Modem speed:
How can I find my modem speed? HP Pavilion a6767c
Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion a6767c desktop computer. According to specifications, your computer came not with a modem (the device that uses the telephone line to send and receive data). Your computer supports the wired networking to 10 Mb/s and 100 Mb/s via an ethernet cable and also supports 802.11 b/g wireless network adapter at up to 54Mbps through its wireless USB adapter.

I have a 173 A60 and the built-in modem 56KO works very slowly.
In general, a download of a driver from Toshiba Web site runs with 5 KB/s.
I have read the user manual and have put everything I can for optimum speed without effective change.
Is this a problem with the modem? There is nothing wrong with your modem that is actually the best you will be
never go out a dial-up connection is on 5.4 kb/s and upload
Speed of 3 KB/s Modem speeds are given in Kbps not kb/s.
So the theoretical speed looks like this: baud rate / 10 / 1024
8 + 2-bit (10) used for the Protocol rs232 or COM port.
A 56000 baud rate would be about 5,46 KB/s (raw data).
However, this speed is reduced due to the nature of internet packages
because each package needs a header and will reduce overall download
rate. With the techniques of compression of packets, this figure may go up or down

Satellite L305-S5919 - slow modem speed
Hello people. Right now I have this modem driver - * Toshiba Software Modem for Windows Vista (Agere). * But I'm not all that nice to her performance, so I thought to try another.
I'm looking at that - is * Motorola Modem Driver for Windows Vista (32/64-bit) *. The information about this said, it is compatible with my model, but I didn't know if it would work as the one I have is Agere (Agere, it's what it came with nine).
I have a Satellite L305-S5919, Vista 32 bit and Toshiba Software Modem Agere Driver 2.1.77.
Thank you!
Hey,.
I think that the problem is not the driver, it s technology modem itself. You know that the speed of the modem is 56,000 Kbps?
The point is that most of the websites are already designed for broadband connections, because they have a lot of high-resolution graphics and other multimedia stuff.
In your case, I would choose another Internet connection ;)

Satellite Pro M70-113: the modem speed is too slow
Hello
I have a satellite pro m70-113 laptop.
The problem is that I am not able to web surf, when you are connected to the Toshiba software modem that is integrated, because the speed is too slow.
Connecting about 40 Kbps, but I can't even open the yahoo site just because it's very slow. I mean it seems that there is no data transfer... I have to wait 5 min load yahoo.com!
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the drivers, but the problem is the same...And on the same telephone line, when I connect to the net on my desktop, I get a decent speed. If the problem is not telephone line or my ISP, but something on my laptop hardware modem, or its drivers.
Please can someone help me...
Thank you, hoping for an answer...
Hello
Please check the maximum speed of the port and set it to the maximum level. You can find it in the properties of the modem in Device Manager.

Hey, I recently bought the E1200 advertised as 300mbit/s, but it is slower than my old WRT54GL. The wireless, I get only 1.5 / 2 MB/s download speed and 6-7 Mbps wired max. My ISP gives me 100 Mbps in download, about 12 MB/s without the help of the router.
I'm not an expert imto configuration of routers, but I think that I have disabled anything that might slow down, but no change at all.
I was getting 3-4 MB/s wireless and 4-5 Mbps wired with the old WRT54GL... something must be wrong here.
@Redbull, your modem speed is impressive. The speed you get directly to your modem and the speed at which you get connected to your router should be the same or if there is a difference, it should be close to that. Make sure that WMM is enabled. Sucurity must be set to WPA2 only. You can reflash/update the firmware of your router. See the link here. Hey cherokeegirl507
Contact your internet service provider
They provide your broadband or dial-up connection
discuss with them ways to achieve best download speed plan them and or what is required by your class online
and also to discuss with the people who run the online class

