  I work with files from another company. All InDesign files have links in the links with no extensions palette. The real link themselves files HAVE extensions (mostly .jpg, .psd, .ai, .pdf, etc.). All links appear as absent, and when I try to recreate a link to them that I have to do them all individually, even if all the necessary links are in the same folder (WITH extensions). I tried 'Re-edit to Folder' and "File to repeat Extension", but because there is not an extension as a first step, it simply doesn't. It's really time to recreate a link to them one at a time, since there are about 40 files InDesign averaged around 40 links each.

  I have only one possibility for this file in question, given that links are provided. The file name corresponds perfectly with what is displayed in the links Panel, except for the extension. For example, "CBZ70.howtoshootbw.beach1" appears in the links Panel, and I want to make a link to "CBZ70.howtoshootbw.beach1.jpg". I know additional periods in the file name is a big no-no. This is another unfortunate aspect of the project. This is the naming convention used for hundreds of links. I have the software for renaming batch files, but for this project, I really want to avoid changing the names of files. It's the first of the 12 projects similar, all with the same problem, so my hope is to find a solution that will help both now and in the future.

  You can test this? I do not have a file by hand with links with missing extensions (and the subfolders to start), but according to the debug output it expected to lean down in some files are there.

  You will need to correct the links that begin with "file".

  Now that your site has been defined, you just delete the bad links and DW left write the good ones for you.

  Click on the yellow folder on the property inspector, and then select the target page.

  

  If your site is small, you can edit the links manually (remove the part in red)

  content.htm file:///C:/desktop/localRootFolder/subfolder/subfolder/images/

  It would be useful that post you your code on the page so that we can see if you use the old technique or new for these links.

  Sure. Go to the bindings panel (window > bindings). Click on the link. Go to the menu of the links Panel (top-right) and choose Embed link.

  I found the answer myself via chat. the answer is Yes, you can cancel, but you must pay 50% of the remaining months of the annual contract

  So I an indesign document with a linked bouquet HAVE files that all have the same fonts in the same colors (white and yellow light) on the same color background.

  earlier this week I printed without problem. Since then, I've added a few notes here and there and I printed again, and now most of the white text does not appear in print, some emissions upward barely, and some looks carved in relief in the background color. the purple printed yellow text. If I saw the text it prints very well.

  the text which weent evil, I has not changed since before when she printed correctly. my colleague had also printed a copy of a pdf file that I've done in indesign with the same results.

  It's about indesign cs4 with bound AI cs4 files in mac os x lion.

  If the yellow text printed purple then maybe the yellow text has been set to overprint.

  Maybe it's just the preview screen

  Try view > display performance > high quality display

  Check also that the effective PPI of the image shows in your links Panel.

• Missing link on the PB

  Whenever I open a document created by another person, based on a model she inherited, the missing links, dialog box appears indicating an image on the PB is no longer tied. I have tried everything I can think of expand PB and looking image, but nothing helped. Even looking at the image, it is not an image, I recognize any publication created from this original model. Any ideas? Is there a way to simply remove the picture in the window?

  Are all visible layers and have you looked on the master page?

  I have a folder containing 14 files in sync and have created a link to them using "create a link" - it gives me the link to send and enter an email address, it sends the link - but when I go to a browser and try to view the link I get this message "we're sorry, there was erred retrieve the State of Division of assets." "Please try again later."  and now impossible to create a new link that work - files are synchronized and well - it's a common problem

  We pushed a fix direct and verified for many customers. If you still encounter an answer please problem.

  Hi I have updated an Animation on board. I already put it in a Muse file that has not yet been published. The animation has been refined a bit and now the changes not reflected in the file of Muse.   I suggest to try two things:

  • (If it isn't already) convert the text in the file Edge curves
  • Export under a different name and a link to that on the contrary

• "Recreate a link to the files automatically" does not

  Recently, I have re-wrapped 1000 + Cineform AVI files Cineform MOV files to take advantage of the native support PP Cineform MOV files.  The names of files remained exactly the same, but the file extension changed to AVI to MOV format.  I'm trying to add a link to AVI files now for re-packed MOV files offline and have no chance.  He wants me to add a link to each one manually.  Not good for 1000 files +.  In the dialog "link media", I "Filename" checked and "others connect automatically." "" File extension"is not checked.  I'm doing something wrong or is this a bug?  Thanks for any help!

  I have seen others with this problem. don't know why this does not work, or if others found a fix...

  what you can try is to modify the project file manually to change the names of .avi into .mov files.  first make a backup of the project file.

  the .prproj file is a compressed xml, so rename it to .zip and extract it. Open this file in a text editor and replace by .mov .avi that will allow some text editors to replace all.  then rename the .prproj file and open with first.   If you need programs to do this, 7zip and notepad ++ are free programs.
