Models, links and 'here '...

Hi all

I understand the benefits of the use of site templates to help improve maintainability so you only define the header, menu, and footer only once, but change the 'content' on each page. My question is, if I use a template with my menu of links to other pages, is there a way to change an aspect of links depends on what page I look but always use a template for the menu. To be clear, I know how to do HTML/CSS coding every page individually, but not if I use a Dreamweaver template.

There are several ways to do so. Here are two.

1. If your menu html code does not change, only the styles that affect its appearance:

put your menu inside another container (this could even be the body tag, but I use a bowl for just the menu for this example)
According to the code model, place your cursor inside the div topmenu opening tag (in the tag itself, not only in the div).
- go to modify > templates > make attribute editable... (This is a different menu than insertion > models >)
- In the pop up dialog box choose "class" (or add if not one there already)
- check the 'editable attribute brand '.
- Enter a name "makes sense to you... for failure, menuClass.
- Let the type in "text".
- Enter a default value for the class. (in this case 'by default' can be a good choice.)
- Your external menu div will now have a 'topmenu' id and class that is editable in any page based on the template.
Make the menu styles by default in your stylesheet.
For the other sections, define styles with a more specific rule.
In the model itself, it's a good idea to add comments after the div that remind you what are the possible classes:
Now, when you create a page based on this template, you can go to:
Edit > properties of the model
and change the value of 'topmenuclass' to what is appropriate.

2. If your menu HTML code must be different for each section of your site:

In your template, create your menu in the optional region (do NOT use an editable optional region)
- Insert > template objects > optional region
- Give it a name that makes sense, like defaultTopMenu
- Let the 'default' checked.
Create the menu of each section within another sector in option
- Give it a name that makes sense, like sectionOneTopMenu
- Uncheck the box 'by default'.
Now, when you create a page based on this template, you can go to:
Edit > properties of the model
and chose what optional region you want to have displayed on this page.
Simply change the vale to the default menu optional region that you want to see the value 'true' and 'false' (there is a checkbox for this)

My problem is the opposite of the OP, but the result is the same. Years of the use of previous versions of Firefox have conditioned me to open links in a new tab by selecting the second choice of right click menu without looking. After a week of trying to readjust in places reversed 'Open link in a new window' and "Open link in a new tab", I'm always unintentionally opening new windows instead of tabs every time after time. The point is, why should I have to adjust (or need a plugin external to solve your problem). YOU TEACHES ME HOW to DO THIS WAY, then why you changed it? Do you think that the reversal is most effective? A task force of new users select the new range? Do you have a taste of trial with Pepsi? Outlook Express 6.0 (OE6.0) be uninstall under XP Pro/SP3 and if so, how?

So I open Win Explorer and of course the folder as c:\programs\outlook Express is still there and complete with all files .dll, .exe, etc..

Now, here's where it comes down right spoooooky. I created a new folder in C:\Programs\Outlook Express, all of the files selected in the C:\Programs\Outlook Express and drop them in the new folder. And then looking at the contents of the Outlook Express folder in the right pane (which is now empty other than the new folder), one by one, all the files OE re - APPEAR in the OE folder.
WHAT IS PAST WITH IT!

All the files that I moved to the new folder are still there, including the renowned Xmsimn.exe.
It is as if the system will not let you remove the OE components and withdrew them a .cab file, somewhere, even if I said do not install Outlook Express!

Well, I found the answer to problem # 1 to myself.
Somehow the IE Tools/Internet Options/programs Internet/tab setting programs section e-mail field has NOT been defined. It was empty.
I put it to "Windows Live Hotmail" and BINGO! Click on an embedded mailto: link and pops up a new IE window connected to my Hotmail account, open electronic 'Composer the Message' page with the To: field with the link I clicked on.

Now if only one of you gurus out there can answer problem # 1 b (can Outlook Express 6.0 (OE6.0) be uninstall under XP Pro/SP3 and if so, how? -see my OP) I'll be in sleep with nightmares of moved files reappear magically in an empty folder!