DN1030. Wired WiFi works but not wireless, even after moving the unit next to the modem
I have great wifi range and cable modem speed.
My wife saw a video from You Tube Streaming PARTY so I bought a DN1030 to replace an old music receiver and a Blu - Ray BDP - BX510 a player couple so she can listen to the same music through the TV speakers.
The readers Blu - Ray picked up wireless in 1 minute.
The DN1030 think for a few minutes and tells me that the connection fails.
I have temporarily moved the DN1030 next to my modem (it was only 15 feet away) and there was no change.
I even reset the receiver and tried to update his software (it does not need).
I temporarily connected it with a Ethernet cable and it works. Tested with airtime and the PART. Great flexibility.
I can't move the modem or connect a cable to the DN1030, so I really need a wireless receiver. What do you recommend?
A different model?
It is highly recommended that you plug your STRDN1030 has / V Receiver to a router or a modem/router and not just a standalone modem because stand-alone modems assign IP addresses to internet equipment as your Sony receiver.
You can contact your internet provider to get a separate router or upgrade your modem existing to a modem/router device.

Mistake of fact and update Firefox for 36.0 36.0.1
After the 36.0.1 of 36.0 Firefox update, Firefox speeds went from great at MODEM speeds. This occurs for most Web sites. Go I tried "www.google.com" and it took 21 seconds to load the page. www.Mozilla.org took 31 seconds.
Tried the option REFRESH the site of Mozilla and lost all the extensions and user settings for no reason that this has not helped.
Any help would be appreciated as I do not use IE, that I have to use until this problem is fixed.
Thank you
It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and allow your firewall to ask permission to get access full and unrestricted, again to install for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

Satellite Pro M70: removal of the USB device causes other peripheral USB does not work
Withdrawal/use of a USB for a USB device causes devices on USB port to get affected.
Satellite Pro M70-199 (2 GB RAM)
Windows XP Pro (SP2) with all updates of Windows installed until end of October 2006.
This laptop has 3 USB ports.
An Eicon Diva ISDN USB modem is connected to a USB port. When certain devices connected to a different USB port are deleted (even if removed safely with "eject" or "remove device safely", it causes the ISDN modem to file either a double channel (64 k + 64 k) ISDN, or for the ISDM modem to disconnect completely.)
Cause this include any memory stick USB, MP3 player (ipod and creative zen) and so on.
Do other devices, such as USB external hard drives & sometimes external DVD USB drives, and sonetimes do not produce this problem.
Is this a known issue?
If it is a hardware interrupt problem, how to solve it?
This problem is related to the modem and the laptop? As a note, in addition, intermittent (random) times (cannot reproduce all the time, but it happens once or twice a day) when a USB device is accessible it causes the modem USB ISDN to drop a single channel, even if the lights on the modem still show it as it is connected. In this case and the case above, the only way to get the modem ISDN USB running again is physically disconnect and reconnect.
The reason why it is a crucial issue is that:
(1) the modem speed is halved or disconnected
(2) the ISP continues to full rate for a double load connection even if a channel has been dropped.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello
I have Satellite M70-159 and I didn t notice any strange problems with the USB ports. I use a few of them as printer, webcam, USB, memory stick, optical mouse, and external HARD drive. The devices are recognized correctly and I always remove without option delete without danger.
Now I have Vista pre-installed and there is no problem so far. If I understand you right USB ports work fine but there is problem with USB modem only. Am I wrong?
Also try to contact the producer of modem support. Is perhaps the question like this known and if all goes well, they have a logical explanation. -

Hello!
You use DHCP or a static IP address?
If you use DHCP, you must turn on your laptop or set a static IP address. You have yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager?
Maybe the driver needs to be updated. If you are using a firewall, disable it. Perhaps, it blocks the internet connection.
Good bye

