  • Safari bookmarks file is missing

    OS: Yosemite 10.10.5

    Safari V9.1.1

I had a folder in my popular called bookmarks. It was visible on the taskbar Favorites at the top of the window.

It contained all my favorites work.

I just noticed he disappeared and does not appear when I open "edit bookmarks".

Of course, I want to find him.

I read some old threads on bookmarks disappearing, but even if I can find the bookmarks.plist file it looks like my folder missing isn't there.

Any help to find out if it is still a popular place. I think not that I have a Time Machine backup, unless there is an auto backup?

    Hello oldsailquik,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see your message that it turns out that a folder of bookmarks on your computer has been deleted by accident.  If you have no backup, then you can always try and retrieve bookmarks, as long as you use them with iCloud.

Restore your Safari bookmarks and reading list

    1. Go to settings on iCloud.com, then click on restore bookmarks (in the Advanced section).

Versions are sorted by date and time that they have been archived.

    2. To the right of the version that you want to restore, click on restore.

There may be several versions that can be shown at once. Scroll to see more.

Note: Wait until iCloud finished restoring your bookmarks from Safari and playlist until you change them. While they are being restored, any changes are not saved.

Restored bookmarks and playlist will appear on all your devices set up for iCloud Safari.

iCloud: restore your contacts, calendars and reminders, or bookmarks

    Have a good.

  • Firefox 9 bookmark icons missing

Firefox 9 bookmarks icons have disappeared. This seems to have occurred after update to version 9 for Mac Firefox. I have only a few Add-ons, that must not come into conflict with the display of icons. Bookmark menu bar icons still display, but not in the bookmarks dropdown.

This is a bug in Firefox 9. Here is how to fix until we have to fix:

    1. In the address bar, type about: config and press on return.

      • The subject: config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. #Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue on the subject: config page.
    2. In the filter section type, image.mem.decodeondraw
    3. Double-click the entry that results to change its value to "False".

  • Why my favorites appear actually when I click on the bookmark icon, but not when I click on "show all bookmarks"?

Something went this afternoon and when I started Firefox all my favorites have disappeared. I reinstalled Firefox and recovered my favorites. My bar on the top of the browser's back, and when I click on the bookmark icon, it shows all my favorites. However, if I click on show all bookmarks (ctrl-shift-B), none of my favorites appear. I have attached a screenshot to show what I see, but it seems that there is a corruption somewhere.

It is possible that they are all in a folder or hidden?

I hope that these help solve, please if you make changes to make a backup of the profile as well: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox

  • How can I make iOS safari bookmarks 9

How can I make a bookmark in Safari in iOS 9? My wife Samsung has bookmark icons that appear on the desktop. Can I do this?

To Add a site to your Favorites in Safari, follow these steps. First of all, make sure you are at the top of the Web page so that you can see the address bar. Look at the bottom and tap and HOLD the third icon (it looks like a page).

If you hold down the icon a popup appears:

  • Restore Safari bookmarks without time-Machine?

    Hello, all the

Out of nowhere, one of my main folders Safari bookmarks disappeared. I'm a fairly knowledgeable Mac user and have no idea how they were deleted.

I do usually external manual backups readers when I did some import an audio works and not very often otherwise (if I don't have a backup from a few months ago) but I added several important bookmarks since it went past 'poof '. It is also a way of saying that I have never set up Time Machine.

So, how can I restore my bookmark.plist over current (tonight) without Time Machine. I know that Firefox - when I used to use it - kept many old .plists and you could scroll just to find later. It seems that Safari would keep much as well even without Time Machine configuration. At least I hope so.

    Thank you

    MacBook Pro 10.8.5

    Safari 6.2.8

Is the .plist bookmark empty or missing?

If lack then a drive recovery application can be able of recovering them.

If it is empty while you are out of luck

  • I just downloaded Firefox and the command 'bookmark this page' does not appear in the bookmark icon.

When I downloaded, I also choose to import IE Favorites and they all appeared. When I opened the bookmark icon, the "mark this page" command is missing, so I can't to bookmark a page. Everything else seems normal. It is an old computer running XP.

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you are using the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).

You can see the difference if you use Alt + F to open the file menu and other menus such as the Edit (Alt + E) menu and the menu bookmark (Alt + B) and compare that to what you see, if you use the mouse to open the menu after the bar of menus visible by typing Alt or by pressing F10.

    • "To bookmark all tabs" (Shift + Ctrl + D) is no longer present in the menu bookmarks unless you open the bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
    • "To bookmark all tabs" are available through the context menu of a tab on the tab bar.
    • 'Bookmark this Page' is accessible through the context menu of the browser page.

  • I can't restore my Safari bookmarks

    Here's what I tried.

I opened the Terminal, Typ chflags nohidden ~ / library. Press return.

Then, I opened the folder enclosing the Bookmarks.plist file

Then I got into Time Machine.

When I get time Machine, there is no Bookmarks.plist.

    What Miss me?

The Bookmarks.plist is in the Safari folder in your user library. Is that where you were looking for?

  • How can I synchronize Safari bookmarks to iCloud account different?

We have two iPhones with accounts separate iCloud, as well as a few Macs.  Both Mac and iPhone share an iCloud account and have their Safari bookmarks synchronized via iCloud. But we would like another iPhone be synced to these favorites (probably not possible, I imagine), or at least to export bookmarks to another iPhone iCloud account, so they could be synchronized for the iPhone. I know how to export Safari bookmarks in Safari bookmarks html file, but how do to the account on another iPhone iCloud?  Would be sharing family take care of this?

Why not to export the bookmarks in a folder on one of the workstations, then after logging in with the ID you want to sync, transfer it into the folder recorded in the ID?

  • How can I delete a bookmarks icon in my toolbar?

When I updated Firefox by restoring the default, my bookmarks in the bookmarks bar reappears with icons. I had previously removed to shorten the space that each bookmark has taken in the toolbar. Now all my favourites from the toolbar do not fit in the toolbar. I want to go back and delete the icons, but none of the customizations, properties or options have a way to do it.

This can be done through the addon remove the bookmark icons for Firefox.

  • My Bookmark icon changed in my pocket, I want as my favorites back

  • Where are my bookmark icons?

Where are my icons for my favorites? If I click on a bookmark icon dose not update. I know that some will never have an icon.
Most of them have Favorites icons when I boot in win7, but no victory 8, 8.1, win10, or XP on my system in multiboot. I use firefox sync and sync bookmarks to the top but not the icons. See the screen shot attached photo of win8.1

You can find "Reload-icons of Favorites" in the bookmarks menu.

  • The bookmark icons disappear.

Two weeks ago, my bookmark icons is more available. I looked for a solution and tried to click each bookmark to make the icons to come back, which they did. Now, they are now once more disappeared. Is there something that can be done?

If the site does not have a favicon then your only option for a little entertainment is to provide a favicon yourself.
You can check by opening the link in a tab and check the favicon in the tab bar.
