  We are able to see all the warehouses of data, local, FC, and NFS in VC.

  We have added VC as an endpoint in VCAC, but we are not able to see the VCAC CF data warehouses.

  Anyone can throw some light on it?

  Hi all

  I'm currently building an ESX 5.5 environment to run in parallel with my environment 4.1 existing and need the new 5.5 ESX servers to connect via iSCSI to a couple of VMFS3 formatted lun.

  I can't see them via the iSCSI storage adapter, but when I try to mount it asks me to format first. I wanted to confirm if anyone else had this problem or has confirmed that VMFS3 is fully compatible with ESX 5.5 connected via iSCSI.

  Looks like that the MTU on my NICs is set too high. Once I lowered around 1500, they began to present correct data warehouses.

  I am writing a report snapshot, and one of the things that I wanted to recover the total size (MB) of snapshots.  I am currently using SearchDatastoreSubFolders_Task for a list of DELTA files.

  According to the list of data get-datastore = 1 stores.  Same result when viewing through the VI client.  I see that the .vmx of the virtual machine has the info, I need, but I don't want to use a sealant to get this data.  Ideas on how I can list all the names of data store when a snapshot is?

  What you see is actually "working as intended".

  Each VM has a property called SnapshotDirectory, which by default is "directory" virtual machine.

  The result is that, after a snapshot of the 'new' disk file that saves the changes since the snapshot is located in the base directory of the virtual machine.

  To calculate the size of all the files of the virtual machine is using a first, you will need to know on what other warehouses of data/directory there are files present.

  This can be done through the Layout.Disk.DiskFile property.

  The following script shows how to access this property.

• NSX on several areas of network in a vSphere Cluster

  I'm a noob in NSX. I read articles regarding the application of the NSX. but this is what keeps me thinking, how would implement NSX on an environment with a multiple secure area in a single cluster, as I used to do using vDS?

  say, I have a 32 cluster nodes. This cluster have 4 vDS, each vDS represents a network (zone1, zone2, dmz1, dmz2) box.

  Management, vMotion, FT vmknics have been isolated with natachasery dedicated using vSwitch (standard).

  each vDS has its own natachasery as uplinks

  each host have 8 natachasery.

  I guess because you have separated 4 vDS you want keep them isolated form between them.  You can always do it in the NSX.  If for example your Vds 4 1 was for a cluster management or the plain of management you can create a zone of transport for each of the other 3 to connect to the planning area to then be connected to a centralized dashboard bridge so they could then be connected to the outside world.  Edge gateway contains firewalls etc so no need to worry about this.  IF you were really concerned you can dpely a gateway to edge to each of the vDS and not connect at all and just have the area with the logical switches to that for VDS vDS and then have a gateway of edge to the breast.

  There are really a lot of options.  Between the distributed firewall and the firewall gateways of edge, you may even be able to simplify things.

• Deletion of data that are shared with multiple clusters warehouses

  Our ESX servers have initially setup by adding all the LUNS in three groups. Cluster 1, 2 and 3 all see the same disks.

  We are redesigning our design and would like to delete unused data from the cluster 2 warehouses.

  My question is, by deleting data warehouses in Group 2 will affect the data in cluster 1 or 3 warehouses?

  Are you thinking of clicking on delete storage page?  If so, Yes will delete the partition on this volume.  Which will affect the volume and everything that uses it.

  I went through a similar process last year.  What I ended up doing removed access to the volumes of the servers that I didn't want more access and restart the hosts one by one.  I think this is the way you want to go.

  With ESX 3.5, I was unable to find a way to connect to the host on the volume.  ESX 4 looks like it will be possible.

  What I often find that alerts latency for data warehouses are related to CONSIDERING moves. Need large pieces of mobile data respond to a project. Are your warehouses of data showing high without cause latency? for long periods of time?

  I have the internal team of vcenter provide guidance on what they consider the latency for ps read and write ps and make these TOUGH KPI threshold in vcops. So when an alert occurs it is a matter of understanding unplanned planned vs, so it's a matter of drilling data with your experts.

  In my humble OPINION - be admin on vcops does not mean that you know the environment better than your teams... This means that you have useful data to share and then develop the best levels together and the SOP for what latency occurs and the steps to follow. We working through such things now... and test the adapter for Symmetrix. Looking is not on the HBA level so miss us some key data points, but we are working on the adapter to txt and other methods to get better data in vcops.

I unfortunately had a number of DTS data warehouses attached to the host, no virtual machine is running from these storages of data on this host... I'm trying to disassemble stores but as expected get the error indicating that data warehouses are part of a cluster of EIM.

  Is it possible to no disturbance delete Host data warehouses.

  So, what you want, remove some cluster DTS data warehouses and pass a host of a DRS cluster to another's is?

  Try the following steps:

  (1) remove the DTS cluster data warehouses, just move the data store outside the cluster for DTS;

  (2) move the host to the new DRS cluster target, if you have virtual machines running on it and cannot put the host in maintenance mode, you will need disconnect host, remove from the inventory and then add the host again to the new cluster.

  (3) If you wish, add data warehouses to the DTS of the new DRS cluster cluster.

  I have two devices POS running version: 5.5.5.180.

  All of a sudden I can not connect to the Web Client for each device.

  POS status show all services in green on the two Pdvs.

  Open a support case and turned out that the POS password user (a user defined in the domain of the @vsphere.local) that was used to access the vCenter has expired. Apparently, there's a bug in vCenter for some versions that makes them expire in 65 days.

  I tried vCOPS in the past and I know that this was not possible.

  I just started a trial now, but I still want to exclude all data warehouses and a couple more which come from a file server that is always 99% full. These data warehouses are not used for virtual machines and shouldn't affect calculations in vCOPS.

  Is there a way to exclude the calculations? Thank you.

  Put all your data warehouses in vCenter the in a folder called "LOCALS" (or something else you like) - this folder will also be known by the VCOPS (may take 5 minutes). Then in VCOPS create a new strategy and clone of "Ignore these objects." On the page of the association take place 'record' and add your folder "INHABITANTS". Check 'current effective policy', it must be on "ignore objects.

  Now, whenever you add a host to vCenter, make sure you put this local data store in the right folder "INHABITANTS". This way you will have exclude them calculations.

  You need to come to a conclusion of performance tests.

  The query can also have different points of view;

  In most cases; getting data from data warehouses should give better performance since then.
  Data warehouses allocate more resources toward BI systems.
  Source systems serve much purpose other than BI systems; If resources are shared.
  In a data warehouse for data sets are already in the same place, reducing the latency of the network.
  Data warehouse stores summary information.
  Data warehouses are implemented with three-dimensional models which serves best for the BI queries.

  We have several virtual machines with disks on different data stores for reasons RAID.

  Last night, we found that the snapshots of all disks are left on the data store main vmx and not on each datastore disk.

  How will we change this as our OS data warehouses are small and run out of space when running shadow copies?

  You can change the location of snapshots, but they will all go to this place - as far as I know, you cannot change the location of each disk.

  I've been trying to write a code that lists all data warehouses in use by each cluster but little progress with it (I know that data warehouses are not a property of the bunch and I need to interogate each vmhost cluster for the info to store data but imreally+ bad)... Ideally I am looking for a similar to the following output in a CSV file:

  I had the same problem. At the same time hold the screen lock button and the home button until your iPhone restarts. That solved the problem for me.
