move libraries in win7

Hi, I installed the propulsion system hybrid momentus xt on my laptop dv7 under windows7 64 bit home premium, I have partitioned my drive and would be good, move my libraries too the second partition (independent from operating system) is a way to accomplish and yet have access windows correctly as default locations?

You can set any library as a library by default.  Once you have transferred your files, add the new files as a library.  Then, in Windows Explorer, right-click the library and select Properties. Select the location of the library that you want to the default and then click on set a location record.

  • Can we move an installed Win7 (ie. Move the system disk) in a new machine?

I have a working Win7 on an old system installation.  The disc is relatively new and would so just pull the disk and move it to a new faster system (with different MoBo, etc.).
When I do that, it begins to start, then (approximately when the colors of the flag should appear in the splash screen), it restarts and then offers a repair screen.  No option of repair to succeed (I tried them all, with DVD, etc.).
How can I "fix" this installation is compatible with the new material?

The problem you have is that your new hardware must start drivers that are not present or disabled.

If you set your SATA and other devices for old ways (or disabled) in the BIOS, you may be able to get the system starts and after a few reboots of the installed device drivers, you need to run the system. It will have to be reactivated if you do and can not work.

If you can get the system up and running you can install the correct chipset and other pilots and drivers enable disabled for example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976

  • How to combine iMovie libraries/media of different computers/versions/readers?

I removed the HDD of my Al MacBook (late ' 08) 13 "OSX 10.6 and iMovie 8. I replaced with a SSD and installed OSX 10.11 and iMovie 10. I also have a Mac Pro Tower running OSX 10.9 and iMovie 10.

I would like to combine (or at least move) libraries to my old drive HARD of MB (now in an external USB enclosure) and MacPro on my current system of MB.

I've seen some tutorials online, I quickly cast but I don't see what is referenced. For example, the external hard drive is not displayed in iMovie, and I do not see a 'library of events' (there are a 'iMovie library' and 'All events'). I admit, iMovie has never been intuitive to me. I hope that I am right on something simple

Thanks for holding my hand. I appreciate all help. On a side note, El Cap + SSD + 8 MB of Ram has breathed new life into my old trusty MacBook.

In order to be recognized by iMovie 10, your project files and events of iMovie 8 must be at the root of your external hard drive.  They are probably the user / movies folder since it is the default location in a boot drive.  If you move them to the level root (i.e. in any enclosing folder) they must be recognized by iMovie 10 and at the launch that he must offer to put up-to-date.

  • Transfer current Win7 C to 2nd HD installed?

I want to move my current Win7 and other files/applications installed on the C drive to a white (bigger and faster) more recent HD, currently affected "drive F.  An image of the backup C drive is available on an external drive.  Once I have restore the F drive image, how can I change the original C-F and redefine the restored F to C?

Or is there another method as a custom installation on the file original win DVD Win7 for a new C drive?  If yes how to designate the active drive (empty) F as the new "C drive"?  The Win7 will reinstall cause the original C to redefine a different drive letter?  If so, other existing drive letters can be locked (i.e., remain the same)?

The reader is equal to or greater than the current C:\ drive, you may reimage C:\ now and restore on drive F:\. You will need an external drive and you need connect the F:\ drive as boot drive.

I've been using CS4 on an old XP computer and am planning to move to a Win7 OS. I was told that I can disable it on the old XP computer and then download my CS4 on the Win 7 computer system. Is this possible and what needs to be done to do this?

    Hi Lance,.

I ask allows you to check the system requirements for CS4 mentioned on this link - system requirements | Adobe Creative Suite 4, Point products.

According to the terms of use, you can activate Adobe apps on 2 machines however, you can't use both at the same time.

In order to obtain information on how to download, install and activate Adobe applications, you can check this link - How to download, install and activate Adobe applications.

Please let us know if you are not able to follow the steps mentioned on one of the links above.

  • First generation of PC

    Hello world

I've been browsing these forums for a few weeks now, learn a lot about computers to say the least! Currently, I am working for a video production company, as well from my own with a few friends... extremely excited about . I got a Macbook pro for four years now and only recently made account that I'll need to buy a new computer to be able to do what I want (run first and After Effects CS5). I shoot with a canon T2i and will need a very fast, efficient and reliable computer for HD impeccable editing and 3D graphics. My boss has built his own computers and it seems the way to go, that's why I switch back to PC and try my first build! So, I did a lot of research lately and have picked up some of the parts needed for the construction...

