Movie Maker in Vista problems

Why do I have a red x through some of my slides when I publish my movie in Movie Maker for Vista

Red xs indicate him can not find the program
your sources (photos, video clips, music videos) files.

This occurs when the source files have been
deleted, moved, renamed, or are otherwise
inaccessible.

If the source files are still available... click right on the
Red xs and navigate to the location of the source
files and you may restore the path.

  • Windows Movie Maker for Vista crashes when the publication of film to 99% all 5 remaining seconds

I am running Vista and have tried to publish a movie of 2 hours on my pc using a number of different formats.  Still, it hangs at 99% with 5 seconds remaining.  I have 800 GB free on my hard drive, a quad core cpu and 8 GB of RAM.  Any help to do this would be greatly appreciated.  Movie Maker version is 6.0 (Build 6001:SP1).

    Thanks Matt.

I checked my Windows logs and found no errors.
Then, I took my video and remove all but 1 minute and tried to create a movie.  It worked.  Then I went back to the original big movie I tried to save and delete the last two seconds of him.  Who did the trick.  I have no idea how the end a few images to an existing sequence of wmv could spoil of Movie Maker, but the problem is now resolved.

Thank you for guiding me to look at the error logs.  He started me on the right track for the removal of the error.

  • Windows Live Movie Maker Music Sync problem

I use Windows Live Movie Maker on Vista.  I think I'm having a problem syncing music with photos.  I have a slideshow that I add music. Finally, I want to make a DVD. No problem initially adding pieces to the photo show.   When I start at the beginning of a song it works OK.  When I start towards the end of a song, however, there is no sound.  In addition, sometimes the songs are shortened.  Any suggestions?

  • Why did did you publish 2.6 of Movie Maker for Vista and not for XP?

    Original title: Movie Maker

Hey Microsoft, I want to ask U! Why did did you publish 2.6 of Movie Maker for Vista and not for XP?

    Hello

Movie Maker 2.6 is for Windows Vista users whose computer cannot run the Vista's Movie Maker version. However if you want to upgrade the Movie maker for Windows XP you can try to download Windows live essentials.

Windows Live Essentials includes seven major programs Windows Live to help you stay in touch with the people you care most, edit and share your photos, blog, browse, search, and help your kids safer online. Programs include Windows Live Messenger, Mail, Writer, photo library, Family Safety, toolbar, and Movie Maker and Outlook Connector, Office Live Add-in and Microsoft Silverlight.

Check the minimum system requirements for Windows XP.

  • Movie Maker with Vista

Given that I have change my camera I can not use my video clips (mp4) with movie maker in Vista.  I think that mp4 is not recognized by Vista.  I heard that it is possible to get the codec to add to my Vista to activate my projects.  How is that possible?  I'm not too keen with computers, but I get so far.

  • Streaming problems within Windows Live Movie Maker in Vista

I have Vista Service Pack 2. I imported my Toshiba Camileo S20 camcorder .avi files in Windows Live Movie Maker.  I have problems with the broadcasting project.  The voice and video are not synchronized.  Also the video hangs during playback.  I don't know why this has started happening since I use this software for a few years and have the same computer, Windows updated constantly, and have never had this problem before.

When I save the movie and Windows DVD Maker allows you to create and burn a movie to a DVD, the film is not too clear during playback on my TV.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the software verbage and what are some programs, for example, "codec".  So if you can help me solve my problem in simple terms I would appreciate it.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Window Movie Maker 6.0 problem

I installed Windows Live Essentials, which has installed Windows Live Movie Maker. However, for this reason, he left my Windows Movie Maker 6.0 deleted or unable to work. Is there a way to get Windows Movie Maker 6.0 running again? May be able to install it again? There is no code error, all this says is that Window Movie Maker 6.0 has been deleted, but I did not remove it.
    Thank you

    > If I remove windows live Director, and at a later date if I need, can I reinstall?

Yes, just go to the download site, install Windows Live Essentials > when he offers you the programs to install, just choose Windows Live Movie Maker and nothing else.

  • Is what camcorder compatible with Windows Movie Maker on Vista Home Premium?

I'm in a bit of a dead end.  I have to make and edit a film which is mostly clips stored in Windows Movie Maker on my old computer which has VISTA Home Premium/64 bit.

