Missing photos in lightroom

I did what is obvious: how to find missing pictures in Photoshop Lightroom and seen other issues here, but these answers do not work.

Yes, the pictures are on an external drive.  I have 16 TB on a LAN Server and almost less on my Mac, so I keep them there.  Or, I would.  The problem is that when I run Lightroom again once, it does not find the import of old.  By clicking on the "!" icon can lead me to the finder window 'Select file' - one at a time.  Even after you have selected the right file, enter the mode however, develop gives always the message "the file is not found."  Is it possible to have Lightroom just where in the heck he was looking for in the first place?

More googling autour later, I found the answer: select the folder in library mode and then ' library-> synchronize folder "becomes available.  Voila.  A bit too non-obvious.  Given the complexity of Lightroom as a whole, I'm not sure have a good suggestion for a fix of LR.  Maybe looking for the question at boot time and set up a suggestion window?  A nice and sweet Boner in other words.

  • Help! Keywords and changes of my suddenly missing photos in Lightroom 5.7

    Hello

I have a problem with my Lightroom 5.7 for which I really hope to receive a solution.

I just noticed that some of the keywords and the changes that I made my pictures have disappeared. By changes, I mean things that you in the view to develop, such as the adjustment of brightness, contrast, saturation and noise reduction. They just do not appear in Lightroom more even though I know that I have modified these photos. Also when I try to export these photos, the changes that I made once aren't there.

This problem appears only with some of my folders, 16 files among hundreds to be exact. 15 of these folders are located side by side on the folder view, and a folder is in another place. In most cases, both keywords and the changes of all the photos have disappeared. In some cases, key words remained miraculously while only the changes disappeared.

I don't know where this problem began or occurred. Today, I use Windows 10, but a month ago I always had Windows 8. I don't know if changing Windows 10 could have something to do with it. All missing modifyings was carried out before the windows 10 updated, but here again so were hundreds of other changes that have not disappeared. The files are located on an external hard drive on which I store all my photos.

What someone has an idea of what I could do to restore missing keywords and the changes in the photos? I would appreciate your help.

I already tried to synchronize folders and change the USB portal on which my external hard drive is attached to, but without any result.

I made several backup copies of my Lightroom, as always, it indicates what closing the program, but the restore of a backup probably would lose all of my facts and recent gestures on Lightroom, so I'm reluctant on using this option.

  • Add option missing photos in lightroom widget

I have attached a picture of an old out tutorial on YouTube about the creation of a viewer in Adobe Muse.

We took the latest version of Adobe Muse CC and if I try to create a lightbox, photo display empty or anything else of a photo gallery, I NOT give me an option 'Add images' as in the example that I put below.

It is possible that Adobe has abolished it but I don't know why they would do?  Can someone help me please.  I'm not checking the correct window in order to get the 'Options' window is displayed when you click the blue/white?  What I get is a window 'Options rude' select any container.  And once again, NOWHERE in that window, I gives me an option to download or add photos.

    Lightbox Photo Upload Options.JPG

    Hello

In my opinion, you are using the widgets of composition not the slideshow widgets.

The two are different and slideshow widget has options to add images.

Please check the screenshot below showing the different places to find them.

  • Importing and organizing photo files lightroom 5 for the first time. Clean photo hard drive files

I have a trial version of lightroom 5 and would like one once and forall to restore order to my two drives hard and lightroom 5 collection. Some photos in lightroom 5 seem to have lost their way. Some are in folders of Windows 7 and others are 9 elements. I made backup copies of some records and would like to have a more systematic approach to save them in the future. I have a NAS (network access storage) device and an additional hard drive, I thought that it would be better to use my cell phone as main for my photo files working memory such that it would be faster to work with the NAS or external and then again everything down to the NAS and external. I consider that the main challenge group all files and as much as possible to preserve the sides I gave photos; I would like to eliminate duplicats. on both the hard drive and in lightroom. I watched one of the vidios of initial training on the 'library' of the adobe help section and the presenter talked about two ways to import photos. the first and I think that I will use in the future is to open lightroom and import from the SD directly rather than having the Windows 7 import, and then ask to lightroom to find them. If anyone Kow of an exhaustive enumeration of the instructions on how to clean up my hard drives that would be extremely useful? Peter

I doubt that it is a list of instructions to wipe a hard drive, because each starting situation is different and your 'own' is probably very different than my "clean".

But let's clear up a few things first. From your writings, it seems that you think that you have stored pictures in post-secondary education and photos stored in LR. This is not correct. None of these programs to store your photos. All your pictures are on your hard drive, in folders, somewhere.

