MIME type html5 video

Hello

I had a problem with the video playing in firefox when it is hosted on GoDaddy HTML5. I'm almost certain that it is a problem aside server but GoDaddy has no technical support to give me solutions more than what they have suggested several times. Here is the link to the index page, I have problems with that:

http://gerardtonti.com/CV/index.html
There is a video that plays above my name. You can see in other browsers. The HTML code of the video is:

<video width="220px" height="227px" autoplay>
    		    <source type="video/mp4" src="http://www.gerardtonti.com/CV/img/Sneeze.mp4">
                    <source type="video/ogv" src="http://www.gerardtonti.com/CV/img/Sneeze.ogv">
                    <source type="video/webm" src="http://www.gerardtonti.com/CV/img/Sneeze.webm">
 </video>

GoDaddy suggested the creation of a htaccess file that contains the following code:

AddType video/mp4 .mp4 .m4v
AddType video/ogg .ogv
AddType video/webm .webm

I downloaded the file htaccess with this code and nothing happened. I've placed the file in the root and the folder that contains the videos. Still nothing. I had this problem with another client hosting on GoDaddy. Is there a solution to this problem?

Thank you!

Gerard

Hi Gerard, hosts that provide correct content types for their media work perfectly well. But I can't move mountains to GoDaddy, sorry.

    The site "paperwishes.com" (card making supplies) plays videos of product for some of its products. A blue box shows the word 'Play' next to the item. When I clicked on this blue box last spring, he'd always play. He's now hit & miss. Sometimes, it will offer to play via MP4, but rarely. Their 'webisode' will play not (who played in the spring, as well). Cannot understand what has changed: Google update leaving Windows XP in the past?

    Videos on the site can be read with an HTML5 player and do not use the Flash Player Plugin like a video I cheacked used HTML5 player when I right click on it. Actually, it turns out the link video was a Youtube video and YT uses the HTML5 player when possible and descends to Flash Player if need be if they always support such.

    With a little work, you can get the video to work in Firefox on the old WinXP EOL of HTML5.

    AddType video/webm .webm
    AddType text/plain .srt

    Help, please! I need to I get just before Christmas...

    Hei fmdeveloper!
    I thought about it: you must download the .htaccess file in the folder where you placed your index file. The information contained in the .htaccess file are the following:

    AddType audio/ogg .oga
    AddType video/ogg .ogv
    AddType application/ogg OGG

    BUT: when you download the file .htaccess with a ftp software - you need to change your options for the ASCII Mode! DO NOT use binary Mode for download!

    The question is what video files you can use on the modern web?

    Forget the incorporation.

    MP4 has the broadest support of browsers and modern mobile devices.

    None of the additional plugins or other required software.

    Use the HTML5 tag

    If you use an earlier version, use this code.

  • The point on the compatibility of the browser with HTML5 video and mp4s?

    I currently have a mp4 video on my site, and the video is currently hosted by YouTube. But I would like to move it to our web server using the HTML5 video element. So far, pretty simple:

    < div id = "videodiv" >

    < src = "videos/video my_video.mp4" control width = '100% ' > < / video > "

    < / div >

    What I read, I was ready to provide alternative (webm and ogg) formats, but I tested it with Firefox, Chrome and IE10, and they seem to all work. I do not have to provide three versions of the video, because it is a precursor to a 8 added more videos to our Web site. The browser world all got on board with mp4 now, or do I always have to provide alternatives?

    Thank you

    All modern browsers now support MP4.  Not so a few years ago. So we used relief WEBM and OGG.

  • help please on HTML5 video basic

    I have a website with lots of videos embedded using the plugin method. However, not google Chrome and Apple Safari don't play well.

    I would like to know if there is a simple way to convert a page like this:

    Holiday travel HD high-definition Canon HF G10 of video of big island of hawaii Keith Waddo Waddington

    The links "look at the short video" to a simple page with a frame and integrated .mov video. Now it shows just a missing plugin icon.

    I can easily edit this page? because I have a lot of similar.

    Also:

    I watched a few videos and they all show choose "HTML5 Video" of the common insert component. However, my component insertion does not include this even thought I use CS6! My list includes only the anchor link hyperlink e-mail etc. I even created a new empty HTML page and always the choice never understand HTML5 video.

    So why does HTML5 video choice not appear in my component insertion/common?

    Thanks for those who took the time to read this. If it is not quite obvious, my Dreamweaver skills are very basic.

    Waddo

    These HTML5 options have been added in the clouds CS6. They were never part of the perpetual license version, that's why you don't have them.

    To use html5

    You will need at least 2 versions of each video to cover all modern browsers, .mp4 and .ogg or .webm. You can use this online converter for the file types you need: online video converter

  • Button to reactivate the HTML5 video microphone?

    It is easy to insert HTML5 video on a webpage with Dreamweaver CS6/CC, and it's easy to put this video on mute. Just click the "Mute" button in the properties panel.

    The code is:

    < video preload = 'auto' the control loop >

    < src = "source ShutterSpeed640.mp4" type = "video/mp4" > "

    TO:

    < video preload = 'auto' controls mute loop >

    < src = "source ShutterSpeed640.mp4" type = "video/mp4" > "

    < / video >

    But I want to do is have muted the page loading, then be a way for the Viewer to reactivate the video.