A friends computer I headed away from ASUS for a motherboard and suggested a MSI P55 - GD85 MB

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16813130261

    Other selected parts:

    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 - 930 Bloomfield processor

    GE Force GTX 480 GPU

Complete tour of 1200 Antec atx

    BFG Tech ARE-800 power

    Coolermaster 212 Plus CPU cooler

Samsung Spinpoint F3 drives (not sure how much, always have yet to decide what RAID array, I have to do, it seems as wrong that strongly recommend for video editing)

Have not decided on the memory again, no doubt doing 12 GB... was thought perhaps corsair dominator?

That's as far as I'm away, she really takes a lot of research to find the best pieces for my needs and the best bang for the buck! I was expecting a few parts to choose Help, I would be very happy to be steered in the right direction, thanks!

Alex, the injury is a great resource for me as well. I'm pretty happy with my bench, and it is close enough to what you build. My 5 5 d Mark II files like butter now thanks to the maximum error tolerated in CS5 (and everything that makes other things Adobe under the hood).

I had a limited budget because of everything Canon I've been collecting, but here are some thoughts:

    • I use the Antec 1200. I really like the space inside and I for $159 with free shipping from Newegg last year. This year, he went as low as $119. BUT, a few things to know: one, it weighs a little less than a car of Pinto 73. I no longer move my rig, my wife our forklift sold. Secondly, whenever you want to clean filters three screen at the front, you must remove both side covers and remove the clamping screws 24. Who never gets old after a while, believe me. But, the thing is built like a tank and the number of fans you get is great, especially as 8 "fan on top. I need Clipboard on my desktop when I turn this thing, lol! Oh, I also had to buy an extension for one of my mobo for power cables because the case is so big (and POWER supply is backwards on the bottom). Because the power supply is backwards, all disks SATA power connectors are backwards too, you will have a few serious turning cable goes on. Therefore, work your cable in so that they are flexible and so they don't stress the fragile on the disks power connectors when connecting them. FINALLY: go to Ace Hardware and buy a few dozen 6 x 32 1 "philips-head screws to mount your disks in the cages, Antec does not give you enough, and their cages require a screw of a thumb to reach across the mountain to reach the road. Of course disregard this last statement if you get the case harm mentioned!
    • The power SUPPLY Corsair TX 850w PSU is half the price of the 1000w PSU and according to Calc online I use in the 600 range, no problem. But if the budget is not too tight, give yourself the additional margin. If it is tight, you can save close to $100 with the 850.
    • Subscribe to the feed RSS of Techbargains.com! I saw the 300 GB Raptor (I use this one for OS & Adobe apps) for $169.99 in the last two weeks. The price is falling because the 600 GB will come out or is out. The 300 GB is more than enough, I use about 38 GB of mine to Win7 64 bit and the Suite CS5 PP and some plugins. I use a separate drive of Caviar Black for ordinary non-video files...-c' is where all my my Docs and my music, blah blah blah reside. You can use libraries of Win7 to remap your "My" folders to another drive, VERY convenient! (This is where damage jumps in and says that we should not have any other junk on our machines in any WAY, and he's right, that's why I bought a separate drive, lol!)
    • Although I was very happy with the EVGA X 58 Mobo, it's more expensive, it must be, as the official RAM limit is 12 GB (through 6 slots). Ports dual eNet is fill, so stick with suggestions of prejudice to a mobo. I went with EVGA all year last because they were running like crazy discount, and they are the champion to the quick recovery of discounts, usually of 3 weeks. Western Digital has been the worst, I waited almost 5 months for two different discounts. Just for info. In any case, the BIOS of EVGA and OC ELECTRIC are very practical tools if you plan to OC.
    • I spent the most money for the Pioneer BDR - 205 Blu - Ray burner, and it has been a great performer. He is still selling in the range $180, but I have yet to have a BR project fail. It burns up to 10 X if you can even find media, rated at 10 X.
    • The EMT are superb, but it is good that you plan to RAID active disk. You will need to speed, especially if you land the effects on the TL like Magic Bullet Looks, etc. At the moment I still RAID the poor, using Sata ports 8 & 9 on my MOBO for RAID0 WD two RE3s together. A separate controller is wise, I'm still not there. Not to exclude a car cheap dedicated just for Scratch disks, I use a $45 Caviar Blue 320 which seems to work very well (I'm not sure I know enough to say that really!). It is scratch, so it can melt for all I care, lol

