More reports of free space...

We have requirements to report on a group of VMS in some blue files.  We want to generate a report for virtual machines with less the 100 MB of free space.

Take the script developed in the free space report, this is something that can be done?

Try this

$blueFolders = "Blue1","Blue2"
$expression1 = [string]::Join('|',$blueFolders)

$folderMoRef = Get-View -ViewType Folder -Property Name -Filter @{"Name"=$expression1} | %{
   $_.MoRef.Value}
$expression2 = [string]::Join('|',$folderMoRef )

&{foreach($vm in Get-View -ViewType VirtualMachine -Property Name,Guest.Disk `  -Filter @{"Runtime.PowerState"="poweredOn";"Parent"=$expression2}){
  $vm.Guest.Disk | where {$_.FreeSpace -le 100MB} |  Select @{N="VMname";E={$vm.Name}},    @{N="Path";E={$_.DiskPath}},    @{N="MBFree";E={[math]::Round(($_.FreeSpace/1MB),0)}},    @{ N="PercFree"; E={[math]::Round((100*($_.FreeSpace/$_.Capacity)),0)}}
}} | Sort PercFree |

  • I have disk defragment now show that I have no free space left

    I try to Defrag. and cleaning disc once a week. I normally like 30% free space. After that I have the defragmentation. last week, he went to zero, all free space (white bar) became red. I have not downloaded anything. I tried to remove programs, which would total more than 15% free space mark. If I run it defrag goes to zero. Any thoughts?

    Hello

    Method 1:

    I suggest you analyze your computer Microsoft Safety Scanner, it will help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

    The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

    Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Method 2: Try running the disk check on your system with the help of the link below.

    How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265

    Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

  • ESX brings more free space than does SAN

    I have a student who has an ISCSI SAN Dell EqualLogic PS400E and ESX 3.5i servers using VMware software initiator. They observed that formatted with the VMFS LUNS show different amounts of free space if you view ESX or SAN. The SAN of reports more LUNS are low on space but ESX reports that there is a good bit of free space on the data store. The variation of the reports may be as much as 50 GB.

    Anyone got any ideas on why this can happen and that they should look to reconcile the differences?

    You can find an old thread on this argument.

    It's true: Equallogic indicate less space than ESX, but the reason is simple...

    EqualLogic can't VMFS and how it works.

    Know only the block marked as used (which may be free or unused in VMFS).

    Update to iOS 9.2.1 requires at least 610 MB of free space on your iPad. Please change your synchronization of media options to make more available storage.

    You have a question? Your free space currently on the iPad is indicated in the settings > general > available, the message you get is a generic message, for example if you've synced a lot of music or movies/TV programs to the iPad from iTunes on your computer, then change your sync options, deselect and then remove them from the iPad.

    Or you can update via iTunes on your computer (in iTunes Summary tab), which require less space because it can use the computer (but that will download the iOS version whole, not only the update).

    But however update you, first take a backup, copy purchases on your computer's iTunes library (file > devices > transfer purchases) and preferably grab your own copy of any important documents/photos

  • I 4.41 MB of free space on recovery (d) 14.6 GB, what can I do to get more space?

    Hello! When I bought CONNECT, the technician I spoke with told me I was 4.41 MB of free space on recovery (d) 14.6 GB. What can I do to get more space? I need help, please!

    Hello

    ·        What operating system is installed on your computer?

    ·        What is the brand and model of the system that you are using?

    ·        It is specific to a particular Web site?

    As it is the recovery drive partitioned pre, and it was created by the manufacturer to expand you would need to get in shape. I suggest you to contact the manufacturer for support. You should not save files or data on the recovery partition as it is only meant to recover the operating system if something happening time.

  • Run Disk Defragmenter has released more than 30 GB of free space!

    I'm not used to run Disk Defragmenter Windows very often, but in recent weeks I have been through the very large import of my cd collection process on iTunes. My 'C' drive has a capacity of 222GB and I was at 9.68 GB of free space. I ran WDD but after 18 hours, he had still not finished! So I decided to cancel defragmentation, and after checking my 'C' drive, I found to my great astonishment that I now had 42.8 GB of free space! Then, I downloaded the DiskDefrag Auslogics free and running. She performed in a few minutes and showed the Windows defragmentation had done most of the work but for some reason any had not finished. Anyone know why?

    I have decided to disabled Windows Defrag and will use in the future, the Auslogics version he gives information about the status of the defragmentation and seems to be much more effective and faster.

    However, I am very surprised by the amount of free space that freed the defragmentation process. I searched on various forums of pc and other posters have said the complete opposite to my own experience. The common consensus seems to be that defraging reduces the amount of free space on a drive rather than increase it!

    There also seems to be a difference of opinion on the amount of free space should be left on a hard drive to allow the computer to function effectively. I was a little more than 4% before I defragmented but I saw messages advising that we should let betweeen 10% and up to 50% (which seems to me to be silly!)

    I would be grateful for any help anyone can give me, in particular, why the defragmentation released (in my case) as much free space.

    A common mistake in logic. You assume that two things are related, because they are close in time.

    Defrag does not change the amount of disk space. It only increases or decreases the free space or used.

    Windows defragmentation runs every three days and optimizes the program and load the system boot. This is not controllable. It is also not a defragmentation of data file.

    Using another Defragmenter will fight with Windows.

    NTFS (and FAT32) resist fragmentation. Most fragmented files are log files and will fragment 1 second after defragmentation.

    Windows only writes files where there are a lot of space to write prevention of fragmentation. Do not fragment the files that do not change. Disk cache makes the fragmentation irrelevent.

