  Hey there Adobe Community.

  TL; Dr - how do you get ExtendScript to call 'Make Compound Shape'. It's to make cartoon speech bubbles.

  I am trying to create a script that could create a word bubble based on a single line. The intended use is expected to accelerate the comic lettering process. For this particular iteration, I am train to retrieve the pathPoints of one line and that allows to create the speech bubble. However, I was really hoping to find a way to run the code to 'Make the shape Compound', so I can change the ball tail later, IE - non-destructive.

  It is used to be made exclusively with vbscript, or applescript but starting with CS6 also do you this with javascript

  I use Illustrator CS3 on Mac 10.5.8.

  I am creating a form composed from a compound shape, that I have prepared.

  

  The first part works fine. Can I combine the form hexagonal-compound - I created from multiple forms of hexagon.

  I then want to cut the edges on a part of the shape composed (using a box of 4 rectangles), which is supposed to give me a rectangle containing only the lines of the shape in is spent inside this rectangle (image 1).

  I'm working on a script that simplifies / includes art objects in the documents that we later convert it to FXG files.  I ran into a strange problem with a form consisting in a single document.

  I recently upgraded to CS5, but the shape comound tool has changed. I want to do full text with a horizontal gradient (orange on the left) and the yellow on the right. in previous versions, I would describe the text, convert the whole word in a compound shape, and then apply the gradient. for some reason any illustrator doesn't let me do the whole word a form composed only of individual letters. This causes each letter to have a gradient applied to it (vs the whole word).

  When I select all of the text and right-click, he didn't give me the ability to create compound path, only group them. When I click the icon of the compound path (any of them - I tried all) it also includes the text. If I put a rectangle on top the Word as a whole that it allows me to make the compound shape.   I don't know what you mean by the "compound shape tool." I guess you can refer to the Pathfinder palette and some of its options, but that's just a guess.

  In any case, here is a simple method which retains the live text, so you can change it if necessary.

  Select the text with the Selection tool or direct selection.

  In the appearance Panel, click the new button fill in at the bottom of the Panel.

  Apply your gradient. Move the (gradient) fill above the element in the Panel.

  Take the gradient tool and click-and-drag the direction wished your gradient to go.

  There is no need to outline the text or create compound shapes in order to apply a gradient through a Word.

• Drill a hole without compound path?

  I have a form where I then drill a hole in this form. If I do that it then creates a composite path.

  The problem is that I want to not use the area Type tool and paste text in the form - then, but it doesn't allow me to do that you can't do on a compound shape.

  No, the numbers for the Mac currently have no forms.  I think that thinking must be that they are less needed on a larger screen.  You can make a suggestion via numbers > provide comments numbers in your menu.

  Looks like the circle that you were trying to use as the clipping mask was not in front of all. On your screenshot, it seems that your mixture is at the front.

  1. Select your red circle and copy (Ctrl C)
  2. Select the entire document (A command)
  3. Group selected items (Ctrl-G)
  4. With all this that still selected, paste your circle in front (Ctrl F)
  5. Select the entire document (A command)
  6. Now, go to the menu object > clipping mask > make.

  It should work.

  It seems that you try to make part of an image transparent (P).

  This is usually done in Photoshop.

  But you can try this:

  Select the white object in the center of the P.

  Fill it with black.

  Select the white object and the image, and then click make mask in the transparency Panel.

  Help, please! I'm doing a composite path using the vector stars and a TIFF image. Pathfinder he, nor the route command transparent option works.   You can select all the stars and Ctrl / Cmd + G to group them, then change their background (and contour, if necessary) to white if not already (the ones I see are white), and then select the Group of Star and the image below and in the transparency palette dialog box click do with unchecked Clip opacity mask and mask invert checked.

• Less prior inaccurate?

  I noticed that the negative order before seems to not give me the exact path as well as the use of a layer on top another layer?

  File 1, you can see that the logo K has a K white layer on the black rectangle.

  File 2 shows the K cut by using the command "less prominent" in illustrator.

  You can see that there is a difference in the forms. In the 2 K file looks like definitely leaner.
