mix server hardware

Hello

We have 3 HP DL580 G5 with Intel Xeon E7450 processor and controller (2-6 cores) CPU with 128 GB of RAM

now, we want to add a DELL Poweredge R900 with Intel XEON E7450 processor and controller (4 to 6 carrots) with now 32 GB of RAM (update to 128 GB)

is it possible to add this machine to the existing cluster?

Hahaha Yes...

  • Move Adobe Connect 7.5 to new server hardware

What is the process to move Adobe Connect to a new server hardware. We are running Adobe Connect Pro 7.5 (7.5.1.0.100) on a Win2K3 SP2 server. We would like to fly over Connect to a new server hardware running Win2K8 R2 (64-bit). The Connect database will remain on a separate Win2K3 SP2 / Server sp4 of SQL 2005.

Unless there's a problem, the NETBIOS name of the computer will be different. However, the IP address and domain name FULL will remain the same.

What is the recommended procedure to achieve this?

PS - Shortly after moving to new hardware, we are planning to upgrade to Connect 8. Is it better to upgrade first, then move to new hardware? Or vice versa?

    Hello

moving to new hardware is basically a new installation on the new server, and then passing on the saved content, and then reconnect to the database.

It makes no difference if you update first and then move material or play first and then upgrade. I play first and make sure Connect works very well on new hardware, and then upgrade.

Here are some steps which should work.

    1. make sure that your new hardware, OS and SQL Server are supported

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/connect/8.0/installconfigure/connect_8_install.PDF

    (7.5 check the requirements here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnectpro/systemreqs/#proserver )

    2. make a backup of your current content directory and all custom configuration files.

(config files will be a reference to restore SSL or other changes, not just move them at once updated).

    3. make a backup of your database and make sure you know the login and the password for your SQL Server.

4 stop the services on the old server

    5. If moving DB, attach your DB Backup to the new host SQL.
    6. install Connect on the new hardware.

    7. do not start the services again, first restore the backup content.

8 start services, bring up the console and connect to the DB.

    9. check your settings in the console, a reboot may be necessary first.

    10. do not load the login page?

    11. follow the installation guide for step 1 for re - apply SSL config if necessary (in Connect 8 it is slightly different from that of C7)

Change the name of windows machine, may cause some trouble, not always, but it is easier to use just the name of the new material.

If this isn't an option, an entry in the DB conenct must be updated:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/407/kb407446.html

I'm pretty sure that these steps will work, but can't test this and I don't know your exact environment, so I can give no guarantee that this will work. It is always good to simply moving to a new test equipment and if things go wrong, bring back the old system of support of production and contact.

    Good luck!

  • Windows Home Server - Hardware requirements

    Good afternoon

I am interested in creating a solution of Windows Home Server. I bought a Windows Home Server 2007 OEM media with the intention of creating my own solution, but never got around him a few years ago. My question for the community is the following: what are the hardware requirements for this solution?

For me, it's a question I think I should know, but for some reason any I am at a loss! I think I need at least 2 computers. The first is the server itself, the second is a stand-alone computer that connects to the network.

If you can give me some of the basic information I should know before diving into the Home Server I would really appreciate it. If you have all cards/articles that can help you with representation on what I need to do this would be as phenomenal.

    Thank you in advance!

I confess that I've never used WHS and have no idea about it but. I did some research on Google and found this: http://homeservershow.com/full-tutorial-on-how-to-install-and-setup-whs-version-1.html introduction which then link a fuller version here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9659/how-to-install-and-setup-windows-home-server/

  • First time user VMware - perhaps a silly question re: server hardware

    Thus,.

I started using VMware a couple of days for the tests. I have a client who has VMware ESX Server 3i installed they have a HP Server and I have a Dell Server I installed the same version of VMware ESXi.

If I download their images run on Dell Server? Or is it that there is a problem?