    Any recommendation on the free space are based on the best estimate on the way an average person uses a computer. Lack of free space does not work computer until it has zero. However, most people like to save their work and some Windows watchdog is going spastic, just before that you can't do anything.

    As to why you have noticed a change in the use of the disc.

    1. system restore - this could be it.

    2 disk Cleanup - it will take place in itself is space is extremely low

    3 log files are created, deleted, written, etc.

    4. Windows automatically repairs physical disk errors. If defrag was having problems, you can check there is no car repair files.

    It's a way see what may have disk operations occurred.

    Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type (or copy and paste by clicking in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

    change c:\bootex.log

    What is this file exist with something in it?

    The following commands query the event logs.

    To start verification by using the name of the source for any version of Windows (because it varies).

    WMIC /append:"%userprofile%\desktop\DiskEvents.html" PATH Win32_NTLogEvent where (sourcename = "Autocheck" or sourcename = 'Winlogon' or sourcename = "WinInit") get format:HForm

    To run chkdsk in Windows.

    WMIC /append:"%userprofile%\desktop\DiskEvents.html" PATH Win32_NTLogEvent where (sourcename = "Chkdsk") to / format: HForm

    For warnings about disk problems detected during normal operations and automatic repairs by Windows at the time where the problems were discovered.

    WMIC /append:"%userprofile%\desktop\DiskEvents.html" PATH Win32_NTLogEvent where (sourcename = "NTFS" or Sourcename = 'Disc') to / format: HForm

    Then to view the created file.

    Start "" "% userprofile%\desktop\DiskEvents.html"

  • Create more free space in C drive

    Can I delete ~DF2831.tmp and similar files in the user/user/AppData/Local/Temp folder to create more free space in C drive?

    Rather than doing these cleanups manually, I suggest to you that use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool. Please see:

    Make sure that your backups are up to date before proceeding as a precaution.

  • Report server all readers to 0% free space

    We run PowerShell script as a scheduled task on the server. Employment checks free space on disks and reports if space drops to less than x %. It works in 99% of the time. Periodically, we however, alerts because the work indicates 0% space on the disks. A check through Windows confirms that this is not the case. We are receiving reports several like that then everything returns to normal. We would like to understand why this happens and what we can do to avoid this feeling of panic.

    What I really need to buy more FEPs in the clowd to update my creative cloud, my free space I s complete, I am now froced to pay more to use my programs?

    Hi TinEriksson,

    CC cloud offer free space 2 GB, but if you bought the subscription for one of the CC app you'll get 20 GB space cloud until you have the subscription.

    So, if you need more creative space Cloud you must subscribe.

  • Find the store of data with more free space.

    So I'm trying to build a script to configure the virtual machine.

    I'll have it retrieve the node to keep newly available vm out based on the cluster, I said to use. I'm just using the Random function to do that then I select a node in the cluster.

    Where I have questions, how can I

    find the data store less used, based on a particular data store naming scheme.

    I want to say is:

    Hypathetically, I for example named data warehouses:

    store data-prod-01 200 GB free

    store data-prod-02 500 GB free

    free data-prod-03 10 GB store

    free data-qa-01 200 GB store

    free data-qa-02 1000 GB store

    I want to throw in a piece of code to tell him to watch data warehouses "datastore-prod *" and place the virtual machine on the store of data with the most space. (that's assuming that the vm will agree on the DS and let fresh generals)

    I guess I want to know if it is possible?

    I would also be concerned about scenario that perhaps the vm should I build just will not match on any of my other data store. I guess I need a logic to check if it is still possible.

    This is more than a wish rather than a necessity. I'm thinking if I just read the info, or use a cvs file after running the script. Any recommendations would be greatly appreacted.

    Hello, drivera01-

    You should be able to do this with a very small amount of code.  Download all data warehouses that correspond to the model name, sort free space (in descending order) and select the top one.  As:

    ## get the datastore matching datastore-prod* that has the most freespace$oDatastoreWithMostFree = Get-Datastore datastore-prod* | Sort-Object -Property FreespaceGB -Descending:$true | Select-Object -First 1

    ## if the freespace plus a bit of buffer space is greater than the size needed for the new VMif (($oDatastoreWithMostFree.FreespaceGB + 20) -gt $intNewVMDiskSize) {<# do the provisioning to this datastore #>}else {"oh, no -- not enough freespace on datastore '$($oDatastoreWithMostFree.Name)' to provision new VM"}

    The second part, where it checks for sufficient freespace on the data store that has the most free, can be updated to behave as you need, but that should be the basis.  How does this look?

    Hi gregoryandme,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Uninstall and reinstall the Adobe photo shop program.

    Method 2: Perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow step 7 the link to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.

  • I'm trying to defragment my C drive and it more free space on the disk to make it work please help.

    I need 20% free space for Defrag work.  I have only 15%.  some of the great things here are from Microsoft Office 2007.

    I have the Compatibility Pack for Office 2007, Microsoft Office Small Business 2007, and Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 subscription.

    I want only Powerpoint, Excel, Access and Word.

    These are the elements that take up the most space on my hard drive, but I don't want to wipe out of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.

    Uninstall all the, do a custom Setup for what need you.  You will find the possibility to uninstall at the start-> Control Panel-> programs and features.

    Good luck.

    Hi Kirin, for more information on the other category in the view of storage , see this support article.

    There seems to be a bug in the about this Mac Look storage tab > system report > storage. It's probably different.

    Omni DiskSweeper can show you the exact size and location of all your files. It will be the inventory of your disc from files that occupy more space. It can also give you a fairer read disk space than the Finder or storage tab of the about this Mac. If you want you can even delete files from OmniDisk Sweeper. But beware, some items may be important for your system.