Regarding the missing photos in Lightroom, when you move or rename your photos and folders outside of the Lightroom, Lightroom doesn't know where they are and bring back them as being absent. To fix it, see: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm related to that, you don't want to 'clean up' things in Windows and also "clean things" upward in Lightroom. Instead, once you import photos into Lightroom, you must do all the managing photos in Lightroom, not Windows, otherwise you'll just create several missing files.

Regarding duplicates, Lightroom has some tools to detect duplicates. He will try to prevent duplicates during the import, and if you are unable to import duplicates, you can use the "auto stack by Capture time" to try to find additional duplicates. But if those who do not work, then're it pretty much on your own.

With regard to put photos on your laptop to work on them rather than on your external hard drive, I think you will find that this gives a fraction of a second speed improvement that you may even not notice, which will be offset by the time you spend moving somewhere else photos when finished. So just put the photos in their final destination on your external HD or a NAS file and don't bother moving them to the internal HD.

Which leads to another point. Once you have done this 'cleaning', your workflow should be to put the photos in a place and then do not transfer! (Exception: not enough space on the disk or moving to another drive/computer) Make your life easier as possible.

One last point: seriously consider using keywords and other metadata for the Organization, rather than move photos/files from here to there, to reach the organization. These tools in Lightroom will give you the possibility of organizing in a much more powerful and flexible organization and what you can do by moving the photos/files from here to there. (Note: If you want all the photos in a sort of centralized location because it meets your storage needs, can do that because it meets your storage needs.) In this collection of photos in a centralized location, using keywords and other metadata to achieve organization and research)

  • missing photos see nothing in the lightroom images 6

    Hi, I need someone's help

I got light Room 5 and made a backup for all photos on ex player

I have a total crash of my hard drive that I install a new lightroom cc 6 when I restore the pictures I got that name and records with missing photos pictures cannot see anything inside in the frames

I tried to find missing pictures but without success

I had not noticed the little exclamation point [!] next to all your thumbnails gray when I gave my notice earlier. Of course Akash is fair, because there is also an indicator of lack-photo, the gray because your original photos are not where LR think they should be and there are no previews, more, but as the original photos are gone, LR cannot calculate a new preview thumbnails and can only see the gray.

You need to know where your photos are really, what device and the drive letter, and recreate a link for them the way assani see the answer (s).

Pictures are not stored within LR, LR just remembers where they were when you imported the.

Where are you located photographs, which hard drive?

If they were on the hard drive crashed and all the contents of that hard drive have been deleted then the photos have disappeared, unless you have a backup of them and them have copied on the hard disk in the same places where they were before.

If the photos were on an external hard drive, then the only problem is that the drive letter for this external hard drive is different now that the OS has been rebuilt and assani instructions should work.  Or you can use disk management to change the drive letter of the disk to what it was before.

It would be useful to have the area of the Panel records expanded so that we can see where LR thinks the pictures are, C: or somewhere else.

  • 'Photos is Missing' message in Lightroom after the deletion of the image files

All my photos show the 'missing' message when I try to raise them.  Have you tried all the recommendations through the library, by clicking on the exclamation, etc..  Everything takes back me to my office whose photos have been imported originally, but have since been removed.  Any ideas?   I have 5.7.1, the update for which I just downloaded.

Well Lightroom never stores the original image file in the catalog.

It only stores the information on the w. (Rental, edicts, keywords, Labels etc) of the imported images

If the original images have been deleted / moved that the images will go missing inside the Lightroom.

I'm afraid that if you deleted the images, you will need to re import since the backup. If you still have a copy of the images.

    Thank you

  • Missing files in Lightroom 5, files appear in 'Missing photos.

I have total 27 000 photos, and 5500 of them are listed under "Missing photographs." If their records are listed in everything, there is none? to indicate that LR is not records.

I know how to reconnect missing photos by clicking on the! and asking LR also find nearby photos.  But it does not work with the exception of the single selected photo, no other photos are located even if they are in the same folder on the hard disk.  I can do this for each of the 5500 photos separately, but it will take about 24 hours.  I'm looking for another way.  To be clear, the corresponding files are not listed in LR or are listed without one? and contain only a fraction of the photos in the folder source hard disk.