    Rgds

    Chris

PS - Sorry if this is a silly question

    Chris,

That's what VMware call the independence of the material. http://www.VMware.com/virtualization/virtual-machine.html#c25953

Basically, your VM has no knowledge of what is running on the hardware - so feel free to move to Dell for HP hardware and back.

However - vMotion, the displacement of an engine on the virtual machine from one server to another server requires similar processors on both hosts.

    I hope this helps.

  • Impossible to vCenter Server Hardware...

Recently, we have completed our 3.5 ESX vSphere upgrade. Everything went well with one exception. Rather than updating our old virtual Center Server, we have created a new virtual machine with the new vSphere vCenter server on it and move our host from the old to the new. Home updates went well, and we have all our VM is updated (tools and equipment) to the VM EXCEPTION of the vCenter server. Because we created as a VM on a host 3.5 (before that we have improved the hosts). He was the former VM tools and hardware of the virtual computer. Because the virtual computer runs the server vCenter Server, we can remedy this using the Update Manager. The VM tools can be upgraded manually, but I don't know how to upgrade the virtual machine hardware manually (i.e. withouth running Update Manager - Update Manager runs on our server vCenter Server and to upgrade the hardware, stop...).

Is it possible to convert this old hardware (v4) box for the new hardware (v7) so that all our VM is successfully upgraded without using the Update Manager?

If you right-click on a Windows virtual machine turned off, you should see the option to "Upgrade virtual hardware".  You can also check the current version of HW by choosing "Change settings" and looking in the upper right.

  • Appropriate for the EZVPN server hardware

Cisco seems to be so deeply wave on the features of vpn of their range ISR G2 I need to reach out and ask for some advice from seasoned experts in this forum.  I need to properly size an EZVPN server for a site 75 VPN WAN with tunnels ranging from 1.5 to 5 Mbps.  The liklihood said one of these tunnels uses 100% of its capacity for any measurable period of time is not very good.  I believe the 95th percentile for each of these tunnels to be less than 1 Mbps download and perhaps 500 kbps upload.  Can anyone provide some advise or direct me to the elusive documentation that would allow me to make a decent comparison?  I was watching another 2900 SRI series or an ASA5510, but without more details about SRI, it's all guesswork.

    Well, based on this thread:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/thread/344391

appears: "with IPSEC/AES, we make 848Mbps on a 3945 and packages 1400 bytes and the 2900 s ranges from 150-280Mbps more or less depending on which 2900.»

Also, refer to the doc attached... seems useful.

For more information about 2900 in particular routers, you can take a look at the data sheet as well:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/routers/ps10537/data_sheet_c78_553896.html

The truth is that we can't really give an exact answer to your question. It depends on the environment that the router is deployed, in the kind of traffic that it treats and type/volume configuration on it as well.

Sorry, could not be of more help with that!

  • A clustrer function of Intel and AMD mixed server ESXi does

I have a HP DL380p G8 which has 2 intel xeon CPUs (8 cores) and another HP DL385 G7 server with 1 CPU AMD Opteron 6134 (8 cores). Not now take place ESXi. We plan virtualization. Based on the VMware compatibility guide, two of these servers are ESXi 5.x supported. Although he said that the DL385 G7 needs 2 CPUs. Is this correct?

We do not have a lot of servers and according to virtualize, three ESXi servers be enough. Can I get an another DL380p of the G8 and have a cluster of two servers Intel ESXi based and a base of AMD server or all three servers should I run the same processor/vendor?

    Thank you.

    A.

Cluster of features such as vMotion (live migration) require processors from the same provider, supporting a common mode of EVC.

Where did you read that the AMD need hosts two processors? Currently I'm not aware of such a requirement.

  • New vCenter Server Hardware

    Hello

I go to the construction of a new vCenter server to my upgrade to vSphere 5.  The server vCenter 4.1 existing will be decommisioned and a new vCenter 5 installed.  I will keep the existing SQL database however.