  • Windows 7 - error Code: 80073712

    I get this error: 0 results for "WindowsUpdate_80073712" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

Let me start the instructions below saying there is not a doubt in my mind that your Norton applications here were troublemakers. I highly recommend that you do NOT reinstall NIS 2011 (or any other application Norton or McAfee application), even if your current NIS subscription is still valid. That being said...

If you have not upgraded to Win7, I would have you do a repair install (AKA In - Place Upgrade). Unfortunately, such is not the case then you'll have to do a clean install of Vista, then you can switch to Win7 again.

[You can print the following instructions for offline viewing.]

Backup personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this stage) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Vista using the disks that came with the computer when you bought it.

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

4 steps to help protect your new computer before going online
         http://www.Microsoft.com/security/pypc.aspx

Tip: After getting the computer fully patched & before moving to Win7, again, download/install KB971029 manually before connecting any external drive (for example, the flash drive) to the computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971029

VERY IMPORTANT! =>  Free trial of Norton will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the Norton Removal Tool (new) before installing the updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new antivirus application (for example,Microsoft Security Essentials) AND CERTAINLY BEFORE to move to new Win7.

  • Pavilion Elite catering

I have an e9110t Pavilion Elite desktop computer I bought in 2009. It works well but I would like to do a system recovery to wipe any dirt accumulated on the HARD drive, so I can start over with a fresh install of Windows 7. I participated in the program Windows 7 Upgrade HP ran at the time where the computer was purchased, and it is causing me all kinds of problems now.

I have no recovery disk other than the Windows 7 Upgrade disc that came as part of the upgrade promotion. This disc will work as a recovery, or is it only for the upgrade? I tried to recover using the Recovery Manager and he refuses to show any partition to be restored even if the original Image (D seems to be intact.) So it seems that recovery of Vista and then move again to Win7 is not an option.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the update for HP Recovery Manager on your page of drivers?

  • Delete a user account that I made during file transfer.

    Original title: account issue.

I recently bought a new computer to work. In the implementation, I made a user account. There were problems transferring all my files and I ended up buying a software for the transfer of the old computer. He set up a second user account. So now on my computer, I have two user accounts that are in me and I want to just do the two accounts into one and not lose the stuff on each account. Any suggestions?

    You can transfer data files

The easiest way would have been a copy of the files of data on a usb key, then the stick for the libraries of win7 (Docs, photos, music, etc.)

If you connect to the user account that you do not want to keep, and then access the libraries are all your data files?

  • What is the best way to transfer the file to a new larger internal drive?

I am running win 7 ultimate.  I had two hard drives of 500 GB.  C is partitioned to 120 GB (not enough) I just installed a 1.5 terabyte drive.  What is the best way to transfer my data? I would keep the 500 GB (now C: and D :) and add the 1.5 to, I also have a 2 external to that I tried to move my libraries at, but I'm confused my system.)  I don't know much about indexing or mapping.

    \

Consider transferring all the files that are currently in the second partition of 500 GB drive that is hosting the C: drive (you have referred to as D :) on the new drive.

Once you have done this, you can then delete the D: partition since this 1 hard drive. This would then extend the C: drive to actually use all the 500 GB drive. Finally change the drive letter for the 1.5 terabyte disk d: it in disk management ( Diskmgmt.mscRun)

So in the end you have a 500 GB C drive and a 1.5 TB drive D.

When it comes to move libraries Windows has a utility to do it for you. If you click on your username at the top right of the menu start all your user profile directories are displayed. If you right-click on each one and select Properties, those that support this feature will have a tab 'location '. In this tab, it displays the current location of the file, but has a button "move". You move the folder and all its files and subfolders in a new location and update the references, the system uses for this folder.

So if you created a folder on the D drive say 'Juli-year' and you right-click on Favorites, some properties, then on location you can move this summary folder in C:\Users\username\Favourites to D:\Juli-An\Favourites. Not all folders in the user profile supports this but all the c library files and a few others.

