  After you carefully read this document, you know far too many methods of identification of your laptop.

  Hello. I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6154tx notebook PC. My latest version of the BIOS installed is Hewlett - Packard F.1B, 10/05/11.

  I wanted to check if my BIOS is up to date, and if there was a newer version of the BIOS available.

  So I went to the HP support for laptop page (http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/products/laptops) and chose Pavilion laptops > models dv4000 to dv6999 > dv6000 Entertainment Notebook PC series > products outside the corresponding United States.

  But alas, I couldn't find the model of my laptop which are listed there. It has dv6150tx and so he climbs to dv6161ea, but not dv6154tx.

  What should I do now? Is there another way, I can update the BIOS of my laptop?

• Older, reliable models of HP laptop with spaecific optios?

  My children have convinced me that HP is the laptop to go to.  My poblem is that I am looking for a laptop run some specific older audio gear ad find the right match is difficult.  I have two Presonus FP10s which may be possible via firewire, but there must be FW400 and Presonus has a list of the chipsets, with it works.

  So, with a slot Expresscard34/54 for a Firewire card, I'm really looking for an older machine.  I don't need a 64-bit processor (I really do not believe the claims of the Presonus that their older stuf works with it) and I don't want Windows 7 (I'm fine with XP and I know that support stops next month).

  I wish I could have 3 GB of RAM here and a 500 GB SATA drive, if not more.  A 16 X 9 format screen would be great for real estate, but the graphics high resolution are really needed (I'm not a gamer - the only game I've ever played was "database management" he paid a bettter).    Wi - fi is an option, but I need an optical drive and USB.

  I was recording on an older half height Dell GX280 desktop with a single processor 2.79 GHz, 3 GB RAM and a 500 GB drive, with a secodary external 1.5 TB HARD drive.  It is a pain to lug around and requires that devices: screen, keyboard, mouse and AC power for remote work.  But it works very well as a recorder 16 tracks.

  It would be nice, however, to record music 16 on the back of a car, or 8 tracks elsewhere...

  Any reccomendations in what to look for in the way of old HP/Compaq PC?  Maybe what to avoid?

  Well, within reasonable limits - I see that 1 TB through 3TO SATA drives in external cases.

  I'm recording 16 sound tracks and she eats a lot odf place, relatively speaking.

  I spilled coffee with coffee (a sugar) dye on my computer laptop keyboard the other day and now some of the keys (t and y for example) no longer work.