In most old clips (that are compatible), I have to shoot some new images.  My recent purchase of a Sony camcorder does not work.

Can anyone recommend a camcorder that will have files that are compatible with Windows Movie Maker?  My Sony clips seem impossible to move outside the Sony software so I can't convert them.

I'm ready to buy a new camera.  I just need something compatible.  Would even buy a used one on E - Bay as long as it will work with the old Windows Movie Maker.

    Can anyone help?

If its on a memory card to buy a card reader, if you do not. Or if you connect the cable it should allow you to see what on it

Most camcorders these days support MP4. If it is HD. The new Panasonic cam I have here, I think that it records in MP4. Since it is 1080 p

The old who is also Panasonic may have been old, (it is not HD), but it had a firewire port.

But I think that it saved videos like WMV (I mean I don't know that it loaded in Movie maker, when I got it)

You will have either to buy a program that supports MP4, or use a video conversion program and convert to WMV

  • Windows Movie Maker on Vista

I did a movie on Windows Movie Maker last night. Then trying to open the project on the SAME computer I get this message: the file C:\Users\Owner\Videos\LongHardRide2016.MSWMM cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to re-import the file.

Movie maker is at version v2.6 for vista, so that follow updates. If it is in order, your best bet is

to install windows media encoder 9 series, as well as its utility. The encoder can convert audio and video, more

recording, etc. Its utilities are still available through microsoft downloads, but is not the encoder, youre web use

browser for that. In addition, microsoft has no download "codec" for vista, xp has them, but not vista

I have windows developer and I love using it and is very useful,

BUT recently im trying to make my bmx video edit and going to use it to try to get offered and took at least 6 hours of work in and now the screen (veiwing) in the right corner displays the video in 4 little green and purple boxes... and but only in a few videos... I'd love if theres a way to fix this... Please... ID prefer this filmmaker on LIVE, but please help.

ALSO I tried on windows movie maker live and it is wrong to do anything else than to see a black box... no audio or Visual...

HELP PLEASE! It would be my dream to life were talking here!

    Just a few ideas...

It is possible that you have some compatibility issues with one or more of
    your source files.

Several formats are apparently compatible with Movie Maker but the
    more reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

It may be worth trying to go to... Tools / Options / Compatibility tab and
Uncheck all filters. If this does not help... try... Tools / Options /.
Left and the Compatibility tab, click Restore all the default button.

If you've spent 6 hours to create a Movie Maker project... it's more
that probably too big or too complex for the resources of your system. Try to create
several smaller projects and publish (save) in the. WMV
film format. Then you can combine them into a single file for re-import
WMV files collected, the drag in the timeline and publish them.

    =================================
Might be worth trying to convert .m4a files to a
format before you import into Movie Maker.
(WMA would probably be the best choice)

Also... the following freeware can convert:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory
    http://www.pcfreetime.com/
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
all the boxes on the last screen)

After downloading and installing Format Factory...
Open the program and choose an output folder...
(this is where you will find your files when they are
    converted)

Drag and drop your clips video .m4a on main screen...

    Select "while"WMA"/ OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

I am considering using Movie Maker instead of Pinnacle Studio, but the only thing that I can't find in Movie Maker is how frame grabs it is to tell how to create a still of a clip and add it to the movie. Any body knows how? Thank you.

    Hi john pike.

To take a picture of an individual frame of a video clip imported into Windows Movie Maker, follow these steps:

Open windows movie maker, import the video and then follow these steps.

    1. in the content pane, click the video clip you want to take a picture of.

    2. under the monitor, drag the playback indicator on the search bar, in the image of the video you want to capture as a picture. You can use the Next and previous image buttons under the control screen to find the exact image you want.

    3. click on Toolsand then click take a picture Preview.

    4. type a name for the image file and then click Save.

  • Movie maker audio import problems

I created a slide show and imported into windows movie maker very well. Now, I'm trying to add audio. I bought a .mp3 at amazon. When I try to import it, I get the following error message:

    Any suggestions?

    Hello steveb2009,

The music file is protected.  This is why you cannot import into MovieMaker.  The second proposed link Chris explains the files protected by DRM.
