shows the rate, in incidents per second, at which the

disk was read to resolve hard page faults. This counter indicates the number of read operations, without

with regard to the number of pages retrieved in each operation. Hard page faults occur when a process

fact refers to a virtual memory page that must be retrieved from disk because it is not in his

working set or elsewhere in physical memory. This counter is a primary indicator for types

defects that cause delays throughout the system.

    A low number of available bytes indicates that there may be not enough memory available;

or processes, including SQL Server, may not be free memory. A high number of faults Pages/sec

indicate excessive paging. A more in-depth look at individual instances of process: Page

Defects/s, to see if the SQL Server process, for example, has an excessive paging can be

necessary. A low rate of defects of Pages/sec (usually 5 to 10 per second) is normal, as the

operating system will continue to make a home on the range of work.

Ideally, we'd like for SQL Server to be the only application on the server and with most of

the memory in the box. Add memory to a server and configure SQL Server to use is

beyond the scope of this article, but the more, the better.

The process: working together: sqlserver instance indicates the amount of memory that SQL Server

use, in bytes. If the number is always less than the amount of SQL Server is configured

for use by the MIN SERVER MEMORY and MAX SERVER MEMORY options, and then SQL Server is

configured for too much memory. Otherwise, you may have to increase the RAM and MAX SERVER MEMORY.

Buffer Cache Hit Ratio should be constantly greater than 90. This indicates that the

data provided 90 per cent of requests for data cache. If this value is always

low, it is a very good indicator that needs more memory to SQL Server. If it is available

Bytes is low, which means that we should add more RAM.

If the total memory of the server for SQL Server is always higher than the total memory of the server,

It indicates that there is not enough RAM. This counter is in KB, as opposed to bytes for the process: working together: sqlserver