I suspect that the reason why 'Find nearby photos' does not work is the catalog think they are in a different folder of the photo of the target.  For example, the figure shows a sequence of three adjacent "Missing pictures" in LR.  DSC08178 photo is actually in the "Viking cruise" folder on the hard disk while it is indicated as being in the 'cruise Baltic.  The pictures on each side of it are correctly displayed as being in the "Viking cruise" folder because I already spotted by clicking on the!, then their location on the hard disk WITH 'FIND the PHOTOS' NEARBY SELECTED.  Funny, these "found photos" still appear as "missing images" even if they now appear in the LR library under the folder "Viking cruise".

In past discussions in the research, I find a common suggestion when the catalog was confusing to delete the preferences file.  I have not tried because I doubt that it will work.  I keep my photos and catalog on an external HD which I move from desktop to laptop computer, depends on the question of whether I'm at home or on a trip.  Of course, these two machines (both are Macs) is located in the preferences file, but the same problem occurs on each machine. It is difficult to imagine that the two would be has been corrupted at the same time and in the same way.  I think that it is a corruption of the catalog file itself.

If this is true, I have a possible solution.  If someone has a better idea or think that my fixed does not work, please tell me.  But it's my idea:

Applications to problems are several years so that the problem is as far as I KNOW recent old.  I have files of backup catalog dating back to a few months.  They have all these old photos changes.  So if I can find one of these catalog uncorrupted files, I will be removed all files EXCEPT the problem files.  Then I ONLY deletes records of problem of the current catalog.  Finally, I combine two catalogs.

Will this work?  Are there unforeseen problems (by me)?  Is there an another, perhaps better, difficulty?

Can't you just click right on line 'Missing Photos' under 'Catalogue', and select Remove from this temporary Collection?

Another simple solution is to simply ignore it.

  • I automatically imported my Photoshop Elements photos in Lightroom, but the captions are missing. How to recover?

I've been using Photoshop Elements on my PC and to access the photos on the web with Revel. With the imminent disappearance of Revel, I moved to the photograph of the cloud creative plan. In the process, I just imported my items photos in Lightroom. Unfortunately, the photos do not show their legends in Lightroom. How to recover?

    Hello

Yes, you can see the caption under the pictures in mode in the library grid.

Go to the view menu > options > check "Show grid Extras" > make sure legend is selected under low label under Compact cell Extras.

You can double-click any image in the library module to view it in full screen and double click again to return to the display of the grid.

  • Problem with Find is close to missing Photos

First of all, I saw the post where the OP posted that he renamed photos and then the ability to find nearby missing Photos wasn't working.

I had the photos that were on a network drive and I copied pictures on a disc hard so that I can work faster.  After all my changes, I've deleted the local copy of the raw files.  I thought I could just click on the '!' icon on a single photo, and a link back to the raw file that is on my network drive.

The problem that I am running is only the picture that I chose is related even though the ability to find nearby missing Photos is on.  I've not renamed my raw sort files.  Right now, I'm linking each file one at a time and I have to go through 130 raw files.  I just wanted to check here to see if there is another solution.

If all goes well, I'll get one before finishing through each file one by one

    Thank you

    Ron

You can reconnect entire folders by right-clicking on the folder and selecting "Update folder location"

However, you create your own problems here, which can easily be avoided. Editing in Lightroom is NOT faster when the photo is saved to a local drive. You will find that there is no difference noticeable photo editing on a network rather than the pictures on a local disk. So the solution in the future is simple... let the pictures on the network drive.

  • How to find all photos in Lightroom where the original file is not found?

    Greetings

I know there are a lot of pictures in my library in Lightroom where the original file is not found. How can I find all the photos for which this is the case? In other words, I see the exclamation point error in the upper right part of some photos and I would like to find all photos that have this condition so that I can link them to the originals.

    Thank you

In the library Module, chose the menu library/search all missing Photos

  • Find nearby missing Photos does not not LR 2015.6.1

I renamed a bunch of photos in the same folder and of course, they were all marked with the! I did the location and made sure the box to find pictures of missing nearby has been verified.  I confirmed that one I found was the one I wanted.  The! that this photo was removed.  I tried several times more in this batch and only meet every time.  This feature worked like a charm in all iterations of LR, I have used for years.  Why is it stopped now?  I forgot something?

When you rename them outside of Lightroom how Lr is supposed to know which file goes with which newly renamed file.  I think that only works well to find nearby missing Photos (or does that) If you go just a bunch of files, but they have their original names.  You will probably need to do this one at a time.

  • The name of the missing photo is missing in the upper part of the finder window, when you search for the missing photo.

Until this version, the name of a missing photo was shown in the upper part of the finder window looking for the missing file. This was very helpful during the search, Miss me ;(