Gigabit Ethernet through AirPort Extreme
I just got a gigabit home connection. If I connect my iMac via ethernet to gigabit municipal internet provider modem, II can get about 800 Mbps download based on the file netspeed.com. Nice.
However, when I use my Airport Extreme as a router ethernet (put the extreme between the iMac and the modem) my speed drops to about 1/10 of that.
None of the devices that I currently own are capable of handling 802.11 ac, so I know I could not anywhere near gigabit wireless speeds. But it would be nice to have the fastest speeds on the one machine I intend to connect via ethernet, then connecy to the extreme wireless.
Airport Extreme really limit the ethernet so? Is there a setting I can adjust for more fast ethernet routing?
If the AirPort Extreme 802.11ac is configured as a DHCP and NAT router, then the WAN to LAN speed will be limited to about 300-400 Mbps. Check the results here:
http://www.SmallNetBuilder.com/tools/charts/router/view
If the AirPort Extreme is configured in Bridge Mode, then you would expect to see 600 - 700 MB/s speed this way.
http://www.SmallNetBuilder.com/tools/charts/router/bar/75-LAN-to-Wan
If you don't see results, then the AirPort Extreme is not to negotiate properly with your modem speeds. Unfortunately, Apple has removed all the settings to manually adjust WAN port on the AirPort Extreme 802.11ac speed, so there is not much you can do others try a few unusual things...
One of them would be to insert a Gigabit Ethernet switch between modem and AirPort Extreme to see if it will negotiate better speeds like that
Another would be to try an Ethernet cable between the modem and AirPort Extreme cross.
If none of these things help, then you should ask Apple to replace the AirPort Extreme to you and hope for more luck in the next test.

Using HAM Radio frequency remote desktop
Want to connect to 2 - PC is using Windows OS, such as remote desktop, but use frequencies Radio HAM vs Internet/Modem.
The location of 2 PC (laptop) is solar powered, no Internet-WiFi-phone line.

http://www.TAPR.org/pr_intro.html is the best place to look for information. If you are a packet radio operator you must already be aware of this web site.
As the bandwidth for packet radio networks is limit to about 9600 bps (the modem speed), I suspect THAT DRC on this type of link would be very slow.

I am replacing an old Netgear MR314 with Linksys wrt400n. I have an old Alcatel DSL modem ('speed touch Home'). When I daisy chain the wrt400n (planned for obtaining IP via DHCP) off the coast of the mr314, it works fine. However when I reconfigure the wrt400n to use PPPoE with the same PPPoE user name and password as the mr314 had and plug the wrt400n directly on the ADSL modem, the wrt400n never leaves 'connection' mode on the status page. There is no error reported, even when I mangle intentionally username. In addition, there is no flicker of Rx & Tx lights on the modem. I turned it off and them powered upwards in order (1 modem, then wrt400n), with the same result. It's like the wrt400n is not communicating with the modem, but it does not communicate with the old raouter. I use the same cables when I'm daisy chaining off the coast of the MR314. I also checked for firmware updates, and there is not.
Since I havve a very old ADSL modem, I thought that maybe the wrt400n doesn't detect that the modem can be slow, that is, it cannot handle 100 MHz. So I put an old hub 10Base-T between the wrt400n and the ADSL modem... and now it connects. The router seems to work fine now.

BEFSR41 slow internet connection
I apologize in advance because I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find an answer in the archives to solve my problem.
I just upgraded to internet service Charter 20 Mbs I was already on the 5Mbs Charter.
Before I upgraded my internet speed via speedtest.net are:
Download ~ 5 Mb/s
Download ~0.5 Mb/s
After I improved my speed with the router connected to the modem are:
Download ~ 8 Mb/S
Download ~ 2 Mb/S
If I bypass the router and connect my computer directly to the modem speed is:
Download ~ 20. 5 Mb/s
Download ~ 2 Mb/s
The router and the Modem I use are:
Router - v2 BEFSR41 - I installed the firmware to v 1.46.02 tonight - has not helped speed
Modem Ambit 60678EU
Do I need a new router?
Thanks in advance
The BEFSR41 v2 router WAN Port is Port RJ - 45 10Base, he can't handle a 20Mbps connection... You will need to buy a new router...