Of course if you did as I suggested and ended with a 500 GB C drive you may need.

  • Virtual MACHINE disk SSD and SATA III?

    Hello

I am building a new workstation tech support and will greatly appreciate your advice:

In short, I am migrating from a 92 GB 32-bit Win7 with the only platform of RAM 4 GB, for a Win8 - 64 bit with 32 GB of RAM platform. From experience, I know that it will take months of "free time" until I can complete installation, configuration, data migration and upgrade of all Win8 software I need to run my business on a daily basis. In terms of continuity of activity for the moment, my way of thinking is to:

    Install a fresh Win8 64-bit in a C: partition of 125 GB on a new 250 GB SSD.

Create logical partition D: on the remaining 125 GB SSD.

I'll then P2V old Win7 on a new VM VMware on the D: partition.

BTW, I'm not looking for methodology on the mechanics of the P2V here, because it is beyond the scope of this post and I know how to do this with the VMware products and 3rd party utilities.

    This should help:

    1. gradually get the host physical Win8 upward and entirely configured at my convenience, being able to continue to run Win7 in the VM for my daily activities.

    2. enjoy benefits and features of productivity which offers VMware Workstation on the competition.

    3. enjoy the impressive speed expected to have the VM Win7 on an SSD.

    4. several months from now when I need is more VM Win7 for daily activities, move the VM Win7 off the SSD (more than one pin SATA III), delete the D: partition out of the SSD and resize the partition of Win8 to use any DSS.

If I do the migration of this way, Win8, I can do (part 3) full backups / incremental of Win8 C:partition and partition D: Win8 (which holds the VM Win7), the image separately as an activity based on required on these partitions. Yes, with the stop of the VM or suspended of course during imaging of 3rd party partition.

    The $64 questions are therefore:

    5. the sound that precedes like a plan?

    6. or, it would be better to just install Win8 on the SSD of 250 GB of space (with VMware Workstation installed of course) and put the VM Win7 on the pin SATA III that contains my other virtual machines? My 3rd party software Imaging allows full/incremental file, so I could just save the VM Win7 directory on this axis. I can see potential disk latency issues in this scenario, if I have the old VM Win7 running and at the same time also work on (for example) two guests Windows Server of pre-production with a few guests of Win7/Win8 (to test ERP software or question MSSQL). There are five virtual machines running on this SATA III 7200 RPM spindle.

Sorry, that was so long. I look forward to your thoughts and comments.

    Kind regards...

Personally speaking I use the SSD together as a single partition and have a low spindle drive where you can run your file exchange and the VM, it would be different if you were running multple VM and wanted that they have spun fast and enjoyable, but as it's a loophole to stop until you get all migrate by then I don't see why you want to divide the SSD.

My MSI laptop has 2 SSD mSATA, the operating system of the House and a brooch my VM and file exchange and tbh I don't suffer at all with performance, I even was called to run virtual machines running (plural) from a device USB 3 instead.

  • How to get a reservation in DHCP address when using NAT networking?

I am looking for a solution on how to make a reservation in DHCP for a VM for Linux Mint13 when using NAT networking.

It would make life so much easier if I could be sure that this machine has a fixed IP address, I might add in the host to host files and thus get name resolution working for her.

I use the virtual linux machine mainly to test a Web site before going live and I used the bridged network and listed my DLINK router DHCP reservation.

But it won't work if I move the laptop Win7 to another place, so I really need NAT and a fixed address.

I found this discussion, which deals with the same issue so I followed the solution and this added to the end of vmnetdhcp.conf:

    host agiwebdev {}

    Hardware ethernet 00: 0C: 29:72:09:58;

    fixed-address 192.168.80.10;

    }

(with comments, stop and WorkStation7 closed altogether).

But the result after starting it all this is still once the client always reports its address as 192.168.80.157, which is the old address it before my edit.

    What have I done wrong?

The guest of LinuxMint13 was created and is running in VMWare Workstation on a host Win7ProX64 7.1.6

    I'm really stupid...

It turns out that the answer was in the discussion I linked to:

Restart the service of Windows 7 VMWare DHCP service with disconnected guest network card, then plug it in and the new address is here!

    Simple as that!

So in fact already was answering the question I asked.