    I have been searching the forum & tutorials & have not found an answer. Could someone put me on the right track?

    I'm not a whiz at coding, I just push when something does not work in Design mode, and over the years on end back in minimal knowledge. Maybe just enough to make me dangerous... to myself.

  • FMS 4 HTTP dynamic streaming in the HTML5 &lt; video &gt; tag

    We recently bought FMS4 and I'm in the middle of the implementation.  However, not that it's a HUGE deal, but...

    I see conflicting answers in the forums on if yes or not it is possible to stream multimedia content in the < video > tag HTML5 (dating back to early 2010).

    Ideally, I would like to stream (most of the time using the flash), but for specific browsers that support it, (chrome, ff, IE9 and select iOS devices) HTML5 video tags.

    For example, FMS 4 can do that?

    < the video id = 'something' controls = "orders" >

    "< source src ="http://video.mydomain.com/vod/myMovie.mp4"type =" video/mp4; codecs = "avc1.42E01E, mp4a.40.2" "/ >"

    <!--[if IE]>

    < object > blah, blah, blah

    blah blah blah < embed > < / embed >

    < / object >

    <![endif]-->

    < / video >

    If so, how?  I gave it a shot using the code above (less the "blah, blah, blah' ) and the video plays not - if it is the case, it's a syntax error, then please be so kind as to provide the correct syntax.

    However, if this is not possible unless you download something else, like file HTTP streaming package manager or the module for HTTP Dynamic Streaming origin... Please direct me accordingly.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to you turn off auto-play the HTML5 videos in Safari?

    How to you turn off auto-play the HTML5 videos in Safari?

    I speak not of advertising videos.  It seems that there is a new trend that sites add the AutoPlay videos as part of their normal textual content.  It's really annoying to try to read the article and have this semi-connexes video game.

    Is there a Safari Extension or a hidden setting I'm not about to stop video AutoPlay altogether?

    Thank you

    There is a preference setting or an available extension.

  • Downloading a file, application/octet-stream mime type, I always get the dialog box "do you want to save to save this file?" Cancel or save.

    A number of us use a private site where run us an application in offline mode. The application offers a download button so that we can take a snapshot of our progress in offline mode, a sort of backup. When we'll be back online you can either download the information from the application or we can load the backup files.

    The problem is that every time we hit the download button, we always get the additional dialog box asking if we want to save or cancel the download of the file. It may sound a little silly, but we really do not want to have to move the mouse to the new dialog box and click on the "Save" button.

    The mime type of the file is application/octet-stream, there is no file extension.

    Is there a way to change the configuration of Firefox so that this dialog box does not appear?

    Thank you.

    My apologies, but I deleted all system information collected automatically because I am not in a position to submit this application for machines where the problem occurs.

    These system are:
    14:04.3 Ubuntu LTS
    Firefox 40.0.3

    Content of type "application/octet-stream" will cause always Firefox show the 'open with' Download dialogue.
    To avoid this download, you must configure the server to send another type of content and possibly change the file extension.

  • How to do HTML5 videos works again?

    I've recently updated for Firefox 35 and now HTML5 videos will not work. I have NoScript, but disabling or removing it does not solve the problem. Switching in safe mode does not solve the problem. The problem is solved using a fresh profile or removing the prefs.js file, but this is not an option for me, as all my settings from scratch would be tedious hassle with that I wouldn't rather deal with restoration.

    I know that the problem is with the update for Firefox 35 precisely because everything was working fine before and stopped working after. To be absolutely certain, I turned on my laptop that had the exact same extensions and settings imported to it from this computer with FEBE earlier. He used the 34.0.5 version and all was well with this version. I tested it with the site of the vine, all the videos worked. It also downloaded the update for Firefox 35 in the background and as soon as I restarted, the HTML5 videos were broken.

    It's certainly something that Mozilla has changed but I forgot to change/remove an old framework which is scrub place works. If I could just figure out which lines in the prefs.js file was causing the problem, I would delete/change myself in Notepad.

    For the record, I already had media.windows - media - foundation.enabled set to false. Videos that use Flash seem to work. I think Vimeo using HTML5, but it is the site of Flash videos not only that I could find that still works. Flash and Java have been updated the most recent versions.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    As I said, safe mode does not solve the problem. He is not one of my extensions. I tried to disable hardware acceleration earlier, but wasn't it no more.

    Your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.
    The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.

    It has only these two lines:
    user_pref ("protocol - handler.warn - external .dnUpdate", false);
    user_pref ("browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash", false);

    Sure they are related to the extension, so I don't touch them.

    There the prefs of media who do not by default?

    • Media.*. Enabled

    As I said, media - media.windows - foundation.enabled is set to false and it was the only entry with this search term that was not established by default. I changed to true and restarted and it fixed everything. Funniest, however, do the opposite was a solution proven for people with this problem in the past. This site says to do. You have said to do! https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/961627

    So, anyone read this for future use, you may or may not have changed this setting later in 2013. Firefox 35 requires you to change back. Problem solved.

    Of course, it does. Amazon has chosen not to support Safari, for reasons known only to them.
