  • Windows Update, error: "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working and was closed".

Whenever I run windows update, and try to install an update for Vista, I get the error message"

"Windows Modules Installer has stopped working and was closed"

. This has happened for quite awhile and I tried many suggestions on the web. If you do an internet search, you will see this seems to be a fairly common problem, but I can't find any official solution of Microsoft. I am afraid that I do not receive the latest updates and security patches so would like to help with this question.

    Thank you

    Hi guys

I had installed up-to-date antivirus software and my problem seems to start after an update from Microsoft. Do a search on the web and you will see similar stories. I spent so much time trying to solve this I think it's better just to do a re-install. Certainly not the resolution I had hoped, but appreciate this type of questions are almost impossible to solve the problems through intermittent mail such messages.

    Thank you

  • Windows Installer has stopped working and access is denied installation KB942288-V3

original title: Windows XP SP3 installation problem

My windows installer has stopped working. I tried several 'fixed' found on the net, but nothing is done and would be grateful if someone could guide me through the solution.   Windows XP, SP3.

In 'Services', 'Windows Installer' has been designated 'disabled '.   I changed this "manual".

    msiexec /unreg works ok.
msiexec/regserver gives an error: "an event could not invoke any of the Subscriber.

I have downlaoded and ran KB942288-V3 and got ' Setup error.   Access is denied. "

I watched the permissions in the registry and seems to have all the permissions are ok, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks for any help

I would say that if you update your PC from SP2 to SP3 all your files will remain same.

Once you do a new Installation or a custom don't store all your network cards and other device drivers.

  • CD/dvd drive and windows update/installer will not work

Because I'm not on the computer, I am referring to I should be as concise and precise as possible here. The system is Windows Vista service pack 2.

I'm trying to re format the computer of a friend. Something I've done often in the past. I did two recovery disks when the computer was new, but cannot do recognize the cd/dvd or any other, internal or external drive that I tried. error code 39 is cited in all cases.

In addition, he said there are three updates to install when I boot on the system to start before these updates are installed only. In fact the windows installer has stopped working. I went into Device Manager and not only it shows conflicts for hard drives, but for multiple NICs also: twelve 6-4 adapters and five ISATAP adapters also Microsoft. I've uninstalled and restarted for all adapters reinstall with the same conflicts. In addition the machine will not be closed correctly in normal mode and I get a blue screen with a message of memory dump. I'm afraid to format the c drive, until I have a way to reinstall the system via a disk drive. Can someone help me please?

I tried it in safe mode and it stops at least normally but as soon as I restart with networking all the problems are back.

    Hello Monica and DuaneWolfe,.

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community. I understand that the Windows Installer does not work on the computer windows vista. I also noticed that there is another thread of yours, with the same question, and the thread was answered by Yaqub K August 30, 2012.
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information on how to to back up and restore the registry,

I suggest you to consult the help article mentioned in this thread and let us know the status of the issue.

  • Restore complete system crashes at the installation of ms works bundle

When you try to restore the complete system on a windows vista computer it keeps getting hung up to install MS Works Bundle. I was able to load all food 3 DVD then when it gets to the screen of custom installers it starts to install everything and then to hinder.

The screen has several windows. We have the Windows installation and it says that Windows is now put in place the following... Factory process 1.
The second window has the full system restore with a progress bar (always stuck at 59%) with installation of Microsoft Works SE 9.0.
The third said install MS Works Bundle... Installing the required software. It may take a few moments.
I left twice to run at night and always, it is stuck on this screen and goes no further.

    Hello

I suggest that you follow these steps and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

Temporarily disable any security software and then try to restore your system.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.  In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 2:

If this does not help, test the issue in a clean boot State.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

    Hello

Have you used the method of priming clean to see if the question was still there or not? There are
many methods in the tow truck which will generally contribute to solve these types of
    questions.

If you have tried ALL these methods and no help then possibly an upgrade in Place.
Helps the repair facility (do not use if you have not tried these methods). This allows to
keep the programs and data backups however redundant are always a good idea.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).