All settings are since I was on the existing DB?  I don't need to execute one of this batch of data migration tool file I do?

If you use an existing DB, you all that you need to do is create your ODBC connection, test it and install vCenter ' help and existing DB.  VCenter all the setting is preserved.

The existing DB is external to the vCenter Server Correct?

  • Choice of server hardware

Then, I got a budget to upgrade my ESX environment... currently I have three HP DL380 G5 servers.  Intend to replace them with the new 4-5 hosts and move the existing to my DR environment.

I have specced on some DL380 G7s, and then as I have to present the numbers of the food chain, I realized that he had to ask an important question.

Why 380s?  Why not tell... 180 s?  There is a significant price difference.

The 380s seem to have several slots extension in them and a greater total capacity (RAM slots, for example)... which is as far as I know, the only important difference.

Someone at - it ideas as to why I shouldn't buy 180 s instead of 380 s, if I'm not planning on getting more 40 (ish) gb of RAM in each host?  Both have the expansion slots that I need for a quad port NIC and two adapters fiber host bus.  Both have enough catch/processor cores.

    DL180 G6:

    http://h10010.www1.HP.com/wwpc/us/en/SM/WF06a/15351-15351-3328412-241644-3328421-3884339.html

    DL380 G7:

    http://h10010.www1.HP.com/wwpc/us/en/SM/WF06a/15351-15351-3328412-241644-241475-4091412.html

Remember that it is the latest version of ESX. Beyond 4.1 your only choice will be ESXi.

The 180 supports large format readers. Probably not important in a shared storage environment. The 180 uses 100 ILO and, at least in previous models, does not support hardware CIM as the ILO comments in the 380. If is not on the HCL it is no more on the support list of HPs. The problems that you might encounter will have less attention than a device in the HCL. Involves less hair pulling problem. Cream hair restoration can be costly.

  • Server 2008 connection between buildings

    Hi all

It could be very simple, but I missed something. I did some exams Microsoft, XP and Windows 7, and have just started on 2008 server hardware.

My question is how to connect 2 domain controllers in 2 places. I know that I can use VPN to switch, but which would allow replication?

To help me understand the course material I've implemented 2 r2 server machines 2008. One in my house and the other to a friends and I have a domain name, can I use. I installed active directory and dns is the next step.

    Thanks in advance.

Randomly the DNS server stops just in response to DNS queries.

Clients receive Error 1014: no DNS servers responded ORS

After a few minutes, I can retry the command NSlookup and return works.

All Windows updates have been installed on the server and the clients.

This server / configuration is only 2 months old.  New server hardware and software.  Replace Windows SBS 2003.  Customers have been the same.

Tried to disable all anti-virus, disabling all services necessary, re-configured to use only one network card.  The problem is more common that a new server has just arrived.

I have no idea where to go from here.

    Thank you

The problem ended up being the on the DNS server.  The local ISP changed the DNS server address and the forwarder was not set correctly on the DNS server.

    Thanks for all the support.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2, with two Windows Storage Server 2003 Standard: How can I add the MAC authentication on top of Active Directory authentication for a storage servers?

I have two running Windows Storage Server 2003 storage servers in a domain R2 Windows Server 2008 Standard.  On top of the Active Directory authentication, I want to add authentication of MAC address for the access to one of the storage servers.  In this scenario, an authenticated user is unable to log on to the target storage server unless the user is also on one of the computers MAC address accepted.  All domain users will have access to other folders and files as configuration storage server in Active Directory.  I already have a user access to installation by the permissions for folders on the storage server target, but I still want to restrict access to specific computers as well.  For what it's worth the server hardware is HP Proliant DL360 G5 for the Standard Server 2008 R2 and server HP Proliant DL185 G5 for two Storage Server 2003 computers.  I don't want to have MAC address authentication as the main means of access control to the network, only for the storage server a as an addition to control Active Directory.
